2 2 Welcome to St. Margaret Mary Parish (continued from previous column) Jesus has done the work of Salvation and in the Letter to the Hebrews the message is a plan of action to make that work known and realized to those who need to hear it. From A Grateful Heart Just as it is appointed that human beings die once, and after this the judgment, so also Christ, offered once to take away the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to take away sin but to bring salvation to those who eagerly await him. (Hebrews 9: 27-28) How do we Visualize Jesus? This week we call out to those who seek God. He warns them of false teachers and priest of God. It seems times don t change much! With all the disappointing news of scandals and disappointments compounded by all the talk of problems that this election is supposed to handle, it makes me ponder the reality that will last so much longer than all of our lives put together. Now, I hope you don t think that I am going to predict or pretend that I know how Jesus will return. But, the happy question is: How exciting will it be to see Jesus when he returns! If you have been listening to the readings over the past few weeks Jesus has been telling us from the scriptures that he wants us to live with him eternally. The readings from the Letter to The Hebrews are an amazing work of theology and reality. Try to read it in one sitting to get the full impact of the author s talent to communicate the wonder of Salvation. Too often we (and I) have to sit and get our head around the reality of Second Coming of Christ. A terrible event for some who have lost the meaning of God s creation, I agree. But that s my point! We who hope for that day also are anxious for all people to be gathered up with Christ! That IS the full message of the Gospels, of the Scriptures, of God s coming in the flesh. We have a lot of work to find the lost, walk with the doubtful, pray for the angry. This is a big job and we can t get distracted by all the disappointments of daily life. Those have been the distractions from God s presence in every era. Whether wars, natural disasters, social upheaval or the like. False preachers will have us believe that we need their help to climb out of those tragedies to find peace and happiness. The message of Jesus to the people in this weekend s Gospel is the same warning. The Church calls that The Great Commission. Tell the GOOD NEWS. It isn t all bad and hopeless. The human saviors show up everywhere as they did when Jesus warned of their self interest not yours! Let me put it simply. Love one another as HE has (and does) love you. That is what Jesus said was his great command. The work of reaching out to the unwanted, the sinful, the lost, the doubtful, that is our mission in life. You can t go to heaven alone! God made us to love each other and to return to him together. Discipleship takes trust that Jesus is working and the Holy Spirit is active as we love. May the Heart of The Savior Bless you! Fr. Patrick Nelson, SDS Mass of Remembrance Starting November 1 st we will remember all those men and women who have gone before us, marked with the sign of faith. Beginning the weekend of October 27 th and 28 th you may bring in a picture or memorial card of your loved one and leave it on the table near the baptismal font. We will also enshrine the Book of the Names of the Dead and invite you to record the names of your loved ones in the Book for others to read, remember and pray for the repose of their souls. We will leave this table display throughout the month of November so that as a community we may look at them and remember our friends and family members. When we celebrate a Baptism, the assembly gathers around the font. We must also be present to those who are grieving so they are present to us in our grief. We are inviting those who have lost a loved one in the past year to come to Mass and invite your family and friends to Mass so together then we can pray In paradisum deducant te angeli: in tuo adventu suscipiant te martyers, et perducant te in civitatem sanctam Jerusalem. (May the angels lead you into paradise; may the martyrs come to welcome you and take you to the holy city, the new and eternal Jerusalem.) (continued next column)

If you are able to change the covers on the new books, please meet after the 8:15am mass on Monday, November 12. Many hands make light work! Join members of both Blessed Savior and St. Margaret Mary parishes for a volunteer work service day at the Sister MacCanon Brown Homeless Sanctuary on Saturday, December 1 from 10AM-2PM. We will be separating and organizing donated clothing and hygiene products as well as making lunches and cleaning. All are welcome to join us. For questions, contact Dave Liccione. Saint Margaret Mary Parish and School each have their OWN NEW websites: stmmp.org for the parish and stmms.org for the school. The parish website has many new features that the previous website did not possess. The website will be updated regularly and you can even access the bulletin online. Our parish is also providing an online giving program through our partnership with LPI called the WeShare program. This is a simple way to give automatically without writing a check. You can sign up today by accessing either the WeShare icon at the bottom of the homepage or by accessing the GIVE tab on the website and select WeShare. Would you like to designate your donation to a specific item that our parish community is in need of? Screens in the Church: One of the current items is purchase of the licensing rights needed to project music hymns on the screens during mass along with repairs. This estimated cost is $2000. Chromebooks for the middle school students: we are seeking funds for 20 Chromebooks. Please drop your marked envelope in the collection basket or mail to the parish center.

5 5 The Blood Drive was a success!! We had 20 donors give 15 units of blood so we hit 100% of our goal. This will help save 45 lives! The 2019 giving dates will be posted soon. St. Camillus Craft Faire November 17, :30 am 3:00 pm for the San Camillo Craft Faire at W. Blue Mound Rd. in Wauwatosa. No admission fee! Featured items include: Handmade items, knit goods, scarves, baby items, greeting cards, framed art, HOMEMADE baked treats and so much more! All items lovingly created by campus residents, and many crafters from the community. Raffle baskets and chili lunch available. Proceeds benefit the Order of St. Camillus Foundation.
