Another year, another great leadership team. -An update from Pastor Ashley Once a month, this group of students (pictured above) gathers together. They're GCF's student leadership team.

I'm often struck in these meetings by these students' willingness to take on significant ministry responsibilities.

1 Another year, another great leadership team. -An update from Pastor Ashley Once a month, this group of students (pictured above) gathers together. They're GCF's student leadership team. Each student has a particular role, from coordinating small groups to liaising with the university to organizing our community's outreach and service efforts. Anna (center top) is president this year. I'm often struck in these meetings by these students' willingness to take on significant ministry responsibilities. In just a few weeks, these students will lead their peers in GCF's intentional efforts to enfold a new crop of grad students. They'll make sure new students enter small groups--groups with a whole other set of leaders trained to lead Bible studies for these young academics. The new students will be encouraged to participate in a community

2 service project packaging meals to help feed our hungry neighbors across Seattle. They'll be invited to eat together, pray together, and sign up for an intentional mentorship program that pairs seasoned students with new students. They'll get advice about how to live faithfully while in grad school. They'll get plugged into local churches with help from folks in our community who are already plugged into their respective churches. These student leaders help pull all of this off. This weekend they're leading a retreat, a retreat both Geoff and I are skipping because we're anticipating the arrival of our second son any day now, and I have zero desire to sleep in a tent. I'm struck by these leaders because there's so much capacity here to lead, both in this ministry and in the broader church. Based on their excitement and commitment and all the other things we're seeing come together, it's going to be another wonderful year of ministry. Thank you for your prayers, for walking with us, for helping to make possible this good work- a community of students that sincerely seeks to be a bold witness to Christ's enduring presence on campus and in the world. Meet this Year's Kuyper Fellows The following five students make up the first cohort of GCF's Kuyper Fellows program. Over this coming year, these students will dig deep into issues of calling and academic vocation. They will ask the big questions like: What is the purpose of the university? What does it mean to follow Jesus in the academy? How does my teaching and research further the Kingdom of God? These students will meet monthly to discuss readings around these and other questions. They'll each get paired with a Christian faculty mentor. And ultimately, they will each produce a talk, article or some other work in which they reflect on their learning and articulate how they see their work integrating with their faith. So stay tuned! Come spring, we will have some exciting original pieces to share from these fellows!

She'll be serving in the role of ministry coordinator this year. Laurel is taking on the heavy lifting of coordinating Thursday evening community meals, morning prayer, the Chapel on the Ave Beautification Project (a project that we'll let her share about on in the next update from GCF) and more. Along with taking on a significant role in this ministry, Laurel is entering into UW's non profit management program. We're so very thankful for her and all of her gifts. You can support Laurel's work through GCF here. There is a new way to give to GCF! Previously, since we were a ministry plant, our parent church, Bellevue CRC, has accepted donations on our behalf. BUT, as of this summer, GCF is it's own non profit, with our own board of directors and an ever growing vision for ministry at UW. We continue to be so very grateful for your support.
