Call to Order Meeting will be called to order by President Boucher with the singing of O Canada. Moment of silence for our fallen members. Especially remembering Jim Cain and Darby Elder F Division Honour Roll for the month of January - S/Cst Boskill, S/Cst Wilson and PSE James Frederick Murray. Special thoughts and prayers going out also to Regina Veteran members Kenn Barker, Hal Kathol, Mel Cheavins, Peter Thachik, Trefor Jones, Stu MacLachlan, George Matechuk, Dan Toppings and to all those who are sick and or shut in. President Boucher also noted that Gary Carlson and Ron Toogood both present tonight. Both are feeling better and it s good to see them out. 2. MINUTES OF OUR December 1 st Meeting held at the General Mess, Depot Division, Regina, Saskatchewan: As distributed by mail and for the month of December Motion to adopt by Gord Prawdzik, seconded by Ron Ostrum. Carried. 1

FINANCIAL STATMENT: As distributed for the month of December Per the statement circulated this evening our opening balance as of December 1 st $2,925.26; total revenue was $4, expenses were $2, Outstanding cheque for $4, resulting in an adjusted balance of $1, Motion to adopt by Leo Boisvert, seconded by Bill Greenslade. Carried. 4. Correspondence Christmas card from Jean White Christmas card for the CO F Division Christmas card from Jim Lounsbury wishing all a Merry Xmas and Happy New Year from Loverna McKenzie that us for the beautiful Candlelight Dinner the veterans hosted. She advised she felt so at home and honored to be included and welcomed so warmly by all. Passed along her wishes to all for a truly blessed Christmas and 2016 Note from Ben Walsh wishing a great Christmas Blessing to all Card and donation from Julie Gallagher and thank you for the Candle Light Dinner Christmas card and best wishes from Terry Chamberlain Note and Christmas wishes from Gord Kosloski Card thanking us for the invitation to the Candle Light Dinner from Mary Logan Card from Emma Gawthrop for the Christmas flowers and card. Note from Linda Seale thanking us for the invitation to The Candlelight Supper. It was a lovely evening and a great opportunity to visit with old acquaintances. Wishing all a very Merry Christmas. Ada Carpenter passes along that the Candlelight Dinner was a very enjoyable experience. As in the past two years, it was so good to see old friends and meet new people. Card from Neill Trail with his yearly dues. Bruce Irwin has transferred his membership to Saskatoon Division. Note from Brian Daly that he will not be renewing his membership for 2016, Brian advised he is moving out of Province, likely to Manitoba, and when he settles in his new home will look to join a Vets Division at that time. The Alberta Genealogical Society is dedicating its August issue of Relatively Speaking, our quarterly journal, to Families of NWMP Members. We are contacting people from across Western Canada to source stories about their NWMP ancestors, particularly the ones who stayed in the Prairie Provinces to settle and raise families. If you can help put us in contact with people who would be interested in participating please let me know. I have tried to send this message to Joe Healy through the RCMP Graves website but it keeps bouncing. I would appreciate your forwarding it to him if you can. I am happy to discuss the project with you or Joe or anyone else who might be interested. Thank you for any help you can provide. Another year has gone by and the old people (Me included) are getting thinner and thinner. I enjoy the newsletters and someday may just show up for a meeting, you never know. Hallo to anyone that may remember me. COMMITTEE REPORTS 5.1 Sick and Visiting Bill Greenslade reported that former Depot Division chauffer Adolf Braden passed away on Dec 22 nd. He and Jules Saganski attended Adolf s funeral. Anne Jones passes along the following to us. Trefor had a good Christmas, but shortly after that he had a setback in his health. He is now in the General Hospital and although he is stable she says his condition is day to day. At this time they don t know if he will be able to return to Brightwater. Anne wanted to sincerely thank the Veterans for the lovely poinsettia floral arrangement that was delivered to Brightwater for Trefor. She said it certainly brightened his room and it has lasted beautifully. 3
