The Nursery is available for newborn to 2 years old. *Please stand in body or spirit, as able. Enlarged copies of the bulletin are available in the narthex. Ushers will provide a listening device upon request. You are invited to wave a worship flag in the aisles or chancel during any hymn. The flags are in the containers by the chancel platform. WE APPROACH GOD Entry of the Bible & Lighting of the Christ Candle Advent Candle Lighting Laurie and Nicholas Reid 1. On this third Sunday in Advent we light the candles of Hope and Peace again. (first two candles are relit) We remember our longing for God to be with us and to bring peace. 2. Today we light a third candle and name it Joy. (pink candle is lit) 1. As we light it we look forward, not to the temporary joy of Christmas lights and Christmas gifts, but rather to the joy and laughter of the ones finding food and shelter. 2. As the candle burns we listen for the deep, lasting joy of those who know they are loved and cherished by God. All: We are listening for the joyful sounds of God s joy in justice. Send your Holy Spirit on us, O God, and give us courage to live for you in this world. Help us through our words and deeds to be heralds of your joyful reign of justice. Amen.

Advent Prayer (in unison) VU #26 Who are we, O God, that you should come to us? Yet you have visited your people and redeemed us in Your Son. As we prepare to celebrate his birth, make our hearts leap for joy at the sound of Your word, and move us by Your spirit to bless Your wonderful works. We ask this through him whose coming is certain, whose day draws near, even Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen. *Opening Hymn: Let Us with a Gladsome Mind VU #234 Prayer for Grace (in unison) Loving God, during this season of Advent, our hearts should be overflowing with joy as we await the wondrous birth of Your Son, our Lord Jesus. We confess though, that at this time of year, the business and preparation of Christmas often leaves us tired and harried. Consumerism and busy preparations often leave us drained of energy and too tired to truly rejoice and revel in the sacred time that this season is meant to be. Help us, we pray, to settle our hearts and minds, that we may truly rejoice in our Lord s birth. Help us, as we rejoice, to show our Joy to the world, that all may celebrate with us, to Your glory. Share the Warmth Tree: We are looking for donations of waterproof (not knitted) mittens and gloves of all sizes, plus knitted scarves, hats and toques, for distribution to the needy. Please adorn our tree in the back corner of the sanctuary with your donations. Thank you. Minute for Mission: Many refugees have overcome significant challenges in order to settle in Canada. The Manitoba Interfaith Immigration Council, will help them to rebuild their lives and make a new life in Canada, through our gifts to the Mission and Service Fund. Christmas at Kingsview Library: Check out the bookcarts and visit the Kingsview Library to see the great collection of Christmas books, CD s & DVD s we have for the children and adults. Blessings to you from the library! Youth Retreat: It s the Faithful Friday Youth Group s first Retreat! All youth in grades 4-12 welcome. From Friday January 22 to Sunday January 24, Elizabeth Plancke and Kelly Aitchison, the Faithful Friday Youth Group leaders, along with Rev. Sue Genge and Glenn Genge, and Rev. Louise Sams and John Sams, Rob Madill and Rebecca Plancke will be taking youth to Camp Quin-Mo-Lac for a weekend of outdoor fun, games, music, worship and spiritual exploration. For more information please contact the church office. Thank you to Diane & Bob Jackson, Pat & David Fletcher, Kathy Steenburgh, Jean Dart and Ila Robertson for greeting for the month of November. The sympathy of the congregation is extended to the family of Marjorie Kirkconnell, who died on December 2, and to Orma Lean, on the death of her dear friend Sam. We look for support from the Congregation and Community. We also would appreciate any help that be given in assisting in staffing by anyone and young people who are looking to serve and obtain credits for their Community Service requirements. Spaghetti Dinner, Concert and Silent Auction - Saturday, January 30 - a fundraiser for our church s July 2016 Habitat for Humanity house building project in Guatemala.
