1 This lesson is a series of songs and conversations about with an emphasis on how God took care of Noah and how He takes care of us today. Each segment of the story is listed on the right edge of the page, with the main emphasis for that page highlighted. The teacher will introduce a new manipulative or visual for each page. The body of the page is the songs associated with each experience. Each song s common tune is in parenthesis above the song. 1

Read story and then tell the kids that we need to tell the story to the mascot again. hold up, open and touch pages then use book to illustrate the story. When done, set the mascot aside to watch as you retell the story with the kids. 3

4 God told Noah to build a big boat called an ark. Noah obeyed God. He and his sons took their saws and cut down trees so they could begin building an ark. Let s pretend to saw down some trees like Noah did. Use your hand and cut like me. Pretend to saw with your hand and have children imitate. (The Wheels On the Bus) The saw in my hand sounds buzz, buzz, buzz, Buzz, buzz, buzz, Buzz, buzz, buzz, The saw in my hand sounds buzz, buzz, buzz, Sawing down the trees. 4

5 After Noah and his sons had the wood ready, they began to put the ark together. They used their hammers and built the ark. (The Wheels on the Bus) The hammer in my hand sounds Tap, tap, tap. Tap, tap, tap. Tap, tap, tap. The hammer in my hand sounds Tap, tap, tap. Driving pegs in wood. pass out a hammer to each child and have them pound on the carpet or on foam squares if you are sitting at a table 5 (This Old Man) Tap, tap, tap. Tap, tap, tap. You can hear the hammer tap.

6 When the ark was finished God sent two of each kind of animal to live in the ark. (pass out animals) Let s put our animals in the ark. (SAY) Noah said, It s going to rain and rain and rain. God helped me build this ark. Who will come in and stay dry? Zebras, will you come in with me? (Child puts his animals in the ark.) Gorrillas, will you come in with me? Lions, will you come in with me? Tigers, will you come in with me? Elephants, will you come in with me? (Repeat naming each kind of animal that is being used.) Pass out an animal to each child. Let them put the animals in the ark as you ask them to come in. 6

7 When everyone was safe in the ark, God closed the door. Rain clouds filled the sky and rain began to fall. Soon water was everywhere and the ark began to rock on the waves. Noah and all of the animals were safe inside the ark. (Hickory, Dickory Dock) Drip-i-ty, drip-i-ty, drop The raindrops fall plip, plop The clouds are dark Rain hits the ark Drip-i-ty, drip-i-ty drop. (Row, Row, Row Your Boat) Splash, splash, splashing down Rain drops hit the ark Splash, splash Splash, splash They re falling on the ark. Holding the cloud with a spray bottle behind it, spray a fine mist. Have the kids hold out their hands to catch a raindrop. 7

8 After a long time, the sun came out. Noah let a dove go out the window to see if all of the water had dried up. The dove brought back a leaf from a tree to show Noah that the water was going away. They knew that soon they could get out of the ark. Pass out dove fingerpuppets to each child and have them fly around looking for land. 8 (The Wheels on the Bus) The dove from the ark flies Up and down, Up and down, Up and down. The dove from the ark flies Up and down, Looking for land. (Mary Had a Little Lamb) A dove went out flying round, Flying round, flying round. A dove went out flying round, Looking for some land. 9 When Noah opened the door and went outside, he saw a beautiful rainbow. God told him that the rainbow means there will never be a flood again. When we see a rainbow we can remember that God took care of Noah and God takes care of us. (The Wheels On The Bus) The rainbow in the sky is glistening, Glistening, glistening. The rainbow in the sky is glistening, With its colors bright. Show a large rainbow or pass out small rainbows to each child. 9

10 Noah and his family were so glad that God had taken care of them that they built a special place to pray called an altar and said thank you to God. We can tell God that we are thankful that he takes care of us. All bow heads and pray. (PRAY) Dear God, Thank you for giving us the story of Noah in our. Thank you for taking care of his family.
