Using your Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, or by transferring from your checking or savings accounts, you can set up an automatic Offertory or Building Fund contribution. A record of your contributions is kept on your account online, as well as posted to our records for tax purposes. Many parishioners enjoy the ease of giving electronically and the Parish has received over $100,000 in donations online since the program started in May. Your skills and generosity made for filling meals and a welcomed time of fellowship and conversation. Many thanks! QUO VADIS DAYS (June 12 16) is a five-day vocation discernment camp for young men (ages 15-25), which will give you the opportunity to learn how to discern your vocation and learn more about priesthood. FIAT DAYS (June 26-28) is a retreat for young women willing to discern God s call in their life. Brochures for them can be found in the Chapel Narthex. Orders with payment should be put in an envelope marked Hersheypark and placed in the collection basket or dropped off at the Parish Office by Friday, April 29. NO EXCEPTIONS. WEDDING ANNIVERSARY MASS Were you married in 1961? In honor of your 50th Wedding Anniversary, there will be a special Mass and reception on Sunday, June 5, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., at Good Shepherd Parish. Bishop McFadden will be the celebrant. Neighbors Helping Neighbors Remember to utilize the Community Aid collection bin, which is located in the Good Shepherd parking lot behind the Parish Hall. Community Aid is a faithbased, locally run, non-profit organization that raises funds for distribution to local schools, churches, synagogues and non-profit organizations. Your donations of clothing and shoes can be purchased by people in need for a greatly reduced cost in the Community Aid store on the Carlisle Pike. Good Shepherd Parish will receive money from Community Aid, based on the weight of the items in the bin each time it is emptied. There is no charge for the parish to participate in the program. Receipts for donated goods for this 501 (C)(3) charity are available at the Community Aid store on the Carlisle Pike. EASTER EGG HUNT 2011 Thank you to all who participated in the Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Good Shepherd Knights of Columbus Council More than 100 children searched the lawn near the Parish Hall for candy and snacks before the rain started. The Easter Bunny greeted the children before and after the hunt. Special thanks to Knight Mike Moore who chaired the event. 4 EASTER SUNDAY: THE RESURRECTION OF THE LORD Religious Education Announcements There will be NO Religious Education Classes on Monday, April 25, Confirmation Practice will be held Wednesday, April 27, at 7:00 p.m. in the Church. The Sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated on Saturday, April 30, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. Confirmands, please arrive no later than 1:30 p.m. After Confirmation there will be a reception in the Parish Hall with refreshments and pictures with Bishop McFadden. On Monday, May 2, 2011, Religious Education families are invited to attend Religious Education for our First May Crowning of Mary Program. An ice cream social will follow the program. It begins at 6:30 p.m. and ends at 7:30 p.m. Contact the Religious Education Office at if you have any questions. First Communion will be celebrated on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. The Church will not be opened until 9:30 a.m. First Communicants please arrive between 9:30-9:40 a.m. Thank You to Mr. & Mrs. Hilton, Mr. & Mrs. Carroll, Mr. & Mrs. Wonsiewicz and Mr. & Mrs. Monahan for hosting our Confirmation Net Team Retreat Leaders. We are in need of volunteers to help teach, work with crafts, music and snack. Vacation Bible School will be held June from 9:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. We need Pre-K/K, grade 3-4, and grade 5-6 Catechists/Teachers. Please contact Amanda Spahr at to sign up. Cape May, NJ Spring is right around the corner. Each spring Youth Ministry visits Cape May, NJ. This year we are going May It promises spiritual growth and fun! We help the Saint Mary by-the-sea Sisters get their oceanfront retreat house ready for the summer season. In addition, we spend some time on the beach and have a mini retreat. This trip is open to all Good Shepherd parishioners in high school. The cost is $45. It includes transportation, retreat fees, food and housing. A small amount of spending money is suggested for Saturday night site-seeing and Sunday dinner on the way home. GOOD SHEPHERD SCHOOL S ANNUAL SPRINGFEST! Good Shepherd Parishioners are invited to come enjoy Springfest, where there is something for everyone! It is on Friday, May 13th, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. There will be lots of games, inflatable rides, great food and fun! Themed-baskets full of goodies will also be raffled off.
