11 The Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville has announced the dates of the 2017 Westchester Jewish Film Festival. The festival will run from Thursday, March 16 through Sunday April 2, Complete programming, including films, speakers, special events, and dates and times of screenings will be available in early January. 12 ***************************************** Jan 2017 Exhibitions On View Pierre Chareau: Modern Architecture and Design Through March 26, 2017 "A delightful, virtual-reality-enhanced examination of the designer s work" The New York Times The Jewish Museum presents the first U.S. exhibition focused on French designer and architect Pierre Chareau. Showcasing rare furniture, lighting fixtures, and interiors, as well as designs for the extraordinary Maison de Verre, the glass house completed in Paris in 1932, the exhibition brings together over 180 rarely-seen works from major public and private collections in Europe and the United States.

John Singer Sargent s Mrs. Carl Meyer and Her Children Through February 5, 2017 John Singer Sargent s magisterial painting, Mrs. Carl Meyer and her Children of 1896, depicts Adèle Meyer with her children Elsie Charlotte and Frank Cecil. This work of art is one of Sargent s most beloved portraits. Masterpieces & Curiosities: Memphis Does Hanukkah Through February 12, 2017 This edition of the Masterpieces & Curiosities series focuses on Peter Shire s Menorah #7 and presents an opportunity to draw a visual connection between the Los Angeles native s history to the history and resonance of Memphis design. The Television Project: You Don t Have to Be Jewish Through February 12, 2017 The third installment of The Television Project series, You Don t Have to Be Jewish, explores advertising produced for Jewish audiences or with Jewish content, and examines the way religion, ethnicity, and identity play out on American television.

Included is a visit to the incredible Mt. Etna, the largest active volcano in Europe, as well as Agrigento with remains of an important city of the ancient Greek world.