4 Bill Greenslade provided Christmas poinsettias to our sick and shut-ins on our behalf: Jim Cain, Ann Muma, Joyce Miller, Trefor Jones, Kevin O Callaghan,& Mel Cheavins and comforts to Leo Boisvert. Peter Broccolo delivered a gift card to local coffee shop for Peter Thachik. Marilyn Reddy delivered Christmas poinsettias to Ken & Reta Barker, Audrey Falconer and Emma Gawthrop on our behalf. Thank you Marilyn. Bob Kelly reported he and Roger Claussen had visited with Jim Cain prior to his passing, they dropped off some Christmas treats for him. Jim recognized them and they had a good visit. While at William Booth they also saw George Murphy who was non responsive. They had a visit with Tefor Jones who was not communicative while they were there. They also delivered flowers on our behalf to Deb Cain. 5.2 Volunteers for January Bob Roy and Bob Kelly indicated they would do it again this month. Thanks to both for their ongoing support of our sick and shut-ins. 5.3 Chapel Services Our next Veterans Chapel Service will be this Sunday January 10 th at 11:00 a.m. Chaplain Tom McCullagh will be doing our service. The next Catholic Mass is on Sunday January 25 th at 11:00 a.m. All RCMP employees, families and friends are welcome to attend. 5.4 Cadet Regimental Dinners The next Dinner is Jan 14 th and to date Peter Broccolo has confirmed he will be attending along with Chaplain John Ferrier. Clay Turner and Emil Knuth will attend the Dinner on the 21 st of the month. Dates for other Dinners are February 4 th, 11 th and 18 th. If anyone wants to attend all they need do is contact me and I will schedule them into the rotation. Drinks at 7:00 with the Dinner at 7:30 sharp. 5.5 Membership Committee We received an applications for membership from Rick Slawson and Chuck Raiter. Motion to accept as members of Regina Division by Randy Burt, Art Bonnell. Carried. Rick was present at tonight s meeting along with Cliff MacArthur and Marilyn Hedstrom. President Boucher formally inducted all three as members of Regina Division. Each presented a brief overview of their service and then were warmly welcomed by our members in attendance. 4
5 6.0 NEW BUSINESS 6.1 Veterans Affairs Canada & the RCMP Sgt Kim Hendricken will be doing a one hour presentation on the VAC and the RCMP. All Saskatchewan Serving and retired / veteran members of the Force are invited to attend. It will take place at the Roche Percée Auditorium at Depot on Wednesday, January 20th/2016 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. All those coming are asked to preregister by ing their names and intention to attend to the following address to ensure enough security passes are available and ready for the attendees: rcmp.depotinservicetraining-depotformationenmilieudetravail.grc@rcmp-grc.gc.ca 6.2 International Police Association (IPA) Presentation Steve Smedley provided a short presentation on the IPA and encouraged members to consider joining. We have attached Steve s presentation with the electronic mail out of this month s newsletter. 7.0 OLD BUSINESS 7.1 Salvation Army Kettle Drive The Regina Area Vets manned the Sally Ann Kettle at the top of the Cornwall Centre escalator all day on the 14 th, 15 th, 16 th and 17 th of December taking in $ during that time. A special thank you to those members who participated: Bob Roy, Gary Treble, Mike Spurgeon x 2, Bill Greenslade x 2, Randy Burt, John Tokarsik x 2, John Warnke, Jerry Whyte, Dave Hoeft, Marcel Fraser and Linda Barnes AGM President Boucher advised the Executive is meeting this month to confirm the requirements for committees for our 2020 AGM after which they will be calling for volunteers. He asks each of us to consider how we can assist as we all will have a role to play to make it a success. To date we have had two members step up and volunteer for positions. 7.3 Candle Light Dinner Peter Anctil advised this year s Dinner was a success. He will have a full report prepared for our next meeting. 5
6 50 / 50 DRAW Gary Carlson won $40; John Hodgson $60; and $85 to the Association. President Boucher announces our next meeting will be at the General Mess Tuesday, February 2 nd. The Dinner portion of the evening will start at 6:30 with the meeting starting at 7:30 p.m. President Boucher calls for a motion to adjourn. Motion by Clark Pitts.
