1 St Dyfrig s & All Hallows Catholic Churches pontypriddrcdeanery.org.uk Parishes of the Archdiocese of Cardiff Registered Charity no Father Allan Davies-Hale st.dyfrigtreforest@rcadc.org St Dyfrig s Presbytery, Broadway, Treforest, Pontypridd, CF37 1DB Phone: Mobile: Sunday 22 nd May 2016 THE MOST HOLY TRINITY (Year C) Cycle II Psalter Week 4 THE JUBILEE YEAR OF MERCY CONFESSION: THE SACRAMENT OF MERCY Holy Doors will be open in every diocese in England and Wales for the 'Year of Mercy' but we all have access to a door of mercy. The door to the Confessional - there's one in every parish - gives Catholics the opportunity to experience God's forgiveness in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The Year of Mercy gives us a chance to discover anew the loving mercy of God during this Jubilee year: when we open this door, we are called higher than our sins and defects. In going to Confession more frequently, we see more clearly all we are called to be. We are called to holiness. Pope Francis reminds us that in this sacrament we meet Jesus ready to embrace us in all of our need with his grace and mercy. Pope Francis asks people: 'How long is it since you went to Confession? A week? A month? A year? Longer? Don't delay a single day if it has been a long time'. Opening this door, we will find the peace and the joy that Christmas promises. PROLIFE CHAIN To commemorate the 1967 Abortion Act, the unborn babies and their mothers... Next Saturday 28 th May at Caerphilly Roundabout, A468/A469, opposite the Cedar Tree pub, CF83 3HX from 11am to 1pm, we will be commemorating the tragic day in 1968 when abortion began to be practiced in our country. There have been nearly 8,000,000 unborn children legally killed since that day. In Wales alone in there were 8,315 (the last official figures). In the UK 550 babies are killed on average every day, including Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday we will supply the placards and ask you to hold them at the side of the road where drivers can see them. We have chosen a place to gather, on the northern outskirts of Caerphilly. This will be a silent & peaceful vigil. We will not be approaching anyone or handing out leaflets unless someone asks for one. You can park in the housing estate just off the roundabout on Ponytygwindy Road towards Caerphilly Town. You can bring a folding chair, if you wish, and refreshments. Get in touch with me on if you have any questions. Please: do consider coming as we need to bear witness to passers-by and people in cars that this terrible destruction is continuing largely paid for by our taxes, which makes us responsible if we do not speak up. If you cannot come for the whole time, please come for as long as you can manage.
