1 LOVELOCK, William "Bill" Alexander Passed away peacefully at 88 years of age with his loving family by his side. Beloved husband to Madaline, loving children (grandchildren) Jim and Leslie (Cassie, Shelby, Jamie, Tanner), Tom and Jan (Ryan and Lisa, Heather and Greg, Mark and Leanne), Teri and Shawn (Lindsay), Rob and Heather (Bridgette), and his great grandchildren Hunter, Hudson, Gabriel, Clarke, Wesley and Laney. Loving brother of Irene Beaton (deceased) and Morley Kenneth (deceased) and sister-in-law Pauline. He will forever be remembered by his relatives and friends. Bill was well known in the Whitby-Oshawa area and was a Veteran of WWII serving in the Canadian Army Medical Corps He was actively involved in both hockey and lacrosse. He was also Commissioner of the General Motors Salaried Hockey League for 35 years. Bill was known to many as the Muffin Man and Candy Man. He also loved working in his greenhouse, gardening, baking and making wooden toys, which he shared with so many. Bill was an avid joker and he shared his stool samples whenever he could. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or a charity of your choice. A celebration of Bill's life will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 1:30 pm at McIntosh-Anderson-Kellam Funeral Home Ltd., 152 King Street East, Oshawa ( ). When I worked at EDS, Tom would bring in raisen tea biscuits, and if they weren't ready, then Cliff would leave work for a few minutes to go and pick them up...they were the best! I often wonder if Bill ever used the apron and oven mitts we gave him. Even though we only live on the next street, we would always converse with him, if he was outside. Ever since 1978, when Bill squeezed a late/new-comer into the GMSHL, Monday became a winter night for me to look forward to. Not only was there hockey to be played but also opportunity to spend time in the stands of the Civic with the people who made the league unique. Bill cared intensely about everything he did. He made sure the games and the annual social events that went with them revolved around the people involved without lessening the competitive spirit of the sport. 8 May 14, 2014 Arn Stapleton Bill was my first hockey coach at St. Andrews in the PCHL. He was a dedicated coach and he moulded us into a strong team! It was men like Bill who gave of their time to coach kids that has inspired me to do the same. By the accounts given it sure sounds like Bill had an amazing life.
