2 Report of the Second Vice President Commission on Missionary Education and Interpretation Sister Darlene M. Justice Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established. Proverbs 16:3 To Bishop Gregory G. M. Ingram, Presiding Prelate of the 1 st Episcopal District, Rev Dr. Jessica K. Ingram, Supervisor of the 1 st Episcopal District, Mrs. Jewel McAshan, 1 st Episcopal District WMS President, Mrs. Patricia N. Smith, New Jersey Conference Branch WMS President. New Jersey Conference Branch WMS Executive Board Members, Area Chairpersons, Local WMS Presidents, Missionaries, Clergy, and Laity. I continue to praise Almighty God for the many opportunities he affords me to continue on this journey, as his word continues to be a lamp unto my feet and a light to my pathway With sincere conviction and a spirit of thanksgiving. We the members of the Commission on Mission Education and Interpretation, acknowledge the opportunities for service and witness that have been afforded to us by the God s Grace. We strive to provide available information to help us battle the many situations that we are faced with on the daily basis. Highlights: The New Jersey Conference WMS held their Annual Mass Meeting on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at St. James AME Church Atlantic City, New Jersey. Our Workshops were as followed: Project Possible (skills that propel): Presenter: Rev. Darlene Reynolds Health Insurance Market Place (Obama Care): Presenter. Sis Mary Pressley Disaster Preparedness: The value of Preparation, before, during, and after disaster. Presenter: Sis Annette Chambers. Our Noon Day Preacher: Rev. Zina Thompkins We truly had a very Good Day! Accomplishments: We have a new Scholarship Chairperson: Dr. Lola Ames Goals: Identify potential sources for Scholarships. Encourage young people to obtain information regarding scholarship that are available to them. Continue to encourage prescription for Missionary Magazine. Encourage Societies to take photos of events, so we might include in our history. We need to be more creative in presenting and using our study Guide. I would like to thank everyone who served under my commission on Mission Education and Interpretation, Area chairperson, Local President and a special
3 thanks to Our President Sis Patricia N. Smith. Who has truly been there for me, and keeps me in check, Thank You! Still on the Journey Darlene M. Justice 2 nd Vice President
4 Promotion and Missionary Education (PME) Report ~Educating, Equipping, Enriching, and Inspiring~ Don t turn your back on wisdom, for she will protect you. Love her, and she will guard you. Getting wisdom is the most important thing you can do! And whatever else you do, get good judgment (understanding). Proverbs 4:6 &7 NLT We perused the pages of the 2013 Mission Education Curriculum Health Matters, delved into some aspects of life in Mexico, and we still can write more and more on the topics found on the pages. In 2014, we continue to be faced with disparity in health care, and skyrocketing numbers of premature deaths in America due to lack of adequate care, health insurance coverage or funds to provide either or both, and poor eating habits/choices. It remains important that we continue to spread the good news, that good health matters. During the summer of 2013, NJCBWMS Worship Leader, Sister Juanita Moss and yours truly, were asked by our President, Sister Patricia N. Smith, to offer a combined workshop with the PME Directors/Worship Leaders. With teamwork, ten minutes could cover the devotions and the monthly lesson. The workshop was well attended and insightful. The gathering turned into such a blessing for us all, and we are looking forward to presenting another workshop. The Connectional PME Dialogue was held the 2 nd weekend of December 2013 at the Doubletree Hotel, Baltimore, Maryland. We brainstormed for themes, lesson topics, etc., for the 2015, and 2016 yearbooks. The theme we are feasting upon this conference year is Finding Peace in the Midst of Conflict: In the Home, In the Heart, and in the World. The Geographic Theme: Canada. As we keep up with current events, we can confirm this theme is on target. Conflict is on every hand, yet we know who has promised and does give us peace, if we put our trust and faith in Him. Our sincere thanks and appreciation to our President, the Area PME Directors, Area Chairpersons, Local PME Directors, and each missionary for continuing to purchase, use WMS Educational Curriculum, and for your support. So, let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with each of us. Submitted by, Bernice Dillings, NJCBWMS PME Director

6 HISTORIOGRAPHER/STATISTICIAN REPORT Annual Report To: Bishop Gregory G. M. Ingram, Presiding Prelate of the First Episcopal District, Rev. Dr. Jessica Ingram, Supervisor of Missions First Episcopal District, Mrs. Jewel McAshan, First Episcopal District WMS President, Mrs. Patricia N. Smith, NJ Conference Branch WMS President, NJ Conference Branch WMS Executive Board Members, Area Chairpersons, Local WMS Presidents, all Missionaries, Clergy and Laity. I grateful to almighty God for affording me the opportunity to make my second annual report as Historiographer/Statistician, under the dynamic leadership of our 17 th New Jersey Conference President Sister Patricia N. Smith. To God be the Glory. Reviewing the past history of the NJWMS, gives a reflection of how far we have come, yet how much work remains to be done: The New Jersey Conference is moving forward on Project Possible Skills That Propel. The project s is to give women the tools and techniques required to selfassess the skills and interests already existing within them that can be developed to yield personal income, while providing the community around them with a viable product or service. The New Jersey Conference Branch Queen Sister Wilma J. Farmer a member for many years of Mt. Pisgah AME, Lawnside and President of the Margret C. Cox WMS. Sister Farmer has the distinct pleasure of being crown the First Episcopal District Queen. Conference Branch Mass Meeting/Annual Training was held at St. James AMEC, Atlantic City. The meeting was well attended and the workshops on the National Affordable Care Act (Obama care) and Disaster Preparation were extremely informative. The Conference Annual Luncheon honored Mission Minded Men. On this special occasion the WMS enthusiastically showed their gratitude by showering them with gifts, and expressions of appreciation. The Conference continues to explore who and why of our local WMS names. A pictorial collage of our year s activities will be posted for your information and pleasure. Many thanks to the Area Chairpersons and Local Presidents for their submissions. For we are God s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesian 2:10 Humbly Submitted, Josephine L. Horton, Josephine L. Horton
