8 NOT SPARING THE ROD Proverbs 29:15-17 The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame. When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall. Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul. Ephesians 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. The wise use of the rod - The rod is to be taken for correction or punishment in general, not specifically for corporal punishment. 1. The rod should be the last resource. The cases in which it is necessary to appeal to the rod are very rare. 2. When the rod is used, be quite sure that a fault has been committed. Children are sometimes severely chastened when they have committed no fault, and this produces a sense of injury and a loss of confidence, which cannot fail to exert evil influences. 3. Let there be a due proportion between the fault and the correction. 4. Never chastise in a passion. (anger) 5. Let chastisement be preceded by, or accompanied with, earnest efforts to convince the offender of his fault. 6. Accompany the correction with a system of encouragement. (R. The farther we get from the Father's Loving Care, the worst off we will be. Our Best course is to return to God and his forgiveness. What do the actions of the father teach us? He yields what is his and allows us to misuse it for the freedom that he has given us. This is a story about a father and his love for his son. What would you do for the person you love? 19 The book of Proverbs climaxes with this Immortal Tribute to The Virtuous wife and character of her life and deeds. After the many words said about contentious adulterous and sinful women, it presents a beautiful portrait of wifely excellence. This praise of a noble wife was written in the form of an acrostic in the original Hebrew language with each of its 22 couplets (or doublets) beginning with the successive 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet. 24 Discretion today is defined as the quality of being careful about what you do and say so that people will not be embarrassed or offended; the quality of being discreet. It is described in the Hebrew language as taste, behavior, understanding and judgment. So according to these definitions, someone with decent discretion exudes godly wisdom and good common sense. DISCRETION: Strong's Hebrew Dictionary.2940 ט ע ם ta`am tah'-am from 2938; properly, a taste, i.e. (figuratively) perception; by implication, intelligence; transitively, a mandate: advice, behaviour, decree, discretion, judgment, reason, taste, understanding. 25 So many Christian women sabotage their inner beauty with the wrong actions, attitude and attire--but find out how you can radiate as a woman of true beauty and wisdom! A woman who lacks discretion is a woman of folly a fool. We know Psalm 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. A beautiful woman on the outside who lacks wisdom and discretion is no more attractive than a filthy pig with a shiny gold ring in its dirty snout. A woman of true beauty conducts herself in a way that doesn t give glory to herself, but gives glory and honor to the Creator of all beauty. 45 GOD HOUSEKEEPING MARCH MARCH GOD HOUSEKEEPING 46

26 Character develops within struggle and adversity. Character is the foundation of your inner beauty which reflects in your personality. Physical beauty may be in the eye of the beholder, but inner beauty is something that shines from inside for all to see. Proverbs 31:30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. When we say inner beauty, we usually are referring to that beauty manifested through the Holy Spirit living in you. The spirit shines out in your character. It really has nothing to do with you but rather is the evidence of Christ in you! It means to be overflowing with the Fruit of the Spirit. A profane woman dresses in a way that draws the wrong kind of attention to her body. She does not show wisdom and discretion in the way that she dresses. Attire is much more than slipping on an outfit. 28 1 Timothy 2:9-10 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. So how are YOU adorning yourself? There is nothing wrong with accentuating your beauty with fashionable clothing and jewelry. But fashionable faith and a gentle spirit make up the spiritual outfit that matters most. The world tells us that a woman of God is a boring, lifeless prude who has no fun in life. 29 2.) In our Attitudes. A profane woman has an attitude that is brash, rude and disrespectful. Proverbs 7:11 (She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house: ) Instead of getting easily upset when things don t go our way, we are to have the same attitude as Jesus, who humbled himself for the sake of others (Philippians 2:5-11). Philippians 2:5-11 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 30 3.) In our Actions. A profane woman also lacks discretion in her actions. She does not think before she speaks. She is a busy body, and her feet abide not in her house: (Proverbs 7:11b). Proverbs 4:26-27 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil. 31 A godly woman is quite unattractive, uninteresting and boring? No, not in the slightest! The world has got it wrong. You, Christian woman, are not consumed, nor governed, nor operate by the ways and standards of this world. You operate according to the Word and the Word only. 1 Peter 3:3-4 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. 57 GOD HOUSEKEEPING MARCH MARCH GOD HOUSEKEEPING 58

Christian women should seek to reflect the beauty, order, excellence, and grace of God through both their outward and inner person. A woman of God is a vivacious, attractive, beautiful woman filled with abundant life. 33 A woman of God not only dresses in appropriate attire, but has clothed herself with attitudes and actions that reflect the amazing holy God she serves. So put on your garments of godly splendor, and reflect the beauty, radiance, and grace of God to a world that desperately needs the truth. Proverbs 3:21-22 My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion: So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck. Wear his wisdom as you would a precious necklace. Put on God s strength and wisdom today and walk in the beauty OF HOLINESS you have through his infinite grace, love and power! A woman who loves, honors and serves the Lord is a gorgeous woman of wisdom and character. 34 13 of God's Great & Precious Promises to God-Fearing Men & Women Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations; 1. Turn all bad in my life into good. (Romans 8:28) 2. Provide for all my needs. (Romans 8:32) 3. Give me rest. (Matthew 11:28-30) 4. Meet all my needs. (Philippians 4:19) 5. Do more than I ask or can imagine. (Ephesians 3:20) 6. Provide strength and help as needed. (Psalm 46:12) 7. Bestow favor and honor, and withhold nothing good from me. (Psalm 84:11) 8.
