By now, most of you, if not all of you are aware that on the 27 th of August, there is a congregational meeting for the stated purpose of calling your next pastor. This has been the awaited time and it is now upon us. I want to encourage you to come to the meeting so that you can be introduced to your next pastor and have the opportunity to vote on his/her coming. No, he or she will not be present that Sunday, but there will be a video or a flyer containing information about him/her. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and then VOTE! I, for one am very excited. This is the moment for which we have all been waiting. God is great and greatly to be praised! So, we give God glory for the things God has done, is doing, and will continue to do through you, the members of Paw Creek Presbyterian Church. This is a time of celebration, expectation and soon a big WELCOME! Even as we wait for the month s end to approach, remember to keep the Pastor Nominating Committee in your prayers and thank them for the hard work they have accomplished. Here is an event some of us can attend: Join us for "Youth Engage" day! This is a free event that will give middle school and high school students the opportunity to gather and explore activities for youth ministry. 4 P a ge 4 Paw Creek Online Giving Update We have updated some of our online giving accounts. We have added an account for the Emergency Relief Fund as well as the Brick Pavers, and we have removed the account for the Center for the Arts. Port-A-Pit Fundraiser We will be hosting a port-a-pit fundraiser on September 15, to raise funds for the playground. Tickets will be on sale starting June 25. Please see Jan Chapman to buy or sell tickets. Thank you. Go to Google Play or itunes and search for Paw Creek Presbyterian Church. If you have a QR reader app on your phone, scan this and go right to the donation page. Blessing Rocks - #PawCreekRocks Blessing Rocks have been hidden through out the church property by Elizabeth Kincaid. They are painted and have a bible verse on them. It is our hope that when someone finds the rock they will be blessed and so moved to share the blessing with others by re hiding the rock for someone else to find OR painting a few of their own rocks to hide on the property. A challenge blessing rock has also been hidden in which the finder is to put $1 in the envelope and then rehide the rock for the next person. The person that finds the rock and adds the 20th dollar is to then donate that money to the Ronald McDonald house of Charlotte in name of Paw Creek Presbyterian (again we're passing along the blessing. ) If you find a rock, take a picture with the rock and post to Facebook with #PawCreekRocks. Are you up for the challenge Paw Creek???? Loaves & Fishes Ever notice that BIG Red Barrel in the narthex? It is always available to make food donations for Loaves & Fishes. Items in greatest need are: Canned meats Canned fruit Canned pastas Cereal Powdered milk 100% fruit juice Or you can even TEXT a donation. How It Works: To send gifts via text, send a text message with a dollar amount and which fund you wish the money to be designated (e.g., "$10 BUILDING ) to (704) If you have an envelope #, please include that in your text as well. EXAMPLE: $50 CHOIR Envelope 333 If it is your first time giving this way, you will have to fill out a short form one time to complete with your billing information. After the initial setup, however, giving is as easy as sending a text. Pleasant Grove UMC Friday Hot Dog Lunch - Update Every Friday New Hours:11:00am-1:30pm *No longer allowed to serve homemade desserts Paw Creek Presbyterian Church Playground Fundraiser Paw Creek has installed a new playground. To help raise money for the playground upgrade we are selling brick pavers. The brick pavers will be incorporated in a prayer garden to improve the look of the entrance to the church. Each brick paver cost $40 Perfect gift for that hard to buy for special person in your life to celebrate their birthday, Mother s Day, Father s Day, Graduation, Anniversary, etc. Wording examples are family names, bible verses, sayings, in honor and in memory of loved ones, to celebrate baptisms, groups, classes, etc. Order forms are available in the Narthex and the Church Office. Thank you friends at Paw Creek for all your prayers for my great-grandson, Benjamin Griffin. Through the prayers of God s people and the staff at Levine Children s Hospital, Benjamin is now home with his parents and is expected to have a full recovery. Love, Jo Griffin Small The Woodland Spaghetti fundraiser for Youth for Change was a success! Thank you for those who prepared the food and provided donations. We appreciate the overflow of support from Woodland and Paw Creek Presbyterian Church members as well as friends. The youth mission trip scheduled for August 10-14, 2017 to Washington, DC will be a life changing event. Please continue to pray for those participating and chaperoning the trip.
