2 Message from Supreme President Anthony W. Mendes PFSA Co. 16, Newark I hope each and everyone had a very eventful summer. On July 24th, I attended the Newark Holy Ghost Festa, and participated in their parade to and f r o m S t. E d w a r d s C a t h o l i c Church. Accompanying me in the parade was Supreme Business Board of Director, Michael Castro, Executive Secretary Carla Cardoso, Supreme Master of Ceremonies, Pedro Vieira, Past Supreme Presidents, Angela Pereira and Mary Medeiros, and member of the PFSA Office Staff, Lidia Mata. Photos by: Jose Avila I appreciate and thank them for their effort to join and participate. A special Thank You goes to Lucas Cardoso, son of Carla and Luis Cardoso for carrying the PFSA Banner. Thank you Council 16 for the invitation to the wonderful Festa. On August 7, accompanied by my wife Gloria we attended the Visitors Hour at the LUSO/SPRSI convention held in Santa Clara. It was a pleasure to present plaques to LUSO outgoing President, Lisa Amaral and SPRSI outgoing President Arlinda Soares. I also welcomed the new incoming presidents, LUSO Manuel Vie ira a nd S P RS I Geraldin e Thomas. Thank you all for the nice gifts. I am looking forward to my first Fraternal Event to be held on September 16th hosted by Council #7 Gustine-Newman. I hope to see many of you there. 3 Message from the Chief Executive Officer John A. R. Salvador Dear Fraternal Sisters and Brothers: I extend my sincerest and heartfelt Congratulations to our newly installed Supreme President, Mr. Anthony W. Mendes and all the Supreme Line Officers, Fraternal Board of Trustees, State Youth Leaders and State s Adult Leaders who were elected and installed at our PFSA Convention in July. Best wishes for a safe and successful administration. Also, a most deserving Thank you to all of those who assisted at the Convention to make it an enjoyable event. PFSA Membership Representatives (Sales Agents) now have the needed tools to provide a comprehensive and professional consultation to our valued existing members and potential new members to prepare a complimentary needs analysis to determine an individual s financial needs. The new Term Plans will be available soon and we will also be offering an Interest Sensitive Whole Life and a Flexible Premium Universal Life Insurance Products in the very near future, which will allow anyone to obtain products to meet their respective financial needs. Please accept our Membership Representatives into your homes and at your upcoming Fraternal Council Meetings to receive valuable information on PFSA Offerings. CALL TO ACTION!!! We are still accepting members, who are at least 21 years of age, to serve on the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) to support our redeveloped youth program. 5 Submit your photos of members in action at the latest community events. Let us know how you are helping your community. Lidia Mata at Making Volunteering Fun and a Tradition Organize a food drive in your council, neighborhood, church or school. Winter Help organize a coat drive, warm winter wear, blankets. Support the local homeless shelter by donation gently used board games, clothing or can goods. Stuff warm socks with a few snacks and fruit to pass out to people who are homeless. Help the less fortunate by donating can goods to a food bank during the holiday season. Random Acts of Kindness: Decorate placemats for Meals on Wheels or create greeting cards. Rack someone s front yard, help with groceries, bake cookies, help decorate for the holidays, assist with doctor appointment or small errands. Sponsor a Family: You may know of someone that is going through a difficult time. The council can adopt a family for the holiday by maybe purchasing a small gift, providing a box of food or donating some holiday decorations. 5
