2 25th Annual Arts and Crafts Festival and Car Show Our 25th Annual Arts and Crafts Festival will be held on November 8, 2014, from 9:00AM to 3PM. For those who are new to our church, the festival is held each year in November. Proceeds are used for the church and its missions. This year we ll be having live music by Southern Gospel Group The Master s Men plus 1. There also will be a car show. The Craft Festival is on Facebook at UMC-Craft-Festival/ Watch for pictures of the crafts to be sold. Please help us publicize the Festival by ing the link to your friends, family, and co-workers. I you would like to exhibit your art, craft or product, we have outside spaces for only $ There is no charge to display a car. 5 Communication... Health Update... Thank you for all the cards, prayers, calls, visits, and meals. Both Nikki and I feel blessed to be part of the Pine Forest Church Family! We have been, and continue to be, very deeply touched by the outpouring of love we are receiving. So far, I ve completed the 15 cycles of radiation to my spine and right hip. It seems to have helped as I am able to walk and sit again. While the Doctor wants me to continue using a cane for support, it is no longer necessary in order to walk across the room. Praise the Lord! The radiation treatments to my left lung are progressing and I should be finished shortly after Labor Day. It is helping in that I am no longer coughing up blood and while my voice has not yet returned (my left vocal chord is paralyzed due to the cancer), it seems to have stabilized at a hoarse whisper. I m prayerful that the treatments will work and allow my voice to return to normal. I sure do miss singing in the choir! Meanwhile, I am getting weekly chemo treatments. Right now, I am only getting 1 of the chemo drugs because 2 weeks ago I had a bad reaction to 1 of the drugs. While I was getting the Taxol treatment, I stopped breathing and my face turned red. I m thankful Nikki was there and able to grab a Nurse. They had 6 Nurses working on me to flush my system and get me on oxygen. By the time the ambulance arrived, I was ok. Nikki and I spent 5 long hours in the ER while the Doctor and Nurses kept an eye on me. The Nurses at the Woodlands are well trained and we appreciate their dedication and compassion to heir patients. Their quick response definitely made the difference in my recovery. Please continue to be in prayer that God s Grace will heal me and drive all the cancer from my body. September Summer is ending and all Wednesday Evening activities will resume on the 3rd. Please plan on being part of the Wednesday experience. It is a wonderful opportunity to refresh your spirit in the middle of the week. The next church council meeting will be on Sunday the 28th at 5 PM. If you are on council, please plan on attending. It is the last scheduled meeting before the Annual Charge Conference in October and I m sure much business needs to be conducted. A new volleyball ministry has been started on Monday evenings from 6 to 8 PM in the gym. For information, please contact Mat Taylor or the church office. In other news, the church web site is being redone and is under construction. Please give a big Thank You to Sara Blackmon for tackling the project! The new web site will feature a Church Calendar that will automatically update whenever any changes are made in the church office. This will allow you to see what s scheduled and what facilities are being used at any time. One advantage is that you can pull it up on your smart phone or view it on the web site and print out what you need. I m confident you will be pleased with the results. I want to leave you with this message: Family is not about blood. It s about who is willing to hold your hand when you need it most. Until next month, Brian

6 Wilde Bunch Dinner Club The Wilde Bunch is raring to go out to eat and fellowship with each other again. Anyone-regardless of age-is welcome to fellowship over dinner with each other.
