8 TLC Meryl and Ron Gallatin Tzedakah, Learning & Chesed Program at B nai Torah Congregation Backpack Program Over 58% of American school children receive their primary meal each day through the National School Lunch Program, which provides nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free lunches to children each school day. This program sends backpacks filled with meals and snacks home with elementary school children each Friday during the school year. We are proud to support this program at two local elementary schools, in partnership with Hands on Tzedakah (HOT) by providing volunteers and financial support. Just $6 fills a backpack of food for the weekend for a child in need! HOT will match each contribution, doubling the impact you can make. Please make checks out to B nai Torah Congregation and include TLC Backpack Program on the memo line. Friendly Visitor Program Bringing joy to isolated, lonely seniors. Volunteers needed to spend an hour or two every week or every other week visiting with a Ruth & Norman Rales Jewish Family Services Help. Hope. Humanity. senior at their home in the Boca Raton/Delray Beach area. Activities may include playing cards, listening to music or just spending time remembering the good old days. Socialization is very important for seniors, and volunteer visits brighten their day and week! Develop strong bonds and enhance the quality of life of clients by providing social interactions and support. Help keep our seniors connected with the community and the outside world. Our next hosting week starts Sunday, December 20th and takes place at a house in east Boca Raton. Volunteers are needed to play, dine and socialize with homeless children and parents; to help in the Family Promise office in Delray Beach; and to drive the Family Promise van (no special license needed).
