Staff Primary School: VC Receives Macmillan Trophy, Gives N10,000 to each Participant Sheikh Abubakar Jibril In his sermon last Sunday 1 st Shawwal, 1433AH (19 th August, 2012), shortly after the Eid el-fitr prayer to mark the end of this year s Ramadhan at the Old Campus Central Mosque, Sheikh Jibril charged Muslims to continue doing all the good deeds they cultivated during the holy month. Students from the school competed in Mathematics, English and General Knowledge among the 89 other Special Primary Schools in Kano State. The Vice Chancellor expressed delight over the students brilliant performance and for being good ambassadors of the University. He gave each participant the sum of N10, The participants were: 1- Maimuna Mika il Team B 2- Adamu Suleiman Team B 3- Zainab Auwal Mohammed Team A 4- Hassana Abubakar Team A The competition took place on Saturday 14 th July, 2012 at the Murtala Muhammad Library Complex. 29 Students Get Total Scholarship Twenty nine students of Bayero University, Kano have successfully passed a selection test conducted by the oil and gas giant, Total, and emerged as winners of its 2011/2012 prestigious scholarship. The selection test was conducted on 26 th November, 2011 and the students, who were drawn from the faculties of Medicine, Social and Management Science, Science, Law and Technology, will enjoy the scholarship based on their performance. A letter signed by the Registrar, Alhaji Sani Ibrahim Amin, indicated that the re-appointment took effect from 5 th May, Prof. Dandago Hands over Consultancy Services Unit to Prof. Yakasai The former Chairman of the Bayero University Consultancy Services Unit, Professor Kabiru Isa Dandago, has formally handed over the affairs of the unit to the new Chairman, Professor Muhammad Ibrahim Yakasai, of the Faculty of Education. Speaking during the handing over ceremony recently, Professor Dandago described the new chairman as a seasoned educationist and a high profile University don whose intelligence and professional astuteness have been of immense blessing to the University.

4 4 Prof. Dandago advised the new chairman to act as an agent of positive change and put in his best in order to uplift the standard of the unit to the next level. He enjoined staff of the unit to give the new chairman maximum support and cooperation as they did during his tenure. Responding, the new chairman, Professor Muhammad Yakasai, promised to do his best for the overall growth and development of the unit in particular, and the University, in general. Staff Model Primary School Primary 1 New Intake for 2012/2013 The Management of Staff Model Primary School informs the University community and the general public that it has rescheduled the date for the conduct of primary one new intake/interview, which was earlier scheduled to hold on 18 th August, The new date is as follows: Date: Saturday, 25 th August, 2012 for both staff and non-staff children. Time: 9:00am prompt. Venue: Old Campus, Staff Model Primary School. Parents should come along with the original copies of their children s birth certificates to the venue.
