Connect Church If you are visiting with us for the first time, WELCOME! We are glad it was your choice to worship Christ with us today. We hope this time of praise and the study of God s Word will be an encouragement for you. Please join us between services for refreshments and fellowship. Church Family, A huge sincere thank you for the wonderful expression of appreciation you demonstrated during the worship services last week. As your Pastors, we are privileged to serve Christ with you, and we were honored by your kindness toward us. Thank you for the gifts! Richest Blessings, Pastor Dale Lead Pastor I love this church because back in 2000 my husband and I were looking for a church to attend in this area. After visiting several different churches, we came upon First Baptist Church of Royal Palm Beach. They were holding services in the High School. We both knew immediately that this was the church for us. Everyone was so friendly and welcomed us with open arms. I love it here and love all my brothers and sisters in Christ. I serve Jesus with you by volunteering weekly preparing the Worship Folders and doing other things that are needed by the office staff. I am on the hospitality committee and previously served as a greeter.
Worship I will praise God s name in song and glorify Him with thanksgiving. Psalm 69:30 It is time to begin gathering the Thanksgiving meal supplies; turkey, stuffing, and pumpkin pie. As you prepare your shopping list, you may want to add this traditional Thanksgiving CD, We Gather Together, featuring beautifully arranged hymns by Craig Duncan and Friends. The music is presented on Hammered Dulcimer, Fiddle, Mandolin, Guitar, Autoharp, Penny Whistles, and even Accordion. This is a nice piece to add to your collection of tunes to be played while the busy work takes place in the kitchen. 4 Make plans now to attend this conference which will both inspire and challenge us as parents, grandparents, or simply Church Life concerned adults who desire to influence children and youth for God. What will the next generation look like? That all depends upon how much we will invest in their future. Picture yourself receiving ten one-dollar bills from God. Remember, God is the owner and you re just a steward, not an owner. As you look at the bills in your hand, you say, God, You re handing me ten of Your dollars. What do You want me to do with them? Are You going to want them back? God says, I just want one of them back. Puzzled, you reply, Just one? Are you sure? Yep, Just give me one, He says. Well, what do You want me to do with the other nine? you inquire. Whatever you want, He replies. You mean You re giving me ten dollars, and You want only one back - and I get to keep the other nine for me? you exclaim in disbelief. You get the idea. Can you imagine hiring a money manager to steward your 401k and telling him he can keep 90 percent of it? That s basically what God does with you. If you think about it, all God asks for His investment is a tenth of the principle. It s almost laughable. And to think we struggle to give Him any of it. From Fields of Gold Boxes Due Today! TODAY
Church Life Local Mission Outreach Opportunities: Connect Church and PBSO Community Food Bags Want to put your faith into practice? There are two dates where your help is greatly needed (this is also a good opportunity for 9th 12th graders to get community service hours): Friday, November 17th Your help is needed to sort and organize all the food collected by the Palm Beach Sheriff s Office and several area schools (last year there were over 18,000 items to sort). The sorting will begin at 9:30 AM and continue until all the food has been organized. Sunday, November 19th The sorted food is used to create bags that PBSO will deliver to area families in time for Thanksgiving. We will meet at 2:00 PM and continue until all the bags have been packed. Join us over at the PBSO facility for both of these activities, the David B. Farber Training Center, 1050B located at Royal Palm Beach Blvd. and Okeechobee Blvd. (southeast side of Okeechobee, across from the Publix shopping center). Have you ever wondered just what to say to a person in need of Christ? Do you know how to discern when the Spirit is leading you to share about God? Today, at 11:00 AM an Outreach Training session is scheduled on each campus. Come learn how to share your faith more effectively.

God s Word - Time With God Today s SOAP - Pastor Josh Sharpe Scripture: Leviticus 9:15-24; 10:1-3 Observation: God has always had men to lead and guide His people and in these passages we see Aaron sacrificing to God on behalf of his fellow Israelites. He is working tirelessly in grotesque conditions for the good of God s people. His primary objective is to honor them by leading the people in the process of getting right with God. Application: Today I am especially grateful to be one of those men called by God to lead the people. This last weekend our church family showed their appreciation of the work that pastors do and it was very heartwarming. Though days are sometimes long and conditions sometime messy I count it an honor and blessing to be a pastor at Connect Church. There is no where else in the world me and my family would rather be! How Do I SOAP? Prayer: Father, I thank you for calling me to pastor your people at Connect Church. I thank you for this privilege to serve and, like Aaron, ask for your blessing over the people. Amen. Scripture - Read the passage of Scripture for the day and allow God to speak to you. Write down a verse which spoke to you. Observation - Write your observation as to what is happening in the text. What do you believe is the point of the passage? Application - Write down how the Scripture passage applies to your life today. Prayer - Ask God to help you use this Scripture for greater insight on what He may be revealing to you. Remember, prayer is a two-way conversation, so be sure to listen to what God has to say! Now, write it out. S.O.A.P. Scripture Observation Application Prayer Grab your Bible, a pen, and a notebook. Get ready to hear from God through His Word! This Week s SOAP Set Free M Leviticus 16:3-4 T Leviticus 16:5-6 W Leviticus 16:7-9 TH Leviticus 16:10 F Leviticus 16:29 S Leviticus 16:30 Main Passage for November 19th Leviticus 16:3-10, CSB Memory Verse: Leviticus 16:30 Atonement will be made for you on this day to cleanse you, and you will be clean from all you sins before the LORD.
