3 عن عبد هللا بن ع مر بن اخلطاب احلديث األول: قال: قال رسول هللا صل ى هللا عليه وسلم: ب ي ن اإلسالم على مخس : شهادة أن ال إله إال هللا وأن حمم د ا رسول هللا وإقام الص الة وإيتاء الز كاة واحل يج وصوم رمضان )متفق عليه( Hadith One: Ibn Umar reported that the Messenger of Allah said, Islam is based on five (pillars): testimony that there is no God but Allah and that Muhammad is His messenger ( ), establishing salah, paying zakat, hajj, and fasting in Ramadan. (Bukhari and Muslim) احلديث الثاين: عن أيب هريرة رضي هللا تعاىل عنه أن رس ول هللا صلى هللا عليه وسل م قال: الص لوات اخلمس واجلمعة إىل اجل م عة ورمضان إىل رمضان - ي م كف رات ما بينهن إذا اجت نب ت الكبائر )م سلم( Hadith Two: Abu Hurairah reported that the Messenger of Allah said, The five daily prayers, one Jum ua to the next, and fasting from one Ramadan to the next are expiation for all the sins committed in between them for as long as the major sins are avoided. (Muslim)

4 احلديث الثالث: عن أيب هريرة عبدالر محن بن صخر رضي هللا تعاىل عنه قال: قال رس ول هللا صلى هللا عليه وسل م: إذا دخل شه ر رمضان فتيح ت أبواب الس ماء وغ ي لق ت أبواب جهن م وس لسل ت الش ياطي )متفق عليه( Hadith Three: Abu Hurairah reported that the Messenger of Allah said, When the month of Ramadan begins, the gates of the Heavens are opened, the gates of hell are closed, and the devils are chained. (Bukhari and Muslim) احلديث الرابع : عن أيب هريرة رضي هللا تعاىل عنه قال: قال رس ول هللا صلى هللا عليه وسل م: من صام رمضان إميا ن واحتسا ب غ فر له ما تقد م من ذنبه )متفق عليه( Hadith Four: Abu Hurairah reported that the Messenger of Allah said, Whoever fasts the month of Ramadan with faith and seeking reward, all of his previous sins shall be forgiven. (Bukhari and Muslim)

5 احلديث اخلامس : عن أيب هريرة رضي هللا تعاىل عنه قال: قال رسول هللا صلى هللا عليه وسل م: قال هللا: ك ل عمل ابن آدم له إال ال يصيام فإن ه يل وأ ن أجزي به وال يصيام ج ن ة وإذاكان يوم صوم أحدكم فال يرف ث وال يصخب فإن ساب ه أحد أو قاتله فليق ل إيين امر ؤ صائم والذي نفس حم مد بيده خل ل وف فم الصائم أطيب عند هللا من ريح املسك للصائم فرحتان يفرح هما: إذا أفطر فرح وإذا لقي رب ه فرح بصومه )متفق عليه( Hadith Five: Abu Hurairah reported that the Messenger of Allah narrated in a hadith qudusi (divine hadith) that Allah said, All the deeds of the sons of Adam are theirs but for fasting which is for me; I, Myself, will grant the reward for it. The Messenger of Allah further said, Fasting is a shield from the fire and from committing of sins. If one of you is fasting, he should avoid sexual relations with his wife and quarreling. If someone argues with him, he should say, I am fasting. By the One in whose hands is my soul, the unpleasant odor that emits from the mouth of a fasting person is better to Allah than the smell of musk. There are two joys for the fasting person: one, when he breaks his fast and second, when he meets his Lord. (Bukhari and Muslim)

