1 TURN YE NOT UNTO IDOLS Idols Leviticus 19:1 (KJV) And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Leviticus 19:2 (KJV) Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy. Leviticus 19:3 (KJV) Ye shall fear every man his mother, and his father, and keep my sabbaths: I am the LORD your God. Leviticus 19:4 (KJV) Turn ye not unto idols, nor make to yourselves molten gods: I am the LORD your God. DESTROY THE PICTURES, IMAGES, HIGH PLACES Numbers 33:50 (KJV) And the LORD spake unto Moses in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho, saying, Numbers 33:51 (KJV) Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye are passed over Jordan into the land of Canaan; Numbers 33:52 (KJV) Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places: Numbers 33:53 (KJV) And ye shall dispossess the inhabitants of the land, and dwell therein: for I have given you the land to possess it. Numbers 33:54 (KJV) And ye shall divide the land by lot for an inheritance among your families: and to the more ye shall give the more inheritance, and to the fewer ye shall give the less inheritance: every man's inheritance shall be in the place where his lot falleth; according to the tribes of your fathers ye shall inherit. Numbers 33:55 (KJV) But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell. Numbers 33:56 (KJV) Moreover it shall come to pass, that I shall do unto you, as I thought to do unto them. CONFOUNDED BE ALL THEY THAT SERVE GRAVEN IMAGES Psalms 97:1 (KJV) The LORD reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof. Psalms 97:2 (KJV) Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne. Psalms 97:5 (KJV) The hills melted like wax at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth. Psalms 97:7 (KJV) Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all ye gods. Psalms 97:8 (KJV) Zion heard, and was glad; and the daughters of Judah rejoiced because of thy judgments, O LORD. Psalms 97:9 (KJV) For thou, LORD, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods. Psalms 97:10 (KJV) Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked. Psalms 97:11 (KJV) Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart. Psalms 97:12 (KJV) Rejoice in the LORD, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. OUR GOD IS IN THE HEAVENS THEIR IDOLS ARE... Psalms 115:1 (KJV) Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth's sake. Psalms 115:2 (KJV) Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is now their God? Psalms 115:3 (KJV) But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased. Psalms 115:4 (KJV) Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. Psalms 115:5 (KJV) They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not: Psalms 115:6 (KJV) They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not: Psalms 115:7 (KJV) They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat. Psalms 115:8 (KJV) They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them. TRUST THOU IN THE LORD Psalms 115:9 (KJV) O Israel, trust thou in the LORD: he is their help and their shield. 3 Psalms 115:12 (KJV) The LORD hath been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron. Psalms 115:13 (KJV) He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great. Psalms 115:14 (KJV) The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children. Psalms 115:15 (KJV) Ye are blessed of the LORD which made heaven and earth. Psalms 115:16 (KJV) The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD'S: but the earth hath he given to the children of men. Psalms 115:17 (KJV) The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence. Psalms 115:18 (KJV) But we will bless the LORD from this time forth and for evermore. Praise the LORD. THEY THAT MAKE A GRAVEN IMAGE ARE.. Isaiah 44:9 (KJV) They that make a graven image are all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed. MAKING YOUR OWN GOD Isaiah 44:10 (KJV) Who hath formed a god, or molten a graven image that is profitable for nothing? Isaiah 44:11 (KJV) Behold, all his fellows shall be ashamed: and the workmen, they are of men: let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; yet they shall fear, and they shall be ashamed together. Isaiah 44:12 (KJV) The smith with the tongs both worketh in the coals, and fashioneth it with hammers, and worketh it with the strength of his arms: yea, he is hungry, and his strength faileth: he drinketh no water, and is faint. Isaiah 44:13 (KJV) The carpenter stretcheth out his rule; he marketh it out with a line; he fitteth it with planes, and he marketh it out with the compass, and maketh it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man; that it may remain in the house. Isaiah 44:14 (KJV) He heweth him down cedars, and taketh the cypress and the oak, which he strengtheneth for himself among the trees of the forest: he planteth an ash, and the rain doth nourish it. Isaiah 44:15 (KJV) Then shall it be for a man to burn: for he will take thereof, and warm himself; yea, he kindleth it, and baketh bread; yea, he maketh a god, and worshippeth it; he maketh it a graven image, and falleth down thereto. 4 and is satisfied: yea, he warmeth himself, and saith, Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire: Isaiah 44:17 (KJV) And the residue thereof he maketh a god, even his graven image: he falleth down unto it, and worshippeth it, and prayeth unto it, and saith, Deliver me; for thou art my god. Isaiah 44:18 (KJV) They have not known nor understood: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand. Isaiah 44:19 (KJV) And none considereth in his heart, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; yea, also I have baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have roasted flesh, and eaten it: and shall I make the residue thereof an abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree? Isaiah 44:20 (KJV) He feedeth on ashes: a deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand? TO WHOM WILL YE LIKEN ME? HE MAKETH IT A GOD Isaiah 46:5 (KJV) To whom will ye liken me, and make me equal, and compare me, that we may be like? Isaiah 46:6 (KJV) They lavish gold out of the bag, and weigh silver in the balance, and hire a goldsmith; and he maketh it a god: they fall down, yea, they worship. YET CAN HE NOT ANSWER Isaiah 46:7 (KJV) They bear him upon the shoulder, they carry him, and set him in his place, and he standeth; from his place shall he not remove: yea, one shall cry unto him, yet can he not answer, nor save him out of his trouble. I AM GOD, AND THERE IS NONE LIKE ME Isaiah 46:8 (KJV) Remember this, and shew yourselves men: bring it again to mind, O ye transgressors. 5 LEARN NOT THE WAY OF THE HEATHEN FOR THE CUSTOMS OF THE PEOPLE ARE VAIN Jeremiah 10:1 (KJV) Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: Jeremiah 10:2 (KJV) Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. Jeremiah 10:3 (KJV) For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. Jeremiah 10:4 (KJV) They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. Jeremiah 10:5 (KJV) They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good. THERE IS NONE LIKE UNTO THEE, O LORD Jeremiah 10:6 (KJV) Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou art great, and thy name is great in might. Jeremiah 10:7 (KJV) Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee. Jeremiah 10:8 (KJV) But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock is a doctrine of vanities. Jeremiah 10:9 (KJV) Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the founder: blue and purple is their clothing: they are all the work of cunning men. BUT THE LORD IS THE TRUE GOD Jeremiah 10:10 (KJV) But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation. Jeremiah 10:11 (KJV) Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens. HE HATH MADE THE EARTH BY HIS POWER Jeremiah 10:12 (KJV) He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion. 6 maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures. EVERY FOUNDER IS CONFOUNDED BY THE GRAVEN IMAGE Jeremiah 10:14 (KJV) Every man is brutish in his knowledge: every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them. Jeremiah 10:15 (KJV) They are vanity, and the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.
