2 From the Desk of Fr. Chris Have you noticed how some words that you think are simple, obvious, and clear are met with blank stares or confusion? Mostly it s a generational thing, going in either direction. I had that experience with the word pigeonhole. With all the new ways of electronic communication, some have never experienced the honeycomb of small boxes used for letters or messages. To pigeonhole somebody is to assign to a category or class, often in a way that is too rigid and exclusive. And that s what happens to Jesus in the Gospel. The hometown folks have him all figured out and placed in a neat, safe box. They don t allow him to be or do anything other than their pigeonholed category. Thus, he could perform no miracle there. We still do that with him. We pigeonhole him to fit neatly in our own ideas. Jesus acts in this way or can only reveal himself in that way. We want him to do as we see fit, instead of giving him the space and freedom to act as he sees fit. Fr. Prayer Chain If you would like to be a part of the Prayer Chain, or have a prayer request, all that s required is to have a computer with internet access, an address, a compassionate heart, and willingness to pray for others (no phone trees). To receive them, please come down the center aisle at the end of Communion and indicate to the Eucharistic Minister that you need the Gluten-Free host. Homebound Eucharist If you have a family member or know of a parishioner on the eastside of Tucson in need of having Eucharist brought to them regularly, please contact the Parish Office at Mass Intentions are Available If you would like to schedule a weekday Mass for your loved one(s), or have a special intention, please contact the parish office.