6 احلديث السادس: عن سهل بن سعد الس اعدي رضي هللا تعاىل عنه عن النيب صلى هللا عليه وسل م قال: إن يف اجلن ة ب ب ي قال له: الر ي ن يدخل منه الصائمون يوم القيامة ال يدخل منه أحد غريهم ي قال: أين الصائم ون فيقومون ال يدخل منه أحد غريهم فإذا دخل وا أ غل ي ق فلم يدخ ل منه أحد )متفق عليه( Hadith Six: Sahl bin Sa d reported that the Messenger of Allah said, There is a gate in Paradise called al-rayyan and none except those who observe fasts will enter through it on the Day of Resurrection. It will be said, Where are those who regularly observed fasts? They will rise and none except them will enter through it. After they enter, the gate will be closed and no one will enter through it again. (Bukhari and Muslim) احلديث السابع: عن أيب هريرة رضي هللا تعاىل عنه عن النيب صلى هللا عليه وسل م قال: ال يتقد من أحد كم رمضان بصوم يو م أو يومي إال أن يكون رج ل كان يص وم صومه فليص م ذلك اليوم )متفق عليه( Hadith Seven: Abu Hurairah reports that the Messenger of Allah said, None of you should fast a day or two before Ramadan unless he is in the habit of fasting (i.e. nafl [optional fasting]). In such a case, (i.e. when his nafl fast coincides with those days) he may fast. (Bukhari and Muslim)

7 احلديث الثامن: عن أيب هريرة رضي هللا تعاىل عنه قال: قال النيب صلى هللا عليه وسل م أو قال: قال أبو القاسم صلى هللا عليه وسل م ص وموا لر ؤيته وأفطروا لر ؤيته فإن غ ييب عليكم فأكمل وا عد ة شعبان ثالثي )متفق عليه( Hadith Eight: Abu Hurairah reports that the Messenger of Allah said, Begin and terminate the fast upon sighting of the crescent. However, if the sky is overcast (hiding the crescent from sight), then complete the month of Sha ban, thirty days. (Bukhari and Muslim) احلديث التاسع: عن كريب أن أم الفضل بنت احلارث رضي هللا تعاىل عنها بعث ته إىل م عاوية رضي هللا تعاىل عنه بلش ام قال: "فق ي دمت الش ام فقضيت حاجتها واست هل علي رمضان وأ ن بلش ام فرأيت اهلالل ليلة اجلمعة مث ق ي دمت املدينة يف آخر الش هر فسأل ن عبد هللا بن عباس رضي هللا عنهما مث ذكر اهلالل فقال مىت رأيت م اهلالل فقلت : رأيناه ليلة اجلمعة فقال: أنت رأيت ه فقل ت نعم ورآه الن اس وصام وا وصام م عاوية فقال لكن ا رأيناه ليلة الس بت فال نزا ل نص وم حىت ن كمل ثالثي أو نراه فقلت : أو ال تكتفي بر ؤية م عاوية وصيا ي مه فقال: ال هكذا أمر ن رسول هللا صلى هللا عليه وسل م وشك حيىي بن حيىي يف: نكتفي أو تكتفي )مسلم( Hadith Nine: Kuraib reported that Umm Fadl once sent him [on an errand] to Mu awiya in Syria. He reports, I arrived in Syria and carried out the errand. Ramadan started at the same time [I was there] and I saw the new moon (of Ramadan) on Friday. I then returned to Madina at the end of the month. Abdullah bin Abbas asked me when we sighted the moon for Ramadan. I replied that we sighted it on Friday night. He further inquired if I had sighted it myself. I replied in the affirmative. I informed him that (most of) the people there also saw it and that all the people [of Syria] and Mu awiya started their fast [based on that sighting]. He replied, But as we sighted it on Saturday night, we will continue fasting until we complete thirty (fasts) or we see it (i.e. the new moon of Shawwal).

8 I asked, Does the sighting of the moon by Mu'awiya replied. No. This is what the Messenger of Allah (Muslim) not suffice for you? He commanded us to do. احلديث العاشر: عن ابن ع مر رضي هللا تعاىل عنهما عن النيب صلى هللا عليه وسل م أن ه قال: إ ن أم ة أ ي مية ال نكت ب وال حنس ب الشهر هكذا وهكذا يع ن: مر ة تسعة وعشرين ومر ة ثالثي متفق عليه. Hadith Ten: Ibn Umar reports that the Messenger of Allah said, We are an unlettered nation; we neither write nor do we calculate months. The month is like this and this [i.e. sometimes 29 days and sometimes 30] (Bukhari and Muslim)

