(Romans 15:7) We welcome into the life and worship of our congregation all people whatever their ethnic origin, gender, background, age, sexual orientation, mental or physical ability. F Mendelssohn Spirit divine, attend our prayers All the Israelites went back to Bethel, sitting there before the Lord; they fasted that day until evening, for the ark of the covenant was there in those days. (Judges 20.26a, 27b) Prayer of Approach Prayer of the Day (said together): Almighty God, your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ descended to be one with us, flesh of our flesh, bone of our bone, and ascended that he might fill all things. Grant that your earth may be filled with his presence who is the very gate of heaven; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

2 Psalm 139 O Lord, you have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from far away. You search out my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, O Lord, you know it completely. 3 Hymn 97 O God, you search me and you know me Genesis Jacob left Beer-sheba and went towards Haran. He came to a certain place and stayed there for the night, because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones of the place, he put it under his head and lay down in that place. And he dreamed that there was a ladder set up on the earth, the top of it reaching to heaven; and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. He called that place Bethel; but the name of the city was Luz at the first. John Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, Follow me. Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. Philip found Nathanael and said to him, We have found him about whom Moses in the law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus son of Joseph from Nazareth. Nathanael said to him, Can anything good come out of Nazareth? Philip said to him, Come and see. When Jesus saw Nathanael coming towards him, he said of him, Here is truly an Israelite in whom there is no deceit! Nathanael asked him, Where did you come to know me? Jesus answered, I saw you under the fig tree before Philip called you. Nathanael replied, Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel! Jesus answered, Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than these. And he said to him, Very truly, I tell you, you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man. Hymn 268 O God of Bethel! 6 MORE NOTES & DATES The Sunday morning crèche will not be staffed from now until mid August. However, the room will be available for babies/toddlers and accompanying adults who wish to use it. CHURCH OFFICE During Anthea s absence, Rebecca Gebauer, will be looking after the Church Office. Please or telephone the office as usual relating to any administration matters. The office hours will be Tuesday-Thursday 12pm-4pm until further notice. PRAYER GROUP The Prayer Group will not meet regularly until September but prayer focus will continue in the Wellington Notes. Maureen and Ann will be pleased to receive any issues for prayer. WELLINGTON CHURCH ROOF REPAIRS Scaffolding construction will remain in place until the completion of the project planned for 1 September ACCESS TO THE BUILDING During this period the only access to the church will be through the side door on Southpark Ave. There will be no access through the front doors of the church without special permission and no access through the crypt outside door. CAR PARKING The car park will be used by the contractor so car parking is very limited. Parking is available in the University grounds. Enter by the Porter s box at the main gate and exit by the lower, Pearce Lodge, gate. There are a number of disabled parking spaces available in the University car park on Southpark Avenue but only for holders of blue badges. Drive your car up to the barrier and use the phone to call the porter s box, quote your blue badge number and the barrier should be opened. NEW ROTA A new rota for Sunday's Door duties is about to be made up covering the period August to January inclusive. Could those on the rota please inform me by Friday 28th July of any dates when they will NOT be available? Of course, new volunteers to join the duty team are very welcome and should contact me at munrowalker@ntlworld.com or Many thanks. Robin Green. NEW CHAPLAINCY SPACE Lizy needs volunteers to help set up the new student chaplaincy space that will be housed in Wellington. This will be an ongoing project this month with various tasks including lifting and assembling furniture and receiving deliveries. Times are flexible so talk to Lizy after church or her at Lizy@wellingtonchurch.co.uk if you are interested in helping. Thank you!

Our theme for the summer is Journeys of Life, Journeys of Faith. The winners will be chosen at the end of the summer and prizes will be awarded at our Freshers Week Dinner! This helps the Guests who are learning English and has a 'feel good' factor for the Hosts who are the native English speakers. You are invited to join them. Next one is Saturday 29 July in the Woodlands Hall at 7pm for 7.30pm when Musician Liam Stewart will start playing for the dancing. Come and help and extend a Wellington welcome to International Welcome Club members old and new. Pay at the door: 7 per adult. 10 per family. KILMARDINNY LOCH Thursday 3 August: Walk around Kilmardinny Loch via the Roman Bathhouse in Bearsden. Come and enjoy the history and scenery and offer a welcome to people from abroad who are living, working or studying in Glasgow. Run by Wellington Church International Welcome Club. Book your place by 5pm on Monday 31st July by ing: liz@iwelcomeclub.com BACK TO SCHOOL APPEAL The Wheel Trust and some of their partner churches are looking to support pupils from low income families at Hillhead High with essential items for starting back at school. Collection of school uniforms (size yr) and stationary at Wellington will continue until 13th August. See notice boards for more info. AFRICAN CHILDREN July Appeal The following items are now needed by SIR for children in Africa: pencil case, ruler, sharpener, eraser. Items donated will be forwarded to African countries such as: Liberia, Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo.

8 FOCUS ON PRAYER (provided by the Prayer Group) Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. Psalm 34:14 (NIV) Pray for the people of Egypt where ISIS has threatened Christians. Pray for our mission partner, Rev. Colin Johnston. Pray for the work of StARS (St. Andrews Refugee Service) as they create opportunities for education, safe employment and independent living for young adults to survive and thrive in Cairo. Pray that respect and tolerance may exist between all the different faiths that each proclaim the one God of peace. Give thanks for the blessing and peace of prayer.
