3 Islamic Awareness Week 2013 Breaking barriers at centres of learning Exhibition Islam at universities in 2013 WELCOME We are delighted to share with you Exhibition Islam s accomplishments over the past year. Despite the extraordinary economic and political conditions that pervade our world today, we have continued to welcome, reach out and connect with visitors as we looked at the world through the lens of Islamic culture. Over the course of the year we delivered 60 exhibitions around the country, and embarked on numerous publication projects around the globe. Our new media partnerships also generated great interest, with our team working alongside various broadcasters over the course of the year. The Exhibition itself is fantastic, with a wide range of artefacts and items that one would expect to see at a museum! 4 Since its foundation, Exhibition Islam has been committed to collecting, preserving and presenting Islamic art and history; allowing the general public, access to it at absolutely zero cost. Exhibitions Exhibition Islam in Burton on Trent In February 2013, Exhibition Islam was showcased at the Brewhouse Theatre in Burton on Trent. The 3 day exhibition was visited by over 2000 visitors and was supported by the Midlands Muslim Community, Burton and South Derbyshire College and East Staffordshire Borough Council. The response from the communities within East Staffordshire has been excellent. The exhibition has enabled residents and schools to gain an insight into the Islamic religion and the life of a Muslim through an engaging and interactive exhibition. 5 Corporate Exhibitions Kings College Hospital, London In 2013, Exhibition Islam was invited to display at a number of corporate venues in the United Kingdom. Exhibition Islam s experience and professional work ethic now enjoys the confidence and trust of corporate partners across the country. In August 2013, Exhibition Islam was showcased at the Kings College Hospital in London. The one-day exhibition was attended by over 500 visitors, with doctors, nurses, hospital staff and patients enjoying the event. Ernst and Young LLP, London, August The exhibition was held at one of the oldest and busiest hospitals in the London area. National Grid offices in Hinckley, April 2013 Clifford Chance in Canary Wharf, London, November 2013 Exhibition resources are highly factual The exhibition received the full support of the administration and all the faith groups Exhibition Islam acted as a key partner in hosting a successful EY Eid Celebration As the focal point, the exhibition was warmly received and praised in creating an engaging atmosphere filled with detailed knowledge and was presented in a friendly and interactive fashion for Muslims and non Muslim alike. Attendees commented on the high quality of the exhibition stands, combined with the interactive displays and beautiful life size photographs such as the Mecca pop out and hand written Quranic verses. I personally would like to extend congratulations and thanks to Umar (Ansari) and the EI team for there professionalism and guidance in helping put together EY s marquee Muslim event. We all did a wonderful job by organising the King s Eid Event and inviting the whole hospital. I want to express my immense gratitude to you and your colleague for making the event successful. Exhibition Islam was one of the highlights of the event and your team have been very instrumental during the organising and managing of the event. I really applaud that. It was a pleasure to see so many hospital colleagues and some patients turning up in the boardroom and we re truly delighted to share our joy of Eid. 8 Media New ideas from the designers Right: Exhibition Islam team on a live phone-in event in October Viewer feedback was extremely positive. In 2013, Exhibition Islam entered into partnership with a private TV station. This partnership involved the production of live interactive shows and documentary film making. 9 New partnerships Brightening up centres Exhibition Islam established a number of working and strategic partnerships in These included partnerships with TV channels, Radio stations and both private and public organisations.
