Listen to Him (Mark 9: 2-10) On this Feast Day we are invited to consider whether the truth it reveals is being embraced and experienced in our own daily lives. The path up that mountain proceeds through prayer and encounter. On that Mountain, Jesus revealed before mortal eyes the Transcendent Truth of who He is - and who Peter, James and John - and each one of us - will become in Him. They were invited to exercise their freedom and embrace the path that He had prepared. This is an extraordinary Feast of hope which can help us to live differently, right now. We are invited, by reflecting on this significant event in the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, to focus us on the end of the Christian life. The Transfiguration helps to explain the very meaning and purpose of life!

Penitential Rite On the Second Sunday of Lent, the Church celebrates the Penitential Rite for the R.C.I.A. Candidates (those already baptized) who are preparing to receive both the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist and to be received into Full Communion in the Catholic Church. This ritual serves as a Lenten Purification for the Candidates through the Church s prayer for strengthening in grace, virtue and purification from all past evil and from any bonds which hinder them from experiencing the love of God. This Rite is part of their preparation for receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation and full sacramental reception into the Church at the Easter Vigil celebration. St. Rose of Lima Retreat for Men will be held at Mater Dolorosa Retreat Center on the weekend of March 16-18, Join your fellow parishioners for this weekend of spiritual enrichment and growth. PATRICK S DAY DINNER The Knights of Columbus will be hosting their annual St. Patrick's Day Dinner at St. Rose of Lima Hall on Sunday March 18 th, 5:30-7:00 PM. Sláinte ie Good Health to You Knights of Columbus Council 5803 Scholarship The Knights of Columbus Council 5803, are pleased to offer five $ scholarships this year. One each scholarship will be placed at Alemany High School and LaReina High School and three at the Youth Ministry office of St. Rose of Lima Parish. These scholarships are available to high school graduating seniors who are members of St. Rose of Lima Parish in Simi Valley for at least the last year and are planning on furthering their formal education. The scholarship recipient will be selected, in part, by the following criteria: academics, involvement in community services, school activities and parish activities. Applications may be picked up at St. Rose of Lima Parish Rectory, Youth Ministry Office or from your respective high school College Councilor.
