3 The Capitole Record December2018/January2019 Page!3 We did show at the Montclair Community Library the month of November. I placed signs in each President s cabinet with our Chapter s name and my phone number. I received no calls. Corner So to end out the year, I wish all of you and your family and very Merry and Blessed Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year. If you don t celebrate Seasons Greetings. See you in January! Well another year has gone bye. I think we had a great year. Thanks to all of you for that. Thanks to my old Board and thanks for running and supporting me next year. Sandy stated at the meeting that she would take on Seminar if she wasn t selected to teach at World of Color. Well, she was selected to teach. So, if we want to have a Seminar, we need a Chair and a Committee. We don t have to have a seminar each year, but I really enjoyed the seminar this past year. Marie/John have put in this newsletter (pg. 1) what being Seminar Chair entails. Lorraine Nation s Capital Chapter Executive Board Minutes of the Meeting Sunday, November 11, 2018 Thanks for attending the November meeting and staying to paint with me. Thanks everyone for my end of year gift. Thanks Ann for doing the installation of officers. Please, please, please read your newsletter as we had to change many of the dates next year to get the Providence Community Center for our meetings. We will be starting earlier as we have the center from 9-1. If anyone knows of a place where we can meet for free or for a minimal amount for the day, let us know. We will have a short Board meeting and then a Halloween meeting at my house on January 13 at 1:00 pm. It will be a Pot Luck! Hopefully, no snow. Kathy is going to hand out all the things that need to be painted for the luncheon. So, when it is snowing, you will have something to paint. If you want to help with the luncheon, please come to this meeting. Or, if you cannot make it, but still want to help, contact Kathy Bacskay. The Founders Medallion will be awarded at the January meeting. PRESIDENT: President Lorraine Lasch conducted an meeting of the NCC Executive Board, asking for input from members. ( this is my own pattern packet) Supplies: Watercolor paints- Alizarin Crimson ( or your favorite red), Sap Green, Cobalt Blue or Ultramarine Blue Brushes: 2 round brushes with a sharp point. If you don't have brushes and you need to buy some, you don't need to spend lots on brushes. Cheap brushes like "Simply Simmons" work well...size 6 or 8 or 10...whatever you have or can find. If it has a sharp point it can do tiny areas as well as bigger areas with the different pressure you use. Your acrylic water basin will work since it has 2 wells. Paper towels and a palette for mixing paint- plastic or foam plate works well. Graphite paper and a ball point pen (red works best so you can easily see where you have traced) to transfer the pattern onto your watercolor paper. This newsletter is late because the Editor has been in Fairfax Hospital since December2 through 11 for emergency abdominal surgery. She is at home recovering. Meanwhile the assistant editor was working slowly on the Newsletter in between hospital visits and caregiving responsibilities. Arlene Mauceri, a former long time member of the NCC and dear friend of many members, has passed away. Lorraine Lasch fell and injured her leg (fortunately no breaks), her son has a blood clot on his leg (being treated with meds) and husband Frank fell on the ice and mangled his finger. Ann Davis has successfully recovered from a severe bout of vertigo Diane Crean is awaiting test results to determine if skin cancer has returned. Please keep all these friends and their families in your thoughts and prayers, ad let s hope the downhill slide is over Thanks to Diane Crean, on pages 7-10 is a listing of chain stores and which Americana.colors they carry. Regards. Marie and John It s not what you look at that matters, it s what you see Thoreau
