P: Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and of one another. Silence for prayer and reflection. Most merciful God, C: we confess that we are captive to sin and cannot free ourselves. You will see greater things than these. 51 And he said to him, Very truly, I tell you, you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. Our calls might not seem to require as consequential a response, but we too are called and have a choice to follow Jesus each day, in our homes, our school, our workplaces, wherever we go. Do we ever consider the cost of following that call? The disciples faced an uncertain future...where has and could the unknown also take each of us as we continue to follow Jesus? Gracious God, we give thanks for the way you are at work in our lives, for your guiding presence as we strive to do your will in the world. Give us greater faith when we doubt and courage as we face challenges along the way. Just as you were for those early disciples, we know that you are always with us.
