6 Programs at Congregation Emanu-El BEIT MIDRASH at Congregation Emanu-El TUESDAY November 6, 13, and 27: at 7:30 pm In Hebrew Beit means house and Midrash is the classical Jewish tool used to search for meaning, a place to learn Torah and explore personal spiritual growth. Beit Midrash Emanu-El offers traditional Talmud study with a progressive academic twist. Meetings will be on alternate Tuesdays, twice a month at Shul. If you are interested please contact Rabbi Harry at rabbiharry@gmail.com. This course is designed to immerse students in Talmud study and to also build textual skills. MYSTIC MOCHA at the Solstice Café on Pandora St. FRIDAYS at Solstice Cafe 12:30 to 1:30 pm Come explore the weekly Torah portion with Rabbi Harry. Together we will mine classical Kabbalistic and Chasidic commentaries to find personal insights and spiritual nourishment, as we search for deeper meaning and understanding. Grab a nosh and join Rabbi Harry for this weekly learning. LUNCH AND LEARN at Congregation Emanu-El WEDNESDAYS - 12 noon Bring your dairy brown bag lunch and join Rabbi Harry for some spiritual nourishment at lunchtime. Some weeks we will explore the relevancy of Torah in relation to Bio Ethics, some weeks we will look at current events through a progressive Torahitic lens, some weeks we will delve into the weekly Torah portion for personal insights and meaning. If you have a burning Jewish question we can address that too. KABBALAT SHABBAT & DINNER at Congregation Emanu-El FRIDAY, November 16 at 6:00 pm Friday night is a time for warmth, connection and celebration. Come sanctify Shabbat and share some of that special Shabbat light with family and friends. Kabbalat Shabbat at Emanu-El is about song, prayer, dance, great food, laughter and bonding. Cost: $18 adults, $10 students, and $5 children to contribute towards food. RSVP by paying online at ca/ or mailing your cheque to the synagogue by November 13. THURSDAY November 22: Emanu-El s Fix the Roof Auction at the Da Vinci Centre (195 Bay St) - 7:00pm What do Leonard Cohen, Robert Bateman, Marc Garneau, Phyllis Serota, Margaret Atwood and The National Ballet of Canada have in common? Along with other celebrities and local businesses, they ve donated items for a live and silent auction.
