She was born July 12, 2002 to Sterling Gilkey and Cyd (Coker) Gilkey. She is survived by her mother Cyd Coker-Gilkey of McKinney, Texas; father, Sterling Gilkey and wife Stephanie of Frisco, Texas; brothers, Sterling Gilkey and Chandler Gilkey; step-brothers, Dylan Peace, Garrett Bates; aunt, Treva Gilkey of Dallas, Texas; uncle, Lamar Coker of Oklahoma, Timothy Cunningham of Chicago, Illinois; grandparents, Earl and June Gilkey of Pawhuska, Oklahoma and Lee and Jean Coker of Tulsa, Oklahoma. A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 30, 2012 at One Community Church, 2400 State Hwy 121, Plano, Texas Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday evening, June 29 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. I won't say, "I know how you feel"- because I don't. I've lost brothers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, and pets, but I've never lost a child. So how can I say I know how you feel? I won't say, "You'll get over it"- because you won't. Life will have to go on. The washing, cooking, cleaning, the common routine. The chores will take your mind off your child, but the hurt will still be there. I won't say, "Your other children will comfort you"-they will try and will ease your pain, but they cannot replace the one you lost, so love them and remember they are suffering a loss as well. So what will I say? I will say, "I am here. I care. Anytime. Anywhere." I will talk about your child. We'll laugh about the good memories. I won't mind how long you grieve. I won't tell you to pull yourself together. No, I don't know how you feel- but with sharing, perhaps I will learn a little of what you are going through.
