4 As we prepare to celebrate the feast of the Immaculate Conception, we will be conducting a group retreat starting on Monday, November 5th, using Father Michael Gaitley s book and other related materials to study and meditate upon the experiences of four saints known for their consecration and devotion to Jesus through the Blessed Virgin Mary (known as Marian consecration). The group will meet in the Upper Hall on FIVE consecutive Mondays at 7:00 PM to view a video and to discuss in small groups their insights gained, lessons learned, and to pray to enhance their spiritual lives in this consecration. Generally, the meetings will conclude by 8:30 PM. Study materials will be provided. This will be the third time that the parish has offered this retreat. TRUNK CONTEST WINNERS Thank you to all who contributed to and attended our All Hallows Eve / All Saints Day Parish Celebration! "We need to participate for the common good. Sometimes we hear: a good Catholic is not interested in politics. This is not true: good Catholics immerse themselves in politics by offering the best of themselves so that the leader can govern." - Pope Francis, 9/16/13 The Catholic bishops of the United States are pleased to offer once again to the Catholic faithful Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship, our teaching document on the political responsibility of Catholics. Pastors, lay and religious faithful, and all people of good will are urged to use this statement to help form their consciences; to teach those entrusted to their care; to contribute to civil and respectful public dialogue; and to shape political choices in the coming election in light of Catholic teaching. The statement lifts up our dual heritage as both faithful Catholics and American citizens with rights and duties as participants in the civil order. To read this document, visit forming-consciences-for-faithful-citizenship-title.cfm. FORMATION RESOURCES Don t forget about your FREE subscription to Formed.org, where you can stream hundreds of hours of inspiring movies and video series, read Catholic ebooks, and listen to audio presentations from compelling speakers.
