2 Greetings from the East, Worshipful Sirs and Brethren, Welcome to December, the Holiday Season! This being my final Trestleboard as Master, I would like to start off with a great round of thanks to all the Brothers and Sisters of our beloved Lodge. This has been the most exciting, trying and, rewarding year of my life. All of the support I received from all of YOU has made it so worth it in completing my journey to the East, the Oriental Chair. Thank you so much!!! To my Line of Officers, Officers Coach, the Past Masters, Committee Chairmen & members, thank you, and Well Done! to each of you for all of your hard work and support during this year. Likewise, so much has happened and without the ever presence of the dedicated Brothers and Sisters in this Lodge, I would not have been able to make it through. It is the camaraderie and family of our Fraternity that makes this journey challenging and enjoyable. Thanks to everyone who attended, donated, sacrificed and supported the Lodge during my term as Master of this Lodge. To the Past Masters and brethren of other Lodges, I salute you for being there when your presence was needed the most. Thanks to those of you who sponsored brethren and for your untiring support through the years. To all the Committee members, and the Kitchen Commandos, headed by Bros Amado Supnet, Rey Cruz, Charlie Ballestamon, Mike Lim and Ernie Bautista and to the sideliners, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I also would like to thank Worshipful Brother John H. Crago, III, our 925 th District Inspector for his support and confidence that he bestowed upon me as President of our District Officers Association. It is a demanding job and I truly appreciate all you have done for us. We have had an amazing year. I have had the honor and privilege of initiating, passing and raising to Master Masons, Men of good quality. We have accomplished all, our milestones for This makes Silver Gate Three Stars # 296 such an awesome Lodge. Thank you again for the honor of leading you for this year. I send my congratulations to all the elected and appointed officers for the ensuing Masonic Year. Let us all continue to support them and the lodge throughout As a final note, my heartfelt thanks to all who have helped make my Masonic Journey here at Silver Gate Three Stars # 296 as good as it has been. Since the first time I walked in the door of the lodge, I have been made to feel welcome and wanted. This is what has kept, and will keep me coming back. Our congratulations to the newly Elected Officers to serve for the ensuing Masonic year. Master-Elect: Bro Art Coloma Senior Warden: Bro Patrick Carreon Junior Warden: Bro Chez Torres Treasurer: WBro Carding Edra Secretary: WBro Mario Rante This brings us to this time of year, Christmas. We now celebrate Christmas and the birth of Christ who taught very specific lessons when dealing with your fellow man. These lessons are taught in other religions as well. The lessons Christ taught were of tolerance, justice, hope and kindness, to only name a few. These lessons are taught throughout Freemasonry. It is because of this that I believe Freemasonry truly embodies the idea of the Christmas season year round.

3 We all want to see your smiling faces in the Lodge this December during the stated meeting, the 2018 Officers and Past Master s Dinner, the North Park Holiday Parade, Lodge Christmas Party and the 2018 Installation of Officers. By the same token, it is my wish that we all continue to support the Lodge and the next cadre of Officers in their 2018 endeavors so they may keep our Lodge the best lodge and the shining star of all Lodges in this jurisdiction. Let s continue our support and God Bless! Sis Angie, who has always been in my presence providing me the support and encouragement all year round during my reign as Master of this lodge deserves to be recognized and commended for a Job-Well Done Thus, Sis Angie and I with joined hands wish you ALL a very happy and safe Christmas filled with joy, happiness and the best of health and a prosperous New Year!. Once again, THANK YOU ALL! With much respect, admiration and gratitude, By the square, Lito Oxina, MASTER 2017 SGTSL #296 From the West: Worshipful Sirs/Brethren, A Westerly Wind: Christmas season is just around the corner and we have a lot of things to be grateful for and surely to rejoice both the past and the future that our Supreme Grand Master of the Universe have amiably extended to all of us. We must also thank Him for his many blessings that we have the opportunity to contribute our bounties to those who are less fortunate and most susceptible members of our craft and to all the brothers who needed our assistance the most. We are also to commemorate the fact that this year, we were able to initiate, pass and raise brothers who will definitely be useful assets to Freemasonry. It is my sincere gratitude to personally express my admiration to our current and soon to be Past Master Worshipful Lito Oxina for his unselfish ritualism and good leadership for sharing his wealth of knowledge both with Masonry and of general order of things. Likewise, I also want to extend my sincere gratitude to Sis Angie for her kindness in giving out flowers and donating/making gifts to the raffle winners every stated meetings. Her generosity of her precious time in the lodge served as model for everyone, but most of all, her support to her husband as our Worshipful Master of the Lodge was very encouraging. Also, I would like to encourage everyone to come to the Lodge and see the many accomplishments and improvements the MHA has done. I want to remind and cheer everybody that on December 2, 2017, to energetically participate in the SGTS Family Christmas Celebration and bring your entire family and friends. Last but not least, I also would like to express my wholehearted thanks and appreciation to all the Brothers and Sisters who extended their helping hand in anyway on our installation. Words are not enough to express my genuine gratitude to Brothers and Sisters; Bro Amado Supnet, Bro Rey Cruz, WBro Maynard Ogot, WBro Mario Rante, Bro Charlie Ballestamon, Sis Norma Dano, Sis Nannette Dela Cruz and to all Brothers and Sisters who I have not mentioned here. Will see you On the Level, Bro Arthur R. Coloma Senior Warden SGTSL #296

