3 Armed Forces Day at Enterprise Civic Center On Saturday, May 20, Armed Forces Day was celebrated at the Enterprise Civic Center on Hwy 27, sponsored by the Enterprise Civitan Club and the American Legion. The Invocation was given by American Legion Chaplain and Camp 911 member Jim Hopkins. A patriotic program was given; the speaker was Cmdr., 1 st Batt., 212 th Aviation Reg. Lt. Col. Cal C. Nix. Following the program, the audience was asked to move outside for the Cannon Salute by Clantons Battery, and Co E, 15 th Alabama Infantry Re-enactors, who presented a Living History. Camp 911 member Mark Howard set up the Hospital tent, with Tabitha Cole serving as nurse. As always, the display of period medical implements and the knowledge of medicine during the War that Mark and Tabitha are able to convey attracted a large number of curious visitors. At right, Clantons Battery fires a salute. Camp 911 members participating were Ray Kyle, Stuart Mock, and Larry Sasser. Information and vendor tables were set up inside the Civic Center. Above, Camp 911 Commander Joe Clark represented the SCV. At right, Gen. Edmond Winchester Rucker 2534, UDC Vice President Georgia Fleming represented the Battle of Newton Society and the UDC.

4 Memorial Day at Meadowlawn Cemetery On Monday, May 29, a Memorial Day Remembrance Service was held at Meadowlawn Park in Enterprise. Memorial Day honors those who have died in all American wars. The colors were presented by the DAV Color Guard. Mayor Bill Cooper of Enterprise read a Proclamation. Speaker, Bishop Jerry L. Ogles, gave a talk on Memorial Day vs. Veterans Day. The colors were retired by the DAV Color Guard. After the closing prayer, Co E, 15 th Alabama Infantry Re-enactors performed the Canteen Salute in memory of those who gave their lives in American wars. (Left, Lee Tingey; Below, Mack Lott) UCD Benevolent Contributions for June Ladies, the Benevolent Committee is asking us to bring school supplies to our June meeting. Suggestions are wide-ruled notebook paper, #2 pencils, rulers, school scissors, white glue, crayons, folders, spiral notebooks, and construction paper. Please continue to bring canceled stamps, and coupons for our soldiers. We are still collecting hotel soaps and lotions, and can tabs.

Rucker 2534 will have its monthly social meeting on Thursday, June 22, at 5:00 pm. We have been meeting at Moms Family Restaurant on the Ozark Highway. Moms is in the process of moving to Morgan Square Mall, Rucker Blvd., Enterprise. We are not sure Moms will complete its move by our meeting date, but we will have news of progress from their Facebook page. If the move is not complete, we need to think of an alternate meeting place for June. Please let Georgia know where you would like to get together in case we need the alternate. Wherever we meet, all members and prospective members are invited to attend. You can enjoy dinner, a salad, a dessert, or just have a cup of coffee with us. We hope to see you there, and if you cant make it at 5:00, come when you can.
