7 When a Disaster Strikes Since the beginning of time when a natural disaster strikes it knows no boundaries nor does it have any guidelines or rules to follow. When one occurs there is something that happens inside of most of all of us, it is the natural instinct to help others. People donate money, non perishable goods, clothing, shelter, help to repair the damages and even some are given jobs. This phenomen has happened for centuries and it is no different today. We have seen what people did when 911 happened and now hurricane Katrina and her after math (why are they named after women?). All of the Federal Government s and alot of the local resources are centered to the disaster area. Most people do not think or ask the question, How is this going to impact our area? As most people haven t even used the resources that the disaster victims will rely on. The reality is that all of our local charities will be suffering a loss of donations and they will struggle to help the needy in our local area. This is why we must remember to help our local charities. Our club is no different than others, we made a donation to the Red Cross for the Katrina Relief but we also followed it with a $ donation to our local Food Bank. We will also be starting a canned food drive/car show that we hope to be an annual event Saturday November th 19 at California Park & Sell. Please Don t Forget our Local Charities Still have needs!