9 احلديث احلادي عشر: عن أيب ب كرة ن فيع بن احلارث الثقفي رضي هللا تعاىل عنه عن النيب صلى هللا عليه وسل م قال ش هرا عيد رمضان وذ و احلج ة )متفق عليه( شهران ال ينق صان Hadith Eleven: Abu Bakra reports that the Messenger of Allah said, The two months of Eid, Ramadan and Dhul-Hijjah, do not decrease (in reward). (Bukhari and Muslim) احلديث الثاين عشر: عن أنس بن مالك رضي هللا تعاىل عنه قال: قال الن يب تسح ر وا فإن يف الس ح ور بركة )متفق عليه( Hadith Twelve: Anas bin Malik reports that the Messenger of Allah said, Eat suhur (predawn meal), as there are blessings in suhur. (Bukhari and Muslim)

10 احلديث الثالث عشر: عن عمر بن العاص رضي هللا تعاىل عنه أن رس ول هللا صلى هللا عليه وسل م قال الكتاب أ ك لة الس ح ر )مسلم( فصل ما بي صيامنا وصيام أهل Hadith Thirteen: Amr bin al- As reports that the Messenger of Allah said, The difference between our fast and the fast of the People of the Book is suhur. (Muslim) احلديث الرابع عشر: عن أنس رضي هللا تعاىل عنه أ ن زيد بن اثب ت حد ثه أ ن م تسح روا مع النيب صلى هللا عليه وسل م مث قام وا إىل الص الة قلت :كم بينهما قال: قدر مخسي أو ستيي يع ن: آية )متفق عليه( Hadith Fourteen: Anas reports that Zaid bin Thabit informed him that the Sahaba would take suhur with the Messenger and pray salat shortly thereafter. I asked him, How much time between the two (i.e. suhur and salat)? He replied, Approximately the amount of time it takes to recite 50 or 60 ayahs. (Bukhari and Muslim)

11 احلديث اخلامس عشر: عن عائشة رضي هللا تعاىل عنها أن بالال رضي هللا تعاىل عنه كان ي ؤ ي ذن بليل فقال رسول هللا صلى هللا عليه وسل م: كل وا واشربوا حىت ي ؤ ي ذن اب ن أم مكت وم فإن ه ال ي ؤ ي ذن حىت يطل ع الفج ر )متفق عليه( Hadith Fifteen: Ayesha reports that Bilal performed adhan at night to which the Messenger of Allah said, Continue eating and drinking until Ibn Umm Maktum calls the adhan for he does not call until dawn. (Bukhari and Muslim) احلديث السادس عشر: عن عدي بن حامت رضي هللا تعاىل عنه قال: ملا نزل ت: ح ىت ي ت ب ي ل ك م اخل ي ط األ ب ي ض ي من اخل ي ي ط األ س و ي د عمدت إىل عقال أسود وإىل عقال أبيض فجعلت هما حتت وساديت فجعلت أنظ ر يف الل يل فال يستبي يل فغدو ت على رسول هللا صلى هللا عليه وسل م فذكرت له ذلك فقال: إ ن ا ذلك سواد الل يل وبياض الن هار )متفق عليه( Hadith Sixteen: Adi bin Hatim reports, When the following ayah, you may eat and drink until the white thread appears to you distinct from the black thread (2:187), was revealed, I took two pieces of thread, one black and the other white, and kept them under my pillow. I continued observing them [closely] throughout the night but could not make anything out of it. The next morning I came to the Messenger of Allah and narrated the whole story to him. He explained to me that the ayah was referring to the darkness of the night and the whiteness of the dawn. (Bukhari and Muslim)

12 احلديث السابع عشر: عن عبدهللا بن أيب أ و ىف رضي هللا تعاىل عنهما قال: كن ا مع رس ول هللا يف سفر فقال لرج ل :انزل فاجدح يل الش مس قال: انزل فاجدح يل قال: ي رس ول هللا الش مس قال: انزل فاجدح يل فنزل فجدح قال: ي رس ول هللا له فشرب مث رمى بيده هاهنا مث قال: إذا رأيت م الل يل أقب ل من هاهنا فقد أفطر الصائ م )متفق عليه( Hadith Seventeen: Abdullah bin Abi Awfa reports, We were in the company of the Messenger of Allah on a journey. He said to a man, Dismount and stir sawiq (mashed barley) [with water or the like] for me. The man said, The sun (i.e. it is still visible), O Messenger of Allah! The Messenger of Allah repeated, Dismount and stir sawiq for me. The man again said, O Messenger of Allah! The sun! The Messenger of Allah said for the third time, Dismount and stir sawiq for me. The man then finally dismounted and prepared [a drink of] sawiq [with water] for him. The Messenger of Allah drank it, gestured with his hand (toward the east) and said, When you see the night appear from this direction, the fasting person should break his fast. (Bukhari and Muslim) عن سهل بن سعد رضي هللا تعاىل عنه أن احلديث الثامن عشر: رسول هللا قال: ال يزال الن اس خبري ما عج ل وا ال ي فطر )متفق عليه( Hadith Eighteen: Sahl bin Sa d reports that the Messenger of Allah said, People will continue to be in good as long as they hasten to break their fasts. (Bukhari and Muslim)

