3 PRAYER CONCERNS: please note the (purple cover) notebook in the narthex where prayer concerns can be entered before the service. The minister will extract the page just before 10:30 and include concerns in the Prayers that day. If you wish your concern to be passed on to the Prayer Group, please add an * beside your concern. It is sometimes good to put your own name beside the concern (so the minister or Prayer Group can follow up). TODAY MARKS THE BEGINNING OF THE ADVENT SEASON. The children will receive their advent materials to aid them in preparing their hearts and minds for the coming of the Christ Child. There are also adult devotionals placed in the narthex. You are all welcome to pick one up to enhance your own spiritual journey through this time of anticipation. WHITE GIFT SUNDAY DECEMBER 6 TH On arrival, please place your unwrapped gift (toys, books, games, clothing for all ages) under the tree monetary donations are also welcome. The gifts will be delivered to the Inner City Outreach program. They will be included with the Christmas Hampers that your donations at Easter and Christmas help fund. INNER CITY OUTREACH DINNER SATURDAY, DECEMBER 12TH - 5:30 p.m. (the dinner begins at 6:30 p.m.) MacNab and several other Presbyterian Churches will be hosting the Christmas dinner for Inner City Outreach Ministry at the Eva Rothwell Centre on Wentworth St. North. We are in need of volunteers to serve and help clean up, and if you are volunteering we would appreciate it if you might bring a pie or two with you. The first course is being catered this year. 5 PSALM 98-REFRAIN #1 Refrain: New songs of celebration render to God who has great wonders done. O sing to the Lord a new song, for the Lord has done marvelous things. God s right hand and holy arm have won the victory. The Lord has made known the victory, and has revealed vindication in the sight of the nations. The Lord has remembered steadfast love and faithfulness to the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the victory of our God. Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises. Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre, with the lyre and the sound of melody. R R FROM THE SESSION MEETING NOVEMBER 18, 2015 Steve Baldry opened the meeting for a reflection of 1 st Corinthians 12:27 Now you are all the body of Christ and individually members of it. Treasurer Doug Coutts was invited to present the budget for 2016 It was agreed to accept the budget with minor adjustments and to recommend its approval to the congregation at the Congregational meeting November 22 nd The sound system continues to be a work in progress Session will remain mindful of Syrian refugee efforts recognizing that the City of Hamilton will be asking for support from churches in the community To date, 5 elders will be attending the Human Sexuality Conference on January 30 at Chedoke Presbyterian Church Positive comments regarding the Remembrance Sunday Service were received The Session received with regret the resignation of Kevin Russell as Clerk of Session, a position he has held for the past 4 years. Elders present each expressed their appreciation for Kevin s dedication and skill in this position. It was agreed to seek two Co-Clerks from the eldership: one responsible for administration and the other for pastoral and worship liaison with Deacons. Steve Baldry outlined several areas he would be emphasizing and exploring for church growth and renewal Information regarding Leading With Care will be posted on bulletin boards It was agreed that Police checks for volunteers would be paid for by the church (Part of Leading with Care) The Volunteer Application Form and Covenant of Care form were approved for use (Part of Leading with Care) Congregation Life Committee is exploring the possibility of a church fundraiser event for spring 2016 Coffee Hour Helpers are needed to begin in the New Year. The Mission Committee reported that three boxes of mitts, gloves, scarves, hats were collected from the Mitten Tree and will be delivered to Inner City programs. A thank you card was received from Megan Schuurman of RE-create, a program for at risk youth for the donation from the Mission Committee The next Communion Service is December 6 th, 2016 The Annual General Meeting will be held Sunday, February 21, 2016 The meeting closed with prayer at approximately 9:30pm
