1 Sulaiman bin Nasir Al-Alwan Introduction [voice of another man]: This is a speech given by Sheikh Sulaiman bin Nasir Al-Alwan in a public gathering. He called for jihad and for fighting the crusaders. He called for supporting the Muslims in Palestine, Afghanistan and Chechnya. He concluded his speech by praising the leader Thamir Suwailam, known as Abu Khattab. Al-Alwan: Islamic religion cannot be fulfilled in the hearts and lives of Muslims unless they carry out Jihad in all its forms. The evil of the wrongdoers cannot be stopped without a terrifying force and a jihad that would break their strength. If it wasn t for Jihad, the world would have been corrupt and mosques would have been destroyed. The struggle between good and bad is an ongoing tradition. The people of falsehood have always outnumbered the people of truth, and it is not possible to defeat them in any way other than Jihad. A lot of people don t yield to the truth unless they are forced to. Jihad will continue till doomsday. It is the route to the dignity and prosperity of the nation (Ummah). No matter how many obstacles the enemies of Islam put in Jihad s way, and how much they harm its people and label them as extremists, Jihad will always continue as long as there is day and night. It is either victory or martyrdom. Prophet Muhammad said A group of my nation will continue to fight, prevailing over their enemies, until the last one of them fights the false Messiah. Prophet Muhammad also said This religion will survive and a group of Muslims will fight for it until doomsday. Prophet Muhammad said a group of Muslims will continue fighting for the sake of Allah, prevailing over their enemies and unharmed by them until doomsday comes. Jihad was one of the signs of the strength of our predecessors. This is the route for the Islamic nation to regain its status, dignity and prestige. Any education without the spirit of Jihad and without making the link between the present and the past of this nation is a weak education, no matter what the intentions and the eforts of its people are. When Muslims at the present time ignored the reasons for dignity, God humiliated them and gave control to their enemies.

2 We will gain victory and dignity when we give our souls to our religion and look for the causes of the glory of our predecessors and follow it. Nowadays, we see the vigilance of the nation and resistance against the infidels. The banners of jihad in Afghanistan, Palestine, Philippines, Chechnya and other places have risen. The nation has started to realize the goals of Jihad and distance itself from the nationalist and ethnic banners, and also from defending the dictatorships and secular regimes. We are waiting for the soon to come victory of Allah, so the present of this nation will be connected to its past. The word of Allah will be the higher and the word of the infidels will be the lower, anyone ready for Jihad? Any call to fight the infidels? One of the biggest disappointments is to see the Muslims fighting the Russians and the Americans and you are not taking part or giving money although you can fight and you are needed. God almighty has said O you who believe! Shall I guide you to a trade ( situation) that will save you from a painful penalty. That you believe in Allah and his messenger ( The Prophet), and that you strive very hard ( to your best) in the cause of Allah with your property and persons: That will be best of you if you only know! ( if you do that), he will forgive you ( for) your sins, and admit you to gardens beneath which rivers flow, and to beautiful Palaces in the And (Eden or Paradise) of eternity : That is indeed the highest achievement Sura Al-Saf In Baraa Sura, Allah offered heaven as a prize for the lives and money of the believers. Verily, Allah bought from the believers their persons and their goods for (the price) that for them (as a return) shall be the garden (of paradise): They fight in his cause, so they kill and are killed: A promise binding him in truth; it is in the Taur at [the Torah of Musa (Moses)], the Injeel [Gospel of Isa ( Jesus)], and the Qur an ( revealed to the prophet Muhammad). And who is truer to his promise than Allah? Then feel happy in the bargain that you have ended: That is the greatest success. At-Tauba 111 Allah condemned those who fail to join jihad and help their brothers and defend their honor. Allah said O you who believe! What is the matter with you, that, when you are asked to go out in the cause of Allah, you stay on (tied) tightly to the earth? Do you prefer the life of this world to Hereafter? But the comfort of this life is very small compared with (with the comfort) of the Hereafter. Tawba Allah said Let those people fight in the cause of Allah, (those) who sell the life of this world for the Hereafter. To him who fights in the cause of Allah- Whether he is slain or gets victory- Soon We shall give him a reward that is Great. And what is wrong with you (believers) not to fight in the cause of Allah, those (believers) who are weak, the ill-treated (and

