2 March 11, 2012 Season of Lent Lent Service Project Our work con nues... meet at the church Saturday at 7:30 am for breakfast and work a er. Dorcas Circle will provide breakfast and lunch. Please RSVP to Tim Howe by Wednesday so they will know how many to cook for! mhowe3@verizon.net Vespers con nue on Wednesdays at 6:30pm...It can be hard to find space to listen for the voice of God. This service focuses on scripture, silence, symbol and sacrament, and will be unhurried and quiet as way of re centering yourself in God in the midst of each week during Lent. Vespers communion offering will go to New Hope Learning Center. Spiritual Discipline Simplicity An inward reality that results in an outward life style. Simplicity is the joyful unconcern for possessions we experience as we truly seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness (Ma 6:33). Persons living in simplicity realize freedom from anxiety by viewing possessions as gi s from God, remembering we are stewards to care for God s gi s to us and making our goods available to others. Simplicity is a declara on of war on materialism and it reorients our lives, perspec ves, and a tudes. Joplin Mission Trip April 22 28, Registra on is s ll in process. 3 John 19:25-27 FUMC Kids... Kids in Discipleship This month s mission project is a literacy project Words of Love. Children will be reading to earn money to help provide other children with scholarships for VBS and our Summer Fun programs. We will be asking the church family for their prayers and dona ons.
