MAIN, HOUSTON, TEXAS, SPEAKER: COUNCILMAN LEE McLEMORE Vol. 18, No. 50 Councilman McLemore is Mayor Pro-tem and Senior Councilman of the City of Houston. He has been elected six consecutive times, having held office since He is a veteran of World War II, and has been self'--employed for the past twenty-five years in the field of advertising and public relations. In 1951 he received the Distinguished Service Award for "Houston's Outstanding Young Man", and in 1952 vas one of five "Outstanding Young Texans" for civic contributions to his City and State. He is also Past President of the Junior Chamber of Commerce. Councilman McLemore is now a weekend "Cowboy" on his ranch, RAVEN RIDEGE RANCH, in Huntsville, Texas.

5 LAST WEDNESDAY'S PROGRAM A group of traveling Rotarians presented banners from far of f clubs they visited recently. Gywnn Raymond added the pennants of Santa Paula and San Francisco, California and Honolulu, Haiwii; Henry Glass had been to Rome and London; Sam Montgomery visited Rome, Paris and Florence and Lou Yaeger described his visit to his former Rotary Club in t-b.dison, Wisconsin. lawyer, Reagan Burch spoke in favor of and James Hipperd spo ~ ~ e against State Right-to-Work laws. These are permitted by Section J4B of the Taft-Hartley Bill and Congress is presently considering r epeal of this Section. Supporters of these laws, 19 states have them, maintain that the law is necessary to protect the rights of individual workers from union domination. Opponents claim that such laws provide no particular protection to the individual and are basically anti-union. The Texas Right-to-Work law simply states that no individual shall be required to be a member of a union in order to obtain a job. His status with the union after employment is µot covered by this law. This issue is an important one and deserves careful unemotional analysis by each of us!