4 From the South: Worshipful Sirs and brethren, It has been said many times that with time patience and perseverance, all endeavors will come to pass. Indeed, it is what is, and so it was. One year ago, a set of new officers of SGTS lodge no 296 set sail with new goals to accomplish for the benefit of this lodge and its beneficiaries. And needless to say, those goals were all accomplished and many more which undoubtedly brought honor, pride and joy to this lodge. With the leadership of WBro Lito Oxina at the helm, inspired by his loving wife Angie, he steered this lodge to new heights that all of us can cherish for quite some time. Of course, none of this would ve been possible without the strong support provided by his set of officers and past masters of this lodge who truly displayed their love and commitment. Many lodge members, myself included, have been recipient of unsolicited good mentoring from past masters, of which I am forever grateful. These brothers truly live the principle of whispering good counsel in a brothers ear and in a most friendly manner endeavor to bring about an improvement. One iconic past master is our beloved coach Wbro Jerry Fabula whose demeanor and personality, in my opinion, is the best brother to ever assume that position. Also, my endless gratitude goes to the three great pillars in the kitchen consisting of Bro Amado Supnet, Bro Rey Cruz, and Bro Charles Ballestemon. With the augmentation services of Bro Ernie Bautista, Bro Jun Aspiras and many more who are always willing to stretch forth a helping hand in providing nutritious meal for all the lodge members and their guests, this outgoing batch clearly displayed excellence and shining example for many lodges to emulate. I am confident that the incoming batch of officers will do just as well if not better, considering that the incoming set of officers is led by one of the officers responsible for the past years shining performance. To the new set of officers, I wish you all the blessing of our great architect of the universe and may your journey be as smooth as silk.. 6 Reintegrating Masons with Forgetfulness into Lodge life Homecoming Program Greetings Worshipful Sirs and Brethren, Thank you for joining us today. I would like to share a few highlights with you regarding how our lodge members involve themselves in the most worthy pursuit of identifying fellow brothers who may be suffering from memory or forgetfulness issues, and in beginning the process of reintegrating them into our lodge and fellowship activities. I would also like to share with you a bit about the process of implementing our Homecoming Program. The beginning step for us in reintegrating was to just enjoy our fellowship time with as many brothers around the lodge as we can during our various conferrals and gatherings and taking time to note during our conversations if there are any signs of memory issues or forgetfulness with our brethren present at lodge. These relaxed conversations also give us some practice for when it comes time to visit brothers in their own homes that may no longer come to lodge. We begin the process of identifying brothers with memory issues by way of referrals from other brothers at lodge, as well as, the efforts of our Lodge Masonic Outreach Committee members. Our committee members will acquire a list of brothers no longer attending lodge from the Secretaries office and attempt to call these brothers several times a year, identify themselves and just engage in friendly conversation. They have a telephone script that they can use as a guide giving them ideas as to what sort of questions to ask, but we find that it is best to have a free flowing conversation and try to fit in certain questions as the opportunity presents itself in order to avoid the appearance of questioning. Our goal is to get a feel for how our brothers and their families are doing and towards the end of the conversation to see if we might be welcome to stop in for a short visit sometime. During these conversations and visits we listen to what our brothers are saying and try to get an idea as to their quality of life and their state of mind. We are also trying to reestablish a connection with our brothers with the goal of inviting them back into the lodge for fellowship during a Stated Meeting dinner, as an example. Issues may come up such as transportation, walking to and from their transportation and the lodge, parking spots or the ability to stay for dinner and the Stated Meeting or just the dinner. During the dinner we encourage as many brethren as possible to sit down and visit with our returning brothers especially brothers that they may know or have known. We try to identify and solve issues and make it as easy and convenient as possible to come down, enjoy their visit and go home with the intention of coming back again. It is important to follow up their visit with a phone call to see if they enjoyed their visit, if they experienced any problems and if they would please come and visit again. If during this process we observe that a brother is experiencing memory issues we can make contact with Masonic Homes and request referrals to services that may be available to them within our local community. Our homecoming program starts with our Secretary identifying brothers who are no longer attending lodge and are beginning to become delinquent in their status. He provides a list of names to the sitting Master and the Master assigns several brothers to make calls and attempt to reestablish a connection and hopefully a desire to revisit the lodge. This process is very similar to the MOS calls in that we are engaging in conversation, listening to our brothers concerns, trying to solve problems, and letting them know that we miss them and would greatly enjoy their return to the lodge. My brothers I thank you for taking the time to allow me to share our processes with you and I encourage you to make similar efforts within your own lodges to identify brothers with memory issues, as well as, encouraging brothers no longer attending to revisit your lodges.