13 عن أيب هريرة رضي هللا تعاىل عنه قال: ن ى رسو ل هللا إن ك ت واصل ي رسول هللا قال: وأي كم مثلي احلديث التاسع عشر: عن الوصال يف الص وم فقال له رجل من امل سلمي: إيين أبيت ي طعم ن رييب ويسقي ن فلم ا أ بوا أن ينتهوا عن الوصال واصل هبم يوم ا مث يوم ا مث رأ وا اهلالل فقال:لو أتخ ر لزدت كم كالت نكيل هلم حي أب وا أن ينتهوا )متفق عليه( Hadith Nineteen: Abu Hurairah reports that the Messenger of Allah forbade the continual fast (i.e. fasting without suhur or iftar). One of the believers said, But O Messenger of Allah! You practice the continual fast. The Messenger replied, Who amongst you is like me? I pass the night in the state that my Lord provides for food and drink. But when people refused to cease the continual fast, the Messenger fasted with them one day and then another, and then they sighted the moon (of Shawwal). The Messenger said to them, If the crescent had not appeared, I would have made you fast for a longer period. He did so to reprimand them for their insistence upon the continual fast. (Bukhari and Muslim)

14 احلديث العشرون: عن أيب هريرة رضي هللا عنه قال: قال رسول هللا صلى هللا عليه وسل م: من مل يد ع قول الز ور والعمل به فليس هلل حاجة يف أن يد ع طعام ه وشرابه )خباري( Hadith Twenty: Abu Hurairah reports that the Messenger of Allah said, If one does not abstain from lies and immoral conduct, Allah has no need for him to abstain from his food and drink. (Bukhari) احلديث احلادي والعشرون: عن أيب هريرة رضي هللا عنه عن النيب صلى هللا عليه وسل م قال: من ن سي وهو صائم فأكل وشرب فلي تم صومه فإ ن ا أطعمه هللا وسقاه )متفق عليه( Hadith Twenty-One: Abu Hurairah reports that the Messenger of Allah said, If someone eats or drinks out of forgetfulness, they should complete their fast because it is Allah who fed them and quenched their thirst. (Bukhari and Muslim)

15 احلديث الثاين والعشرون: عن جابر بن عبد هللا رضي هللا عنهما قال:كان رسو ل هللا صلى هللا عليه وسل م يف سفر فرأى زحام ا ورج ال قد ظ ل ي ل عليه فقال: ما هذا فقال وا: صائ م فقال: ليس من ال يب الص وم يف الس فر )متفق عليه( Hadith Twenty-Two: Jabir reports that once the Messenger of Allah was on a journey when he saw a crowd of people and a man who was being shaded. He asked, What is the matter? The people replied, He is fasting. The Messenger of Allah said, It is not an act of piety for you to fast while out on a journey. (Bukhari and Muslim) عن عبد هللا احلديث الثالث والعشرون: بن عباس رضي هللا عنهما أن رسول هللا صلى هللا عليه وسل م خرج إىل مك ة يف رمضان فصام ح ىت بلغ الكديد أ ف طر فأفطر الن اس )متفق عليه( Hadith Twenty-Three: Abdullah bin Abbas reports that the Messenger of Allah travelled to Makkah in Ramadan and fasted until he reached Kudaid. There, he broke the fast and then people too broke the fast. (Bukhari and Muslim)

