2 To God be the Glory! Today, we honor and recognize those who have labored in either helping or supporting our Founder, the late Reverend Joseph Timothy Kirkland. I can only imagine that for many of you, it was not an easy beginning. so many who have made their transition from this side of heaven during my tenure. Within the last three months two of our wonderful founding members, Sister Josephine Bright and Gladys Freeman, made their transition. However, God always has a remnant and today we celebrate, recognize Mrs. Lydia P. Kirkland, is still in the number along with her daughters Judge Lydia Y. (Vonnie) Kirkland and Dr. Claudia Lyles. The depth of your faith and dedication to the Church of the Redeemer Baptist does not go unrecognized. We say, thank you to those who believed. The Best is Yet to Come! Because of Calvary, Rev. He is a product of the public schools of Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Campbell graduated from Norfolk State University, Norfolk, Virginia, with honors, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work. He received his Master of Divinity Degree from Andover Newton Theological School, Newton Centre, Massachusetts with honors. There he was a recipient of the Whittemore Award for Outstanding Preaching and Promise in the Parish Ministry. His Doctor of Ministry degree was earned from United Theological Seminary, Dayton Ohio, where he was a Samuel D. Proctor and Otis Moss fellow. Additional post-graduate studies were done at Andover Newton Theological School, Harvard Divinity School, Boston College, Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Oxford University (Mansfield College). Dr. Campbell is an American Baptist pastor and has been recently affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Virginia, Baptist World Alliance, and the Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Convention. He has served as senior pastor of churches in Massachusetts, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the ministry of Jesus Christ, through his preaching, teaching, pastoral skills, counseling skills and ability to restore and heal broken churches and faith communities. The Christian ministry has afforded him the opportunity to preach and teach throughout this nation and world. Following his retirement in 2007, he has continued to assist churches and pastors in transitional ministry, pulpit supply, and counseling. His sole purpose is to bring the people of God together in a covenantal relationship of trust, faith and love. He does this through workshops, conferences, counseling sessions, and lectures. It is his belief that fractured churches, pastors and ministries cannot engage in the effective healing of a broken community. He is married to the former Jan Boykins and is the father of three adult children, Gilbert, lll, Erica and Lauren.
