Branding Guide by Eddie J. McCoven, Pacific Lutheran University Branding Guide for United Lutheran Church, Tacoma, WA Fonts The following fonts could help to keep brand uniformity. These fonts are recommended for use on all on all published external and internal documents. Internal Memos/Correspondence between staff and council could also make use of these fonts, but is not necessary. Elephant Century Gothic Times New Roman Congregation Name, Newsletter Name Tagline, Pertinent Info, Major Headings and Subheadings, ELCA name Body text, caption text, less pertinent info Colors The color pallete below is an example of what could be used for all publications, internal and external signage, and other applications. The colors could be adjusted slightly, but the Maroon and Purple colors will need to stay due to current branding and interior design. Black would be the Dark Accent color, which is already in use in the current logo. Primary Accent Alternate Maroon Purple Pink White Pentecost RGB: RGB: RGB: RGB: RGB: Hex: 6E0C00 Hex: Hex: FFD1D7 Hex: FFFFFF Hex: B0050A Logo, Headings, Subheadings, Headings Medium Accent Light Accent Natural Accent For special occasions
Branding Guide by Eddie J. McCoven, Pacific Lutheran University Logo Brand Marks Stacked The congregation has used the three crosses logo since its inception. The logo holds two significant meanings. One is a significant meaning to adherents of the greater Christian faith, recalling that Jesus was crucified between two thieves. The second significant meaning is for members of this congregation. United Lutheran Church is the product of a merger between three congregations, and thus, recalls the history of this community of faith. The three crosses logo should be used as it is seen here, without alterations to the color, with the exception of prints in grayscale.

Branding Guide by Eddie J. McCoven, Pacific Lutheran University Tagline Proclaiming God s Promises The tagline was chosen in consultation with the Pastor, and was inspired by the photo of the double rainbow arching over the façade of the church building in a photo seen on the congregation s Facebook page. Remembering in Genesis that God put the rainbow in the sky to remind the people of the promise in the covenant with Noah, the promise of God is both seen an unseen in our lives, but we can always speak to that promise. Since United is a congregation where people have found grace and acceptance, this tagline highlights the messages heard from the pulpit messages not of negativity and condemnation, but of hope and mercy, grace and love. Proclaiming God s Promises Come Celebrate with Us The extended tagline was chosen as a call to action, to encourage all persons to celebrate God s promises with this congregation. It also describes this congregation s faith life as celebratory, a contrast to what others may associate with Christian churches. 9 We know that all things work together for good, for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. - Romans 8:28, NRSV But strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. - St. Matthew 6:33, NRSV Nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 8:39, NRSV
St. Paul wrote in his letter to the Romans that there is a purpose to everything. Those who believe and trust God s promise know that in good times and in bad, God is with them, and we find our way through every life passage by the help of God. Confession and renewal of faith Times of healing Marriage Family Life Loss of a loved one Answering God s call to serve Our community of faith is here to help you and your family through many life passages. Jesus said to seek the kingdom of God first in all we do. Thankfully, the kingdom of God is not out of reach. God s presence is found in the Sacraments. Sacraments are acts ordained by God that the Christian church observes. As Christians in the Lutheran tradition, we celebrate two sacraments: Holy Baptism Holy Communion We believe that God is truly present in both the waters of baptism and in the bread and cup of communion, and we invite all persons to be in God s presence with us. St. Paul wrote in his letter to the Romans that nothing, absolutely nothing, will separate us from God and God from us. This is a promise made by God through the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We celebrate that promise every week and we invite you to be a part of the celebration. Worship is held every Sunday at 10:00 am. We also meet on Wednesday afternoons and evenings during the weeks leading up to Christmas and Easter. No matter who you are and where you are on life s journey, you are welcome here. (253) unitedlutherantacoma.org (253) unitedlutherantacoma.org (253) unitedlutherantacoma.org
So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ. - Romans 10:17, NRSV For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them. - St. Matthew 18:20, NRSV The greatest among you will be your servant. - St. Matthew 23:11, NRSV
St. Paul s words ring true to this day. Faith, a gift of the Holy Spirit, comes by hearing the promise of God. We study the scripture in many different ways, through different translations, and by looking at the context in which the inspired word was written. Join us for a bible or theological study. Bring your questions, your curiosity, and your doubts with you and add to the conversation. Sundays 9:00 AM Tuesdays 6:30 PM Wednesdays 2:15 PM Participating in large groups such as worship or conferences is great. But gathering in smaller groups allows for greater discussion and community among believers. No matter the number, Jesus is with us. We invite you to check out one of our small groups: Women s Group (WELCA) Elbe Church Visit Group Faithful Families Jesus said in order to be the greatest, you must be the least, and in order to be first, you must be last.. Here are United, we put our neighborhood s needs before our own. We serve our neighbors in a variety of ways: Wednesday Lunch program Food bank Clothing bank Visiting the sick and homebound We invite you to share your time and talents in service to others. 13 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God - Ephesians 2:8, NRSV For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God - Ephesians 2:8, NRSV For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God - Ephesians 2:8, NRSV
We get asked this question a lot. Truth be told, we ve been around a long time, and we helped changed the course of history in more ways than one. We are a group of Christians who were forced into exile for following the radical teachings of Martin Luther, a German priest and professor who called attention to certain practices in the established Roman Catholic Church that were in contradiction to the bible. 500 years later, we continue to profess a bold faith in Jesus Christ, knowing that we are saved by the grace of God, a gift freely given to all people. We are catholic and evangelical, we are traditional and contemporary, we are open and accepting. We proclaim God s promise: come celebrate with us.