16 احلديث الرابع والعشرون: عن أيب سعيد اخلدري رضي هللا عنه قال: غز و ن مع رسول هللا صلى هللا عليه وسل م لست عشرة مض ت من رمضان فمن ا من صام ومن ا من أ فطر فلم ي يعب الصائم على امل فطر وال امل فطر على الصائم )مسلم ) Hadith Twenty-Four: Abu Sa eed al-khudri reports, We went out on an expedition with the Messenger of Allah on the 16 th of Ramadan. Some fasted while others did not. The fasters did not find fault in those who did not nor did the non-fasters find fault in those who did. (Muslim) احلديث اخلامس والعشرون: عن عائشة رضي هللا تعاىل عنها قالت:كان النيب صلى هللا عليه وسل م ي قبيل وي با ي شر وهو صائم وكان أم ل ك كم يإلربه )متفق عليه( وعند مسلم عنها قالت:كان رسول هللا صلى هللا عليه وسل م ي قبيل يف رمضان وهو صائم Hadith Twenty-Five: Ayesha reports, The Messenger of Allah would kiss and embrace (his wives) while fasting, and he possessed the greatest self-restraint of all of you. In the narration of Muslim: the Messenger of Allah would kiss his wives while fasting in Ramadan. (Bukhari and Muslim)

17 احلديث السادس والعشرون: عن عائشة وأيم سلمة زوج ي النيب صلى هللا عليه وسل م: أن رسول هللا صلى هللا عليه وسلمكان ي دركه الفج ر وهو ج ن ب ي من أهله مث يغتسل ويص وم )متفق عليه( Hadith Twenty-Six: Ayesha and Umm Salama report that the Messenger of Allah would sometimes wake up at Fajr time in a state of major impurity [from relations with his wife]. In such situations, he would bathe and fast. (Bukhari and Muslim) احلديث السابع والعشرون: عن أيب هريرة رضي هللا عنه قال: جاء رج ل إىل النيب صلى هللا عليه وسل م فقال: هلكت ي رسول هللا قال: وما أهلكك قال: وقعت على امرأيت يف رمضان قال: هل جتد ما تعتق رقبة قال: ال قال: فهل تستطيع أن تص وم شهرين م تتابعي قال: ال قال: فهل جتد ما ت طعم ستيي مسكين ا قال: ال قال: مث جلس فأ يت النيب صلى هللا عليه وسل م بعرق فيه متر فقال: تصد ق هبذا قال: أفق ر من ا فما بي البت يها أهل بيت أحوج إليه من ا فضحك الن يب صلى هللا عليه وسل م حىت بدت أنياب ه مث قال: اذهب فأط ي عمه أهل ك )متفق عليه( Hadith Twenty-Seven: Abu Hurairah reports that a man came to the Messenger of Allah and said, O Messenger of Allah! I am ruined! The Messenger of Allah asked, Why are you ruined? The man replied, I had intercourse with my wife in Ramadan. The Messenger of Allah asked, Do you own a slave whom you can set free? The man replied that he could not. The Messenger of Allah then asked, Can you fast for two consecutive months? The man replied that he could not. The Messenger of Allah then asked, Can you provide food to sixty poor people? Again, the man replied that he could not. The man sat down. In the meantime, a basket of dates was sent [as a gift] to the Messenger of Allah. The Messenger of Allah ordered the man to give the dates in charity. The man said, To someone poorer than myself? There is no

18 family poorer than mine between the two mountains of Madina. The Messenger of Allah smiled until his molar teeth showed. He said, Go and give it to your family. (Bukhari and Muslim) احلديث الثامن والعشرون: عن ابن عب اس رضي هللا عنهما: أن النيب صلى هللا عليه وسل م احتج م وهو حم يرم واحتجم وهو صائ م )خباري( Hadith Twenty-Eight: Ibn Abbas reports that the Messenger of Allah had cupping done [on himself] in the state of ihram and fasting. (Bukhari)

19 احلديث التاسع والعشرون: عن عائشة رضي هللا تعاىل عنها قالت:كان يكون علي الص وم من رمضان فما أستطيع أن أقضي إال يف شعبان )متفق عليه( ق ال حي ىي الش غ ل ي من الن ييبي أ و ي بلن ييبي صلى هللا عليه وسلم Hadith Twenty-Nine: Ayesha reports, There were fasts I needed to make up from Ramadan but which I could not make up until Sha ban. Yahya (one of the narrators) says that the reason (for the delay in making up her fasts) was that she would be busy serving the Messenger. (Bukhari and Muslim) احلديث الثالثون: عن ابن عب اس رضي هللا عنهما قال:كان رسول هللا صلى هللا عليه وسل م أجود الن اس وكان أجود ما يكون يف رمضان حي يلقاه جبيل وكان يلقاه يفك يل ليلة من رمضان في دارس ه الق رآن فل رسول هللا صلى هللا عليه وسلم أجود بخلري من ال يريح امل رسل ة )متفق عليه( Hadith Thirty: Ibn Abbas reports that the Messenger of Allah was the most generous of people, and he was the most generous in Ramadan when Jibril visited him every night and rehearsed Qur'an with him. The Prophet of Allah would give out of wealth (khayr) more than a continuously blowing wind. (Bukhari and Muslim)

