1 J, TURNER MOORE MEMORIAL LIBRARY Manalapan, Florida Library Winter Hours: 9 a.m. 12 noon MANALAPAN Library Enewsletter Volume 1 Issue 5 November, librarian@manalapan.org LIBRARY HAPPENINGS To honor and thank donors to our highly successful Library Refurbishment Fund held this summer, former mayor Tom Gerrard offered a smashing cocktail party at the library November 19th. See page 3 5 for photos taken at the party. And to celebrate the generous wall space now available for art exhibits, Bev Myers, Manalapan s highly accomplished artist, kindly lent us an extensive exhibit of her beautiful paintings. She also donated several plants for both inside and outside the library. Super-photographer Michael Gottlieb lent a small selection of wildlife photos prelude to a much larger exhibit planned for the latter part of the season. He also took all photos used in this newsletter, bless his soul. Bev s exhibit will continue until the end of January, when it will be followed by one from Camille Rosano, a very talented non-resident and member of the library. Camille plans to hold an Opening Exhibit party on Friday, February 4th and will invite all Manalapan residents to attend. Drinks and hors d oeuvres will be served. Guaranteed, you will like her work! BOOK CLUB NOTICE: December 15th Meeting is cancelled. Let The Great World Spin by Colum MaCann will be discussed at the January 20th meeting. NOTE RE E-NEWSLETTERS We plan to do most of our communicating via . If you are not receiving our s please be sure that Town Hall has your address. And if you want to receive them but do not have an address ask Town Hall to automatically send you a printed copy by mail. We don't want you to inadvertently be left out of anything! Turner Moore Memorial Library will be held Thursday, 6 p.m. December 2, 2010 with an UNTRADITIONAL Twist We invite guests who would like to participate in a more personal way to bring some refreshments (homemade or otherwise) to accompany drinks we will be serving. It would be helpful if you could advise us beforehand if you plan to bring something. (Call Mary Ann ). Everyone will appreciate your thoughtfulness and it will make the party truly neighborly. LECTURE SERIES See page 2.. PLEASE TELL US WHAT YOU THINK... Here are ideas we are considering for the season, but need some feedback before further planning. Mary Ann at librarian@manalapan.org or phone her at home with your thoughts. 1. A bi-monthly movie at the library with refreshments and conversation afterwards, What day of the week would be best Thursday or Friday? 2. As a little fund raiser....for $25 admission, a Preview Book Sale Party the evening before our book sale (date not yet determined), with drinks and hors d oeuvres and first chance at choosing books, 3. If you really enjoy our December 2nd Open House, we could have one or two more during the season, with guests supplying food, we supply drink, and maybe some of you with musical or other talents even supply some entertainment! 4. Yoga classes at the library with DVD or live instruction. 5. See ad on page 2 for conversation and hobbies!

Jan. 13 at 6 pm Claudine Laabs, well-known nature photographer will take us "Up the Upper Amazon" in an illustrated program with emphasis on geography and wildlife in the Peruvian Amazon, which has some of the greatest diversity of animal and plant life on the planet. She has been called an artist with a camera. Her work has been published nationally and internationally. Thurs. Feb. 10 at 6 p.m.-yelena Harbick, Director of Russian Fine & Decorative Arts in New York for British international auction house BONHAMS, will discuss Surprises and Discoveries in the Russian Art Market. She formerly worked for Christie s New York as a Senior Specialist of Russian Paintings. Thurs. March 3 at 6 p.m. Dr. Christos Papatheodorou Manalapan s favorite resident lecturer will discuss The Evolving Health Delivery Systems Total Quality Management and Information Technologies, the Critical Elements April - Clay Henderson, Senior Counsel, Holland & Knight, practices in the public policy section in the areas of environmental law, land use, and Smart Growth. He represents public agencies, large private landowners, and conservation organizations. He has extensive experience in conservation land acquisition and planning and has negotiated the acquisition of over 250,000 acres of land, now part of national and state parks and preserves. Topic will be A Sense of Place. Date to be announced soon.
