4 Page 4 Our Lady of Lourdes, Toledo, January 28, 2018 WE NEED YOUR HELP! Due to illness, limited mobility or just a time of need, many of our parishioners are unable to get out. We are forming a ministry called "Home Bound Connection Ministry" to address this need. Please call us with names of parishioners who have no family near-by or who have become reclusive. This ministry is meant to be one of compassion and hospitality. Our goal is first to identify these parishioners. Here is where we need your help. We then will seek volunteers to make a regular call to check on their wellbeing, make a connection with the parish and provide them with community resource information resources. Please call one of the following individuals with the parishioner's name, address and phone number. If anyone has knowledge of the whereabouts please return to their niche in the Pantry. No questions will be asked. Start gathering that loose change and pick up a baby bottle after Mass the weekend of February Heartbeat is a life-affirming pregnancy center whose mission is to be the best source of information and support for women facing pregnancies and to help mothers, fathers and babies in need. DIVORCED & SEPARATED SUPPORT GROUP & HEALING PROGRAM Join us Thursday Feb. 1st and Thursday Feb. 15th at OLPH in meeting room 2 at 7 pm. OLPH and St. Joan of Arc Parishes are co- hosting an ongoing support group for the divorced and separated. Meetings will have 2 parts. From 7 to 8 PM we will view a video from the 12 part series entitled The Catholic Divorce Survival Guide. From 8 to 9 there will be a discussion and sharing for support. The series covers the topics of shock, denial, anger, grief, guilt, forgiveness, money, the courts, the kids, the ex-spouse, annulment, dating, sexuality, spirituality, re-marriage or staying single, and much more. Featured are Catholic men and women who share their emotional but inspiring stories of divorce and recovery, along with input from expert teachers, counselors and authors. You'll cry, laugh and be encouraged. Whether you divorced ten years ago, ten days ago or are still in the separation stage, the program offers valuable insight to help comfort, counsel and bring clarity to your life. Brig Sorber, Executive Chairman of Two Men & A Truck, continues our quarterly speaker series with Finding Faith in the Midst of Business. This new Catholic Charities ministry invites people of all faiths to explore ways of living and promoting Catholic values in the workplace. We are happy to mail out a form to you if you wish. 40 Days for Life Campaign Begins February 14 Catholic Charities is hosting the ecumenical 40 Days for Life campaign in Northwest Ohio from February 14 through March 25. You can participate in three ways: prayer and fasting, community outreach and peaceful vigil. We invite you to pray for an hour in front of Capital Care Network, the Toledo abortion clinic, located at 1160 W. Sylvania Avenue. Sign up at: Since the international 40 Days for Life Campaign began in 2007, over 750,000 volunteers in over 40 nations have stood in prayerful witness at abortion clinics to witness to the dignity of human life. Through these prayerful campaigns, over 14,000 lives have been saved, 170 abortion workers have quit their positions, and 90 abortion facilities have shut down! For further information, call Rose at Whenever a county/city within the Diocese of Toledo is placed under a Level 3 Snow Emergency, during which all roadways are closed to nonemergency personnel, the Catholic Churches within that geographic region will cancel the scheduled Saturday Vigil, Sunday, or Holy Day Masses. Roman Catholics in that region, therefore, are dispensed from the obligation to attend Mass. If Masses are cancelled, Catholics are encouraged to participate in Holy Mass via television, radio, or internet, making a spiritual Communion. When Mass is cancelled, all other diocesan, parish, or school events in that geographic region are also cancelled. To help make Baptism a truly meaningful ceremony, parents are asked to attend a Baptismal Preparation Class. This can be done before the birth of the baby. It is important for parents to understand the Sacrament, the ceremony, and the responsibilities that follow. The next Baptismal Prep Session will be February 5th at 7:00 p.m. in the Lourdes Room.