20 احلديث احلادي والثالثون: عن ابن عب اس رضي هللا عنهما قال: قال رسول هللا صلى هللا عليه وسل م المرأة من األنصار: ما منع ك أن حت يجي معنا قالت:كان لنا نضح فركبه أبو فالن وابن ه - لزوجها وابنها - وترك نضح ا ننضح عليه قال: فإذا كان رمضان اعتم يري فيه فإن ع مرة يف رمضان حج ة أو حنو ا مم ا قال )متفق عليه( Hadith Thirty-One: Ibn Abbas reports that the Messenger of Allah once asked a woman from the Ansar, What prevented you from performing Hajj with us? She replied, We have a camel and the father of so-and-so and his son (i.e. her husband and her son) rode it and left one camel in our care for irrigation. The Messenger of Allah said (to her), Perform Umra in Ramadan for Umra in Ramadan is equal to the Hajj (in reward). (Bukhari and Muslim) احلديث الثاين والثالثون: عن أيب هريرة رضي هللا عنه أن رسول هللا صلى هللا عليه وسل م قال: من قام رمضان إميا ن واحتسا ب غ ي فر له ما تقد م من ذنبه )متفق عليه( Hadith Thirty-Two: Abu Hurairah reported that the Messenger of Allah said, Whoever prays in Ramadan with faith and seeking reward, all of his previous sins shall be forgiven. (Bukhari and Muslim)

21 احلديث الثالث والثالثون: عن أيب سلمة بن عبدالر محن أن ه سأل عائشة رضي هللا عنهاكيفكانت صالة رسول هللا صلى هللا عليه وسل م يف رمضان فقالت: ماكان رسول هللا صلى هللا عليه وسل م يزيد يف رمضان وال يف غريه على إحدى عشرة ركعة ي صل ي ي أربع ا فال تس ل عن ح سنه ن وط وهلن مث ي صل ي ي أربع ا فال تسل عن ح سنهن وط وهلن مث ي صل ي ي ثالاث قالت عائشة : فقلت : ي رسول هللا أتنام قبل أن ت وتر فقال: ي عائشة إن عي ن تنامان وال ينام قليب )متفق عليه( Hadith Thirty-Three: Abu Salama reports that he asked Ayesha about how the Messenger of Allah prayed in Ramadan. Ayesha replied, He did not pray more than eleven rak a in or outside of Ramadan. He prayed four rak a; [ah], do not ask of the length and beauty of this salat! And then he prayed another four rak a; [ah], do not ask of the length and beauty of this salat! Then he offered three rak a (witr). I asked the Messenger of Allah, O Messenger of Allah! Do you come to bed before offering the witr? He replied, My eyes sleep but my heart does not. (Bukhari and Muslim) عن عائشة رضي هللا عنها قالت: كان النيب احلديث الرابع والثالثون: إذا دخل العشر شد ي مئ زر ه وأحيا ليل ه وأيقظ أهل ه )متفق عليه( Ayesha of Allah Hadith Thirty-Four: reports that when the last ten days of Ramadan began, the Messenger tightened his waist belt (i.e. he strived harder in devotions), revived his night and also awoke his family. (Bukhari and Muslim)

However, the year he passed away he sat for i tikaf for twenty days. (Bukhari) احلديث السادس والثالثون: عن عائشة رضي هللا عنها قالت: كان رسول هللا صلى هللا عليه وسل م ي اور يف العشر األواخر من رمضان ويق ول : حتر وا ليلة القدر يف العشر األواخر من رمضان )متفق عليه( Hadith Thirty-Six: Ayesha reports that the Messenger of Allah sat in i tikaf for the last ten days of Ramadan and would say, Search for Laylat al-qadr (Night of Power) in the last ten nights of Ramadan.
