4 Special Community Event Ambassador At Large: An Evening with Rabbi David Saperstein Rabbi David Saperstein American rabbi, lawyer, Jewish community leader and former United States Ambassador. October 18, :30 p.m. Join us for a very special evening at Larchmont Temple with the most recent United States Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom, Rabbi David Saperstein. He will offer a global perspective, from the United States to Israel, Europe, the Middle East and Asia, including the effects of anti-semitism and the efforts of moderate Islam to confront extremism. As the former Director of the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, he will also offer his views on today's social justice agenda. This event is free and open to the public. 7 AIPAC and Westchester Reform Temple invite you to join in an exciting conversation with Ambassador Dan Shapiro, moderated by Rabbi Jonathan Blake. This event will take place on Tuesday, November 7 th at 8pm at Westchester Reform Temple, 255 Mamaroneck Rd Scarsdale, NY. Ambassador Shapiro and Rabbi Blake will discuss the Ambassador's firsthand experience as one of the key players in the US-Israel relationship, as well as the current challenges and opportunities facing our two nations. 9 START THE NEW YEAR OFF WITH SOMETHING REALLY MEANINGFUL BJCC VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES HIGHLIGHTS Volunteer once or twice a month as a friendly visitor - help make the day of an isolated senior. Set aside 1-2 days a month to volunteer to distribute food in the BJCC Pantry on Wednesdays or Thursdays from 10-2 or No heavy lifting...just bring your smile and be ready to greet clients and help them select foods from the pantry shelves...your help will make a big difference. Help set up and serve lunch from 10-1 on Thanksgiving Day to seniors at Pelham Parkway Houses. This annual tradition is always a lot of fun and brings smiles to the seniors faces. Mark your calendars for Project HOPE on December 3, 2017 and March 18, 2018 from 9-11:30. Help deliver packages to home bound and isolated seniors--kick off your holiday season with these huge acts of Chessed and social justice. Help us celebrate at the 14th Annual Dreydl Ball on December 6, 2017 at the Conservative Synagogue in Riverdale. Help set up and serve 75 mobile seniors celebrate with this festive holiday tradition. 10 How you can help Kids' Kloset: Join us! Check out the volunteer hours below and come in to sort and pack children's clothing. Donate gently used clothing and shoes you or your children are no longer using. All Fall/Winter items accepted. Share this with friends that might have time to volunteer or have items to donate. Start a clothing drive at your place of work, community group or other group. Make a financial donation to WJCS Kids' Kloset to help us continue operating and also purchase new underwear, diapers and socks.
