3 My Dear Friends, Last week we began our new history as St. John Paul the Great Parish. Overall, I thought it was well-received. The attendance at most Masses was really good. We offered coffee and donuts after the four main Masses on Sunday, the 8:30, 10:00, 11:15 and 12:30. We also had great interest in t-shirts that we were selling and are also making available for order if anyone is interested. They are red shirts with the words St. John Paul the Great and a cross on the front and a quote on the back. After weeks and months of mourning, there was a slight move forward of a new spirit, especially a spirit of excitement. There is also a new app for those who have smartphones, called myparishapp. On the app you will find news concerning our parish as well as other resources and discussion groups for our parishioners. It is free to use and to download. I have to say that I was very pleased with last week. We have a remarkable parish with wonderful parishioners. Even though this process was difficult and the result was painful for some, you embraced the new parish last week and have set us up to move forward. I feel that consecrating a litany of our new patron of St. John Paul the Great was a great was to start our new history. We will succeed as a St. John Paul the Great T-shirts $ 10 Available in S/M/L/XL/XXL If every parish and diocese would come together and unite as one in a consecration to her Immaculate Heart, only good things could occur. Her Immaculate Heart is that powerful. And since Pope St. John Paul II was devoted to our Blessed Mother, he is the right patron saint for our new parish that has been consecrated to her Immaculate Heart. Together may we continue to grow in our faith and reach out to those who are hurt and lost and invite them to taste God and to experience our Blessed Mother s love. God bless. Fr. John To place order by (please note size) SaintJohnPaulTheGreatBulletin@gmail.com Or DROP BY or MAIL request with $10 to JPII Pastoral Center 160 Main Street Deadline Monday, July 17 Shirts will be in the first week of August. 4 DEFENDING OUR RELIGIOUS LIBERTY Archbishop William E. Lori of Baltimore, Issued a statement encouraging the broadening of the exemption from the HHS mandate. "If issued, these regulations would appropriately broaden the existing exemption to a wider range of stakeholders with religious or moral objections to the mandated coverage not just houses of worship. This not only would eliminate an unwarranted governmental division of our religious community 'between our houses of worship and our great ministries of service to our neighbors,' but would also lift the government-imposed burden on our ministries 'to violate their own teachings within their very own institutions Relief like this is years overdue and would be most welcomed. Please pray for James D. O Connor, Jr. Judith Pelchat Theresa Scarmana recently deceased members of our parish family. STAFF Pastor: Rev. John C. Granato Parochial Vicar: Rev.
