We are using the Lentil As Anything approach: Lentil as Anything are not-for-profit vegan restaurants where guests contribute what they feel their meal and experience is worth, according to their own financial ability.
3 So you are asked to pay what you can/want on the evening. Lentil as Anything s philosophy is a meal is a platform for sharing stories and culture, of experiencing the lives of the people you seat yourself with. Restaurant culture separates us from the group at the next table, and finances separate some from the table entirely. Lentil as Anything believes everyone deserves a place at the table. The Lentil as Anything mission is to provide food without borders, without borders of race or socioeconomic status. Ceramic Tiles Unveiled - There will be a special 'Come One, Come All' On The Way Service Sunday 19 August where the ceramic tiles made by children and various family members from 'On the Way' will be unveiled. Bring your mum & dad, grandparents, aunties, uncles & cousins. Invite your neighbour! Bring and share some finger food lunch to enjoy following the service. Cursillo Ultreya St Arnaud, Saturday 28 July. Doors open at 11.00am, bring and share lunch is at 12.00pm and the meeting will start at 12.45pm. If you would like to attend and be part of car pool from St Mary's, please see Rob Aitken. Unspoken: What Will Become of Me? - is a FREE community event organised by Bendigo Health Advance Care Planning Program. The event uses art and performance to generate awareness, understanding and action around end of life conversations in a safe space. The work explores the themes of ageing, declining capacity, diminished autonomy and sense of identity gently and with humour. You are encouraged to bring along family and loved ones to Unspoken to start the conversation and continue talking long after the show has left town. Flyer available in Narthex. To register please call or acp@bendigohealth.org.au A Prayer for Sea Sunday (sorry didn t have the space last week): Heavenly Father, we give thanks to you for your creation and all the beauty in this world. We thank you for the ocean, in its abundance, and for the people who toil on its surface. Without our brothers and sisters who are seafarers, we would not be able to enjoy all the blessings of this world. Enfold them in your fatherly love, guide their passage through storm, swell and darkness. May we be mindful of our Global Family and be truly grateful for the sacrifices seafarers make each day. Amen.

6 God Loves A Cheerful Giver Genesis Our Stewardship text for today is, Is anything too wonderful for the Lord? In theory we Christians believe that nothing is too wonderful for the Lord. God can heal the sick, feed the hungry, forgive the sins of the whole world, and even raise Jesus from the dead. Our Lord is wonderful indeed. Yet when it comes to money, we sometimes act as if looking after us financially would be in God s too-hard basket. Sure, Jesus rose from the dead, but if I give more than a trickle of my resources to the Church, how can I be sure I won t go dangerously into the red? But countless people, who regularly give scarily large proportions of their income and assets as offerings to God, can testify that God does look after them financially. So, when you need money, try giving money, and asking God to help you. Not even this is too wonderful for the Lord! BEAUT resources 2005 Parish Operating Account Details: Acc Name: Anglican Parish of Kangaroo Flat Bank: Bendigo Bank BSB No: Acc No: Reference: offertory or giving or tithe PSALM 23 (ABORIGINAL STYLE) By Rev Ron Williams My big fella boss up in the sky is like the father emu. He will always look after me and take me to green grass, And lead me to where the water holes are full and fresh all the time. He leads me away from the thick scrub and helps me keep safe from the hunters, dingoes and eagles. At night time when I m very lonely and sad, I will not be afraid, for my Father covers me with His feathers like a father emu. His spear and shield will always protect me. My big fella boss always gives me a good feed in the middle of my enemies. In hot times he makes me sit down in a cool shade and rest. He gives me plenty of love and care all of my life through. Then I will live with my big fella boss like a father emu, that cares for his chickens in good country full of peace and safety, Forevermore and evermore.
7 The Rector Writes The great rescue There is no doubt that the world sat on the edge of their chairs the past couple of weeks as we awaited with bated breath the rescue of the 12 boys and their soccer coach in Thailand. What began as a team building exercise for the boys and the coach turned into a horrific nightmare albeit the miraculous rescue some sixteen days later. For over two weeks the boys and coach were trapped about a kilometre below the earth s surface where they sat huddled in the dark on the slippery muddy slopes of the cave. A rescue party had to crawl and dive through 2km of treacherous cave passages thwart with danger. It was a rescue operation which united the world and will no doubt be long remembered and go down in history. Hundreds worked tirelessly around the clock to eventually, successfully bring all to safety. Rightly so, those who were part of this amazing operation have been heralded as hero s including, the Navy Seal who unfortunately died whilst fighting to save others. I cannot help but see so many similarities with our own rescue story. In a very real sense Jesus saved us from the slippery slopes of sin. At great cost to himself and his own life, he willingly gave himself for us so we would not perish. Jesus left his father s side in heaven to come to us and reach out to us so we could be lifted up and out of the miry clay. Through Him we are brought from darkness to his marvellous life. Christ himself set our feet upon the rock and, shelters us under the shadows of the wings of the Almighty. Our reading from Ephesians today is a great anthem of praise to God for all he has done for us In Christ. Just as we and the world continue to express our gratitude and admiration for those involved in the rescue of the soccer team and their coach, may we also continue with heart felt thanks to lift our praise to God. He gave his all to save us. He gave his best to rescue us and grant us new life. May we live for his praise and glory and May the eyes of our heart be enlightened in order that we may know the hope to which he has called us, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power in us who believe (Ephesians 1: 18-19). Blessings, Tracey George Millar 21 July
