2 What is Chabad... Chabad and its philosophy was influenced by the teachings of the Baal Shem Tov, a great leader of 18th-century Eastern Europe and the founder of the Chassidic movement. He loved the Jewish people with an immeasurable passion, irrelevant to their personal level of observance.. The Baal Shem Tov taught us to look deeper, beyond the knowledge of a person, beyond his outward behavior, into the depths of his heart, to find there the divine spark and reveal it with unconditional love. The approach of Chabad today mirrors that of the Baal Shem Tov, Look past the outward person and trust in the soul that lies deep inside each one of us.. His outlook on life may be different to yours, but there is much more you have in common than you are aware of. You enjoy Shabbat--enjoy it with him. You find solace and counsel in the wisdom of Torah--talk to your holy brothers and sisters about that wisdom in their own language, on their own terms. And if he or she does not change one iota, that is irrelevant. You have done your job of love. Two Jews became one and that is all that matters. A Chabad House, then, is a center established to facilitate all of the above. A Chabad House will generally host classes, lectures, and workshops on Jewish topics; religious services; Shabbat meals; and special events as needed in that community. Counseling services, the Friendship Circle for special needs children, and other volunteer services are common. When you leave a typical Chabad class, you don t go away with just knowledge, you go away with a whole new way of knowing, a new pair of eyes. That s one of the main reasons for Chabad s popularity Chabad teachers are able to provide meaningful answers to critical questions, because Chabad is all about how you use your mind. The Baal Shem Tov taught, G-d wants the heart. Chabad teaches that you can reach the heart through the mind through questioning, through meditation and deep contemplation, and through reframing your concept of the world. For this reason, the haftorah read on that day contains many prophecies which refer to the era of the redemption. Among the best-known of these: The wolf will dwell with the lamb; the leopard will lie down with a young goat ; He will raise a banner for the nations and gather in the exiles of Israel. About two hundred and fifty years ago, as the time for Moshiach drew closer, the Baal Shem Tov instituted a custom which underlines the connection between the redemption and the eighth day of Pesach: on that day he would partake of Moshiach s Seudah, the festive meal of Moshiach which is intended to deepen our awareness of Moshiach and enable us to integrate it into our thinking process. 18 Guest Lectures Pesach Hollywood Screenwriter David Weiss Wednesday, January 7, 7:30 pm Emmy Award nominee, David N. Weiss, has written for some of Hollywood s most endearing family films, from Academy Award nominated features, Shrek 2 & Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius to the Rugrats Movies, The Smurfs (with a record-breaking 7 weeks at #1, world-wide) and Smurfs 2. David s combined box office revenues now exceeds $2.3 billion worldwide -- if only he got a percentage, his parents might forgive him for not being a doctor. Mr. Weiss served as a head writer on the Rugrats TV Series and penned the acclaimed perennial Rugrats Chanukah. Weiss's hilarious and inspiring tale centers on his wacky journey from secular Jew to dynamic Christian youth leader to Modern Orthodox/blockbusting screenwriter. Says Weiss, "When you find yourself under a Chupah in a Presbyterian Church being married by a Jews for Jesus Rabbi, you know something has to give." Location: Chabad Central Admission: $10, $18 at door Sponsor $180 Munich 1972 Dan Alon Tuesday, March 17, 7:30 pm Dan Alon (born 28 March 1945) is a former Israeli fencer. He was placed fourth in round one with three wins and two losses and advanced to round two, where he placed fifth with two wins and three losses, and was eliminated. He was among six Israeli team members that avoided being captured by terrorists in the Munich massacre. He and four teammates were in apartment 2 of the building at Connollystrasse 31, and while the terrorists captured the Israeli residents in nearby apartments 1 and 3, they passed by this apartment, presumably led to believe by one of the kidnapped Israelis that this apartment was not occupied by Israelis. All five residents of apartment 2 managed to leave the building through the garden and flee to safety. In 2012, Alon released a book entitled Munich Memoir, co-authored by Carla Stockton, recounting his experiences at the 1972 Munich Olympics, and the impact on his life. Like many children of survivors, the sons feel that Poland is a country that is incurably anti-semitic, but it is precisely here that they meet people who personify the highest levels of compassion. 28 Torah Tots Pre School Pesach Torah Tots Pre School Community. Caring. Respect. Philosophy Play is not the opposite of "work" - both are part of everyone's life. For young children, there is no division between "play" and "work"; they are learning through everything they do. At Torah Tots, our classrooms are set up as an environment of learning. The centers that make up the design on the rooms change according to the current unit, so that the children are learning as they play. This also provides them the opportunity to explore the various centers as it arouses their curiosity, promoting independence and important self-help skills. In Misheli, 22:6, it is written: "Educate a children according to his way, so even when he grows old he shall not depart from it." We believe that children have different styles of learning and we prepare educational experiences to cater to these various learning styles. This enables each and every child to be a part of the current theme by participating in his/ her own way. Our Approach Our comprehensive and developmentally appropriate program is designed to promote each child's intellectual, social, physical and emotional growth. All games and activities are skillbased and goal oriented, so that the children are growing with everything that they do. Turning two- Pre K. 5 Days a week. 31 Mikvah Mikvah Mikvah Mei Menachem Leonard Kaleky Mikvah In Memory of Errol Shuster There is nothing more holy in this world, nothing more precious to its Creator, than the union of a man and a woman. It is, after all, the fountain of life. What could be more precious than life other than the source from which life comes? And it is holy because the first, pristine creation of a human being was as male and female as a single whole. That is the way we exist in G d s mind. And so, none of us can achieve wholeness until we regain that original oneness in both body and soul. Precious things are kept in sealed boxes. Roses hide behind the thorns. There are clothes you wear to work or play, but there are also treasures in your wardrobe so beautiful, of such value, that they come out only at special times, under specific conditions. The union of a man and a woman is so precious that if it is treated casually, without conditions or boundaries, it becomes ugly and even destructive. Which all goes to explain why in the Jewish way of life there is a cycle of union and separation between husband and wife. And why the most important institution of Jewish life, next to the home, is the mikvah that stands at the vortex of that cycle. Because precious things only stay beautiful when you follow the manufacturer's instructions.consistently, couples report their relationships rejuvenated when they start living by the rules of separation and mikvah. Perhaps that's why mikvah parking lots have become so crowded in the past few decades as more and more young couples make it a part of their lives -- some who have no other formal Jewish observance. A Spa for the Soul, today's mikvah looks more like a fashionable spa than a ritualarium. Luxurious bath and powder rooms, complete with commode, bathtub and vanity have become the standard. Fresh towels, disposable slippers, a comfortable robe, soap, shampoo, nail clippers and all the other essentials necessary are usually provided. By appointment only.for appointments please call To learn more about mikvah visit ChabadofBocaRaton.com/Mikvah Chabad Judaica At Chabad we offer you all your Judaic needs, books of Jewish interest, Jewish ritual and gift items.
