2 OBITUARY Alma Louise Lindsey Ward was born in Anderson County to Robert D. and Mary Stewart Lindsey. She was the fifth of nine children. She attended Northside Elementary School and Reed Street High School. She received a Cosmetology Degree from Poro Beauty School in Atlanta, GA in One week later, she married Jackson C. Ward, Jr. They were married for nearly 60 years before his passing in God blessed their marriage with seven children. During her adulthood, Alma served her community and various churches in many capacities, notable among which were: Community President of PTA Director of The Crusaders (community choir) Church Affiliations Joined Salem Baptist Church (Salem Missionary Baptist Church) at an early age Supported her husband in his ministry at Mt. Herman (Anderson), New Prospect (Townville), Sanders Groves (Hartwell, GA), Damascus (Greenwood), Shiloh (Anderson), Campfield (Abbeville), and New Jerusalem (Belton) Baptist Churches. Currently is a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church Anderson County Union #1 Served as Youth Advisor Served as Treasurer Founding member of the Union #1 Choir Vocations Include: Beautician Industrial worker Anderson County Head Start Teacher s Assistant Clemson Extension Agency Nutrition Coordinator, where she supervised 17 associates. Anderson & Oconee County Council on Aging Nutrition Counselor Mount Moriah Baptist Church Member of the Sanctuary Choir President of Missionary Circle # 5 President of WMU Sunday School Teacher Alma was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Her children have many wonderful memories of their mother. She was a lover of all types of music, which she passed along to them by teaching them songs as a family activity. She cooked a hot breakfast EVERY morning before they went off to school. She understood the unique personality of each child, and ministered to them accordingly. They also remember her sweet, but firm disciplinary manner, her love of humanity, and her Christian spirit. They are very proud of her conviction as a Christian, for she was not afraid to stand up and speak the truth, even if she was standing alone.

3 Alma is survived by: Sons: Jackson Elijah Ward of Starr, Robert L. Ward of Anderson, David M. Ward of Starr and Timothy L. (Sharon) Ward of Anderson; Daughters: Phyllis Ward (Stanley) Rich of Anderson, Myra D. Ward of Anderson, Malinda A. Ward of Starr and her adopted daughter/granddaughter, Monique McBride Ward of Starr; Grandsons: Stanford A. Rich of Grayson, GA, Alton Sterling Ward, of Greenville, SC, Austin L. Ward of Columbia, SC, and Kelton O. Ward of Anderson, SC; Great-Grand Children: Jaliyah and Korion Baskin of Starr Brother: James (Elizabeth) Lindsey of Belton Sisters-in-Law: Floree Mathis, Gracie Fleming, Mary Lee Lindsey, Ann Lindsey, Inez Lindsey; Brothers-in-Law: Rosemond Morris, Jr. and Fred Clinkscales Other Family: Nephews, Nieces, Cousins, and Friends Alma was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Mary Lindsey; husband, Reverend J.C. Ward; Brothers: Claude, Eugene, Paul, Ralph and Clarence Lindsey; and Sisters: Dorothy Lucille Thomas and Mary E. Morris. 5 Virtuous Woman Proverbs Chapter 31:10-31 Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. She is like the merchants ships; she bringeth her food from afar. She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her house hold, and a portion to her maidens. She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