3 oppressed)? Men, women, and children,, the cry is : Our Lord! Rescue us from this town, whose people are oppressors; And from you give us a guardian who will protect; And from You give us one who will help! An- Nisa This is an order by God to carry out Jihad, raise his word and salvage the believers; men and women from the hands of the infidels. The clerics have unanimously said that it is a must to fight the infidels when they attack the land of Muslims. If the people of the occupied land succeeded in deterring their harm, then that is sufficient. If the people of the occupied land were unable to stop the aggression, then the people from the neighboring are obliged to help their brothers and stop the aggression of the infidels. This obligation persists until the enemy is expelled out of the land of Muslims. The permission of the ruler in such battles is not required, especially if the ruler has betrayed his religion and stopped Jihad and the rule of Allah. Clerics agree that the greatest task for the rulers is to implement the sharia of Allah and fight the infidels and the proselytes and defend Islam and Muslims all over the world. If they don t do that, what else would they do then? The nation needs true clerics who question the rulers and deny their wrongdoings. The nation also needs sincere men who exert all the effort in fighting the infidels and deter their aggression and seek martyrdom as much as the infidels seek life. Anyone who is killed in this Jihad while he is attacking and not running away is a martyr. The prophet said a person who is killed for the sake of Allah is a martyr. A person who dies for the sake of Allah is a martyr. A person who dies by the plague is a martyr and the baby who dies in his mother s womb is a martyr. Verified teachings of Prophet Muhammad tell us that jihad is the best of work, and the people who carry it out are the best of people. The Prophet was asked one time what is equal to Jihad in the cause of Allah?. He replied you can t afford it. They repeated the question twice and in the third time he said The fighter in the cause of Allah is like a person who spends his days fasting, praying and reading Qur an continuously until the Mujahid returns from jihad. Prophet Mihammad was asked one day who is the best of people? He replied a believer who carries out Jihad with his person and his money. They asked who else?

4 He replied A believer who stays in a mountain, fearing Allah and not harming people. Prophet Muhammad sais I swear by Allah,who owns my soul, I wish I could be killed and brought back to life and then killed again and brought back to life and then killed again. Prophet Muhammad also said Every person who dies and has some good doings with Allah, does not wish to go back to life and have all what it has except for the martyr because of all the merits of martyrdom. He wishes, for that, to go back to life and get killed again. Prophet Sulaiman wished to have a lot of sons, so they can become fighters in the cause of Allah. This was mentioned in the two true books [the most trusted books by Sunnis of the sayings of Prophet Muhammad]. Jihad is two kinds; first, is the seeking jihad which means going after the infidels and invade them in their land even if they commit any aggression, so they will all convert to Islam or slavishly give tribute. This is what the scripture, teachings of the prophet and the sayings of the clerics tell us. The only thing that stops us from doing so is the damage expected due to that or the weakness or incapability of doing so. You should check this with the people of belief and knowledge and not those who paid small price for the verses of Qur an and not with the defeated people or those who spread rumors and confusion. The main goal for this Jihad is to raise the word of Allah, and to triumph is religion and humiliate the infidelity and its people. The other kind of jihad is to ward off the enemy from the land of Muslims. This is unanimously considered as an obligation. No one says otherwise except an ignorant or a hypocrite. It is an obligation in Palestine, Chechnya, Afghanistan and Philippines and many other countries. The countries of infidelity, America and its allies have conspired to fight Islam and Muslims, kill their leaders, spread corruption among them and impose embargo on some of their countries. The American president, Bush, has said in a press conference that this is a crusade. This crusader coalition calls for a major confrontation, huge efforts and a general mobilization. No one is excused from standing up to it. Everyone should do what he can and according to his ability. Someone would fight where he is needed, another will do it with his money or his words. Prophet Muhammad said fight the infidels with your money, souls and words. The least that can be done in this crusade is to pray for the Muslim party of Allah, and his servants, the mujahedeen. You should look for the best time for your prayers to be accepted; like the last third of the

