BIBLE PASSAGE: Noah and the Ark Genesis 6:5 9:17 BIBLE STORY FOR TODDLERS God made people to love and obey Him, but people only wanted to do wrong things. God was going to send a big flood. God told Noah to make an ark to save his family and some animals from the flood. Noah obeyed God. When it was time, God told Noah to take his family and the animals inside the ark. It rained for 40 days and 40 nights. The ark floated on top of the water, and God kept safe those inside the ark. When the ground was dry, God told Noah to come out of the ark. God promised to never flood the earth again. God placed a rainbow in the sky to show He would remember His promise. BABIES GOSPEL GEMS **God is good. 2 Babies Activities EXPLORE THE BIBLE Provide hand-size Bibles for babies to hold and open. Open your Bible to Genesis 6 9. Say the Gospel Gems. Read the key passage card printable. SAY: GOD MADE EVERYTHING. God made people, but people did not want to obey God. God sent rain to cover the land, but God kept Noah s family and some animals safe. SING A SONG Sing to the tune of God Is So Good : God made *the world, God made the world, God made the world, God made everything. *Substitute people and animals SAY: GOD MADE EVERYTHING. God is good and holy. God kept Noah s family and some animals safe. READ BOOKS ABOUT RAIN Provide board books or textured books about weather or the rain to read to babies. SAY: GOD MADE EVERYTHING. LISTEN TO A RAIN STICK Provide a rain stick or make one before class using the instructions in the Make a Rain Stick printable. Invite babies to listen to the rain as they turn the rain stick over. 3 Toddler Activities CIRCLE TIME (5 MINUTES) Provide small Bibles for toddlers to handle. Read the key passage card and guide toddlers to say it after you. Read the Bible story or tell it in your own words. SAY: GOD MADE EVERYTHING. God is good, and God is holy! PAINT WITH SPONGE SHAPES Provide clothespins, animal-shaped sponges, painting smocks, and watercolor paint. Demonstrate how to dip the sponge into the paint and then onto construction paper. Keep wipes handy for cleanup. SAY: GOD MADE EVERYTHING. God made people and animals. God kept Noah s family and some animals safe in the ark. God is good. GET IN THE BOAT Use masking tape to outline a square boat on the floor. Call toddlers by name, two at a time, to come sit in the boat. SAY: GOD MADE EVERYTHING. God made people and all the animals. God kept Noah, his family, some animals safe in the ark. Later, God sent Jesus because He loves us. WHAT DID NOAH HEAR? Invite toddlers to make animal sounds with you. (Sample sounds: roar, meow, woof, quack, and so forth) Talk about how Noah and his family lived on the ark with animals for nearly a year! SAY: GOD MADE EVERYTHING. God is good, and God is holy. BIBLE PASSAGE: TRANSITION ACTIVITY - SING A SONG Sing and perform the hand motions to the Arky, Arky song. If you are not familiar with the tune or the actions, check them out online. Invite toddlers to wave their hands as you sing Rise and shine and give God the glory, glory! SAY: GOD MADE EVERYTHING. God is good. God kept Noah safe from the flood. Later God sent Jesus because He loves us. WORK ANIMAL PUZZLES Provide puzzles with animals or scenes from the Bible story for toddlers to assemble. Toddlers may work puzzles under a table or in a pop-tent to play out Noah s family and the animals inside the ark. SAY: GOD MADE EVERYTHING. God kept Noah and some animals safe in the ark because God is good. MATCH COLORS Scribble with colorful crayons on two sets of index cards. Turn the index cards faceup and invite toddlers to match the colors. SAY: GOD MADE EVERYTHING. God made everything. He put a rainbow in the sky to show He would never flood the earth again. Laminate the card to use in each session. Use as directed in the leader guide.

6 Make a Rain Stick WHAT YOU NEED: - long clear water bottle - wooden toothpicks - long wooden skewers - colorful seed beads - funnel - hot glue and glue gun or colorful duct tape INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Remove label from the water bottle. 2. Drop toothpicks into the bottle. Use the skewers to break up the toothpicks and keep them from stacking vertically at the bottom. Fill the bottle three-fourths full. 3. Use a funnel to fill one-third of the bottle with colorful seed beads. Gently shake the beads so they collect at the bottom of the bottle. 4. Seal the lid to the bottle with hot glue or duct tape. If you use hot glue, make sure it cools before babies handle the bottle.