Set Apart Scripture 15 Aaron presented the people s offering. He took the male goat for the people s sin offering, slaughtered it, and made a sin offering with it as he did before. 16 He presented the burnt offering and sacrificed it according to the regulation. 17 Next he presented the grain offering, took a handful of it, and burned it on the altar in addition to the morning burnt offering. 18 Finally, he slaughtered the ox and the ram as the people s fellowship sacrifice. Aaron s sons brought him the blood, and he splattered it on all sides of the altar. 19 They also brought the fat portions from the ox and the ram the fat tail, the fat surrounding the entrails, the kidneys, and the fatty lobe of the liver 20 and placed these on the breasts. Aaron burned the fat portions on the altar, 21 but he presented the breasts and the right thigh as a presentation offering before the Lord, as Moses had commanded. 22 Aaron lifted up his hands toward the people and blessed them. He came down after sacrificing the sin offering, the burnt offering, and the fellowship offering. 23 Moses and Aaron then entered the tent of meeting. When they came out, they blessed the people, and the glory of the Lord appeared to all the people. 24 Fire came from the Lord and consumed the burnt offering and the fat portions on the altar. And when all the people saw it, they shouted and fell facedown. 1 Aaron s sons Nadab and Abihu each took his own firepan, put fire in it, placed incense on it, and presented unauthorized fire before the Lord, which he had not commanded them to do. 2 Then fire came from the Lord and consumed them, and they died before the Lord. 3 Moses said to Aaron, This is what the Lord has spoken: I will demonstrate my holiness to those who are near me, and I will reveal my glory before all the people. And Aaron remained silent. Leviticus 9:15-24; 10:1-3 CSB Main Point God s people are to live as a set-apart priesthood. *Notes adapted from Explore the Bible, LifeWay Christian Resources. All Scripture passages from the Christian Standard Bible.
Notes Next Steps Unauthorized fire represents an inappropriate approach to worship and life which may be present in any of our lives. Prayerfully consider your approach to God through His Son Jesus Christ and the guidance of Scripture and make any necessary adjustments. 10 God s Word - Devoted to Him All or Nothing Any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple. Luke 14: 33 In the latter part of Luke 14, we find Jesus surrounded by a large crowd. But unlike what you or I might have been tempted to do, He never played to the audience. He wasn t concerned about His ratings. He wasn t running for office or trying to attract the biggest crowd in town. He knew full well that when some heard His message, they would lose interest in His movement. But that didn t keep Him from being straightforward. Jesus looked at the crowd of would-be disciples and said, in effect, If you want to follow Me, you need to understand what s involved. He didn t speak in sweeping generalities; rather, He identified specific issues that must be surrendered by those who call themselves His followers things like our relationships, our physical bodies, our rights, our possessions. Yes, and even [your] own life, Jesus said, because whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple (verses 26 27). It s one thing to have an emotional experience at a Christian gathering where you re inspired and challenged to yield control of everything to God. It s another matter to live out that surrender once the emotion of the moment has passed when the bus gets home from the conference, when you lose your job and the bills keep coming, when you find out you re expecting your fifth child in seven years, when your mate is diagnosed with a terminal illness. The extent of your discipleship will be determined in the laboratory of life, through daily, (moment-bymoment) choices and responses that reveal how surrendered you really are to following Christ." A Consistent Message Did you know that the Bible was written by approximately 40 authors, in 3 different languages, over a period of about 2,000 years? It is hard enough for 1 author writing in 1 language to write something which makes good sense. (Writing ain t easy!) But 40 authors? 3 languages? 2,000 years? That sounds like the makings of a gigantic train wreck of a book! But we don t find a train wreck in the Bible. On the contrary, from Genesis to Revelation the Bible communicates one consistent message. It is the message of God redeeming a broken humanity through Jesus! Clearly, the Bible was not written by just humans. God s hand must have guided the writing process, bringing all the diverse authors into unity with one another to record this amazing story of God inviting sinful people (like me and you) into His family! 15 Preschool Ministry The memory verse for this week is from Daniel 1:17 God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom. Hi Kids, This Sunday we learned how Daniel and his friends obeyed God. The king gave food to Daniel and his friends to eat, but they asked to eat only the vegetables. Tell your parents who the king took to Babylon. Share with them about the special food Daniel ate. Does God honor those who honor Him? Which is better to please your friends or to please God? Hi Mom & Dad, All classes will work on their Thanksgiving lesson this week. For your Cubbie, check out Special Day 1 in their handbook for the lesson. Preschool Reminder: We will not meet for Awana on Happy Thanksgiving! For a fun Thanksgiving craft idea for your toddler/preschooler, check out this website: Easy, fun and inexpensive! Sneak a peek at our little crew in action: This week is Turkey Potato Night! We are excited to see the clubbers creations this year! All supplies are provided Kids and parents are welcome to stay for the fun. Clubbers will have a brief opportunity to say verses during Awana, but if they are prepared with verses they are welcome to come at 6:30 to recite their verses prior to Opening Ceremony. Our Awana Pumpkin Patch was filled with shoeboxes for OCC. Thanks to all the families that participated.
