2 10.30 a. m. Joseph and Potiphar s Wife, interactive workshop You are familiar with the biblical Joseph, but did you know that Joseph has a parallel life in the Quran and Islamic tradition? In the interactive workshop, we will research the similarities and differences of the stories, which can be found in different cultures a. m. A Letter from the Cairo Genizah, interactive workshop There is an old Jewish tradition that any document containing God s name or quotes from religious texts should be preserved until it is buried in the ground. The Genizah is a place to hold, to store these documents, to conceal them and hide them away. In the interactive workshop, we will explore the cultural and historical values of objects that are seemingly ordinary and unattractive, and what can they reveal us about their owners, about the time and space in which they have been created and used. 5 p. m. The Demons in the Basement, interactive workshop The story about the demons in the basement comes from a book called Kav HaYashar by Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch Kaidanover, a leader of the Frankfurt Jewish community in the 17 th and 18 th century. Kav HaYashar is a popular volume of Jewish ethics, while the story of the demons will serve us as a starting point for the debate about how there are two sides to every story. The villain in a story may not be as bad as you once believed. LJUBLJANA Jewish Cultural Center, Križevniška 3 10 a. m. 1 p. m. and 6 p. m. 8 p. m.
