This month's Bible story is David & Goliath. Our Bible verse is "Psalms 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd. I have everything I need." Our mission project is collecting pet supplies for local animal rescues. We will have a Busy Bees Birthday Bash this month. On this day we celebrate everybody's birthday by having cupcakes & ice cream. And we all get to open our own birthday gift! We also celebrate Valentine s Day with a party & exchange Valentines with our friends. During our party we all get to run a giant obstacle course that is set up in the gym. It's so much fun & helps us work on our coordination, gross motor skills & spatial relation skills. During this month our older classes celebrate the 100th Day of School with many special counting activities & we have school pictures taken. Reminder community registration is next month! Kid Flicks is an organization in Los Angeles that collects gently used DVD's in their original cases rated G, PG, and PG-13 for children in hospitals throughout the USA.

These movies will be collected starting February 1st through February 28 th. Please leave the DVD s in the youth room marked GOF or give to Megan Turman, Jessica Ball, or Mollie Bannister.

Deuteronomy 15:10 Over the holidays, the Girls of Faith provided cookies and positivity tins full of inspirational passages to the group as a way to continue to encourage others in their on-going journey. Also, the Busy Bees were able to raise over $600 to purchase gifts for children on our Angle Tree...Great Job Kids! Together, the Sunday school classes, the UMM, and members of the congregation lovingly raised $1,080 for food baskets for others to be able to enjoy the holidays. We as church also continued to support the City Mission, Moriah Sharp, the Allen s, Bateman Hospital Volunteer Services, Hospice House, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Kid Flicks is an organization in Los Angeles that collects gently used DVD's in their original cases rated G, PG, and PG-13 for children in hospitals throughout the USA. The hospitals that are local that DVD's are shipped to are West Virginia University Children's Hospital, Cincinnati's Children, and Nationwide Children's in Columbus. ESTHER/RUTH CIRCLE will NOT meet in the month of FEBRUARY. "We are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Ephesians 2:10 Our focus of study at All Stars continues to be "I've Got Talent--Showcasing my work for Jesus". We've studied the talents of Joseph as a manager during the month of January. (Genesis 39:2 "The Lord was with Joseph so that he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master.") All Stars would like to thank Mark Call for being our guest speaker in January and showcasing his talents with insurance to remind us to plan ahead and to be organized. Esther's talents as an activist will be studied in February. Memory scripture for February is Esther 4:16 ( Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish." We are looking for an attorney, community organizer, or social worker to share their talents as they relate to Esther. Our mission project for January and February is to help our "furry" friends at Little Victories. Your child has been encouraged to do extra helpful activities around the house for extra change that they may donate to this mission project. We will celebrate friendship with the exchanging of Valentines at All Stars on February 8. Your child may bring Valentines to share with their class. All Stars would like to welcome Lucy, Lennon, Karmyn, and Kenzie as new team members! Also, we welcome new volunteers to our team staff--robin Triplett, Kim Lantz, and Stephanie Hoover. You are also invited to be a part of our "team" of volunteers. Please join us on Wednesdays at 5:30. Through Christ all things are possible. ---Cathy Conard NEW DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT ANNOUNCED: Rev. Dr. Okey B. Harless has been appointed to serve as the new District Superintendent of our Western District, effective in July. Following the announcement of our current Superintendent, Rev. Dr. Greg Hayes plan to retire, Bishop Sandra Steiner-Ball has named Harless to fill the position. Dr. Harless was ordained an elder in the West Virginia Conference in He received his Masters of Divinity from Duke University Seminary in 1986; his Doctor of Ministry from United Theological Seminary in Dr. Harless has served the United Methodist Church as a pastor in the following appointments: Berwind 1979; Lerona 1981; Riverview 1986; St. Paul s, Nitro 1991; and Dunbar Community We look forward to welcoming Dr. Harless to our area!