5 night, when prostrating and between the call for the prayer and the beginning of it. Also, during silence in the five prayers, you should ask Allah for victory for the weak believers against the Jewish occupiers and the Christian aggressors. Abu Huraira [ one of the well-known followers of Muhammad who quoted a lot of the prophet s sayings. Trusted by Sunnis not Shiite] said that he prayed the way Prophet Muhammad did and he prayed for the believers and curse the infidels in the last bow in the morning, noon and evening prayers. There is no need for permission from the ruler for silence during prayers in the mosques, because there is no evidence on that. If the ruler bans this, then he should not be obeyed because obedience should be for good, and this is not good at all. The nation is plagued with rulers who stop the rule of Allah and ban jihad and stop people from silence in their five prayers. There are also clerics, who justify such shameful stances of not supporting Islam and Muslims, under the pretext of obedience to the rulers. This is irrelevant because the clerics have agreed that obedience should not be for evil. The duty of the clerics is to stand up to falsehood. They should spread the spirit of jihad in the nation and lead it in raising this banner. They are [ the clerics] the heirs of the prophets, keepers of Sharia and the most knowledgeable of jihad, its rules and what kind of prize Allah has prepared for the mujahedeen. This is the time for sacrifices and support to Muslims and fights against the infidels and crusaders. This is the route that will lead you to martyrdom, the satisfaction of Allah and his heaven. Prophet Muhamad said one day who wants to go to a heaven that is as wide as the earth and the skies?, Umair bin Al-Husain [ one of his followers] said as wide as the earth and the skies? Oh No! Prophet Muhammad said why do you say that? Umair replied I just said that hoping I can go there, so Prophet Muhammad replied you are one of them. Umair took few dates and started to eat and then he said I am taking so much time eating the dates, what a long life, he threw the dates and fought the enemy until he was killed. Prophet Muhammad said the best lives of people is the life of someone who holds the leash of his horse in the cause of Allah. He flies whenever he hears a call seeking to kill or be killed. Another one is the life of a man atop a mountain or in a valley, praying, giving zakat and worshiping until he dies. There are a lot of people like that, looking for slavery to Allah, and for martyrdom, while others were seeking life and its joys. [ He reads a poem] Let us travel on the way of our dignity

6 Our great well is our food We have been promised a great victory But if we die, then we will be with Allah Let us die and get martyrdom Death in the route of guidance is birth Don t be surprised, the lives of the mujahedeen is filled with surprises The motto of the people was: I swear by God, I won When Haram bin Milhan [ one of the prophet s followers] was stabbed in the battle of Ber maoona and saw the blood he stained his face and head with blood and said I swear by God, I won. In another story, Amir Bin Fuhaira said the same thing and his killer converted to Islam immediately. When Khubaib bin Ali was captured and was about to be killed he recited: I don t care how I die if I m killed as a Muslim This is up to God to bless my body if it is torn apart There are a lot of interesting stories about heroes; mothers will not cease to give birth to men similar to those heroes. The names of prominent jihadis names race through my memory; the leader Abdullah Azzam, Jameel Al-Rahman, Anwar Shaaban, and Yehya Ayash, God bless their souls. There is also the leader, Thamir Suwailam, known as Khattab, who was poisoned and killed about a month ago. He was only 33. He joined the Afghan mujahedeen when he was only 18 years old. He fought in battles until he led the armies in Chechnya. He inflected a lot of casualties to the enemy and he was worried that he might not die in the land of jihad and God gave him what he wanted. The death of this courageous leader, or any other leader, will not weaken the will of the mujahedeen. If a courageous hero like Khattab dies, there are other heroes who are faithful to this religion, in the nation. This nation is a giver; it gives birth to scholars, courageous fighters and faithful leaders. [ he reads poetry] If a sayed dies, another sayed rises He will do what the good people do

7 Religion is what builds men and plants courage in them and makes them loyal to their principles. We ask Allah to support his religion, raise his word, dignify his followers and humiliate his enemies. O Allah, the land, sea and sky are yours. O Allah, destroy the forces that the Jewish Usurping and the Christian aggressors have in the sky. Destroy the forces that they have on the ground, and sink the forces that they have in the sea. Thank God almighty
