Atriuum Introduction This session will introduce users to Book Systems web-based product. Participants will see how it compares to Concourse. Atriuum Features This session will cover cataloging and reports and answer questions. Bible Literacy for Church Libraries Rod Mason Libraries should be a resource for Bible Literacy. Come find out how. Promote your Bible resource material for teachers. Use this class as a model for encouraging others to study God's word which is more relevant than today's newspaper. Cataloging Items & Barcode Printing in Concourse This session will review cataloging items, comparing two items, printing barcodes for items, and answer questions. Classification Martha Hancock & Toni Everard Classification Declassifed - come and see how to make order out of disorder so your patrons can locate their materials. Creating Reports in Concourse This session will cover the various kinds of reports (catalog, circulation, patron) and mediagraphies, and answer questions. Cricut for Promotion Jennifer Hobgood Do you or your church own a Cricut machine? Need ideas on how to use it for library promotion? Jennifer will talk about all three Cricut options available. Disciple Making Center / Disciple Making Hub (for both small & large churches) Pastors are focusing on Disciple Making and reevaluating ministries in their churches to encourage an emphasis on Disciple Making. Some churches are closing their libraries because they need the space or want to replace it with Disciple Making Centers or Hubs. Are you prepared to offer changes in the traditional church library design so that your church will be able to move forward without throwing out the entire library ministry? This class is taught by a librarian who is actively transforming a traditional church library into a Disciple Making Library HUB and will offer lots of ideas you can implement that will make the library in your church a true Disciple Making Center! Making Disciples After Jesus issued the command to make disciples of all nations in Matthew 28, His followers enthusiastically obeyed His challenge and Christianity spread. As church librarians today, how are we to prepare and equip those we serve to be Disciple Makers? We will look at resources, methods, ideas, etc. you can offer in your church. Mission Control: A Business Approach to Church Libraries Carol Buckles Seeing the big picture, 5 year plans, several methods of selling as well as budgeting strategies.

5 VIRGINIA CHURCH LIBRARY ASSOCIATION Course, cont d MS Excel for Use Carol Buckles Microsoft Excel is a searchable spreadsheet program that can be used as a "card catalog," for those libraries which cannot afford a purchased system. Set-up, data entry, search features and more. If you want a copy of my setup, bring a thumbnail drive or CD-ROM. Processing Children s Teaching Resources Nancy King Making resources more accessible for preschool & children s workers including books, DVD s, teaching pictures, puzzles, etc. Promotion Worthy Are you working hard to grab the attention of readers, updating the look of the library, rewarding patrons with great prizes? But, is it WORTHY of the widow s mite that funds the budget, of the limited time your patrons have for reading, of the effort your team is making to pull it all off? Let s re-examine the WORTHINESS of our library ministry and come away with a list of practical and WORTHY ideas for promotion. Roundtable Discussions Promotion, Let s Talk (includes CVLI copyright) Rah, rah! Ha, ha! Blah, blah What response are you getting with your church library ministry promotion? Are you worn out with hauling display objects to and from storage? Maybe it s time we take a closer look at how we do promotion. Let s talk Concourse & Atriuum Q & A Bring your questions about Atriuum and Concourse ResourceMate Dottie Lewis Dottie Lewis will lead a roundtable discussion about the library software ResourceMate. She uses this in her library and is especially fond [LOVES] its Volunteer part of the program. Her staff has learned to use it with ease. As she says, RM has its vagaries like any software. She will demonstrate it and answer your questions. Weeding Your Collection When is it time to let go of some of those old items? Becky Moore & Lee Smith Sears List of Subject Headings We will look at the newest 2018 edition of this essential reference tool used to assign subject headings to describe the content of each book. It is the subject headings that are the keys to unlocking the library collection. This new update is filled with new subject headings created in the last four years. Delivering a core list of key headings, together with patterns and examples to guide the cataloger in creating further headings as required. Sears List of Subject Headings has been the standard thesaurus of subject terminology for small and medium-sized libraries since Weeding and Proofreading Collection with Concourse This session will create/modify reports to help with collection analysis and weeding, and answer questions. P A G E 5 Writing for Publication Do you have something worthy of publication? This class will go over the steps authors need to do in order to get their writings published.
