6 Appendix A: About Our Church The Peachtree Corners Presbyterian congregation meets in a traditional brick building with central sanctuary comprised of wood pews, choir loft, and pulpit surrounded by stained glass windows. The sanctuary is flanked by a fellowship hall with kitchen area and educational wing on one side, and office space on the other. Our 75-minute worship service follows a traditional call to worship, hymn, prayer, reciting of the Apostle s Creed, catechism reading, confession, scripture reading, children s sermon, prayers, offering and sermon (see attached bulletin). After the sermon, there is a closing hymn and benediction. Members and visitors alike describe our church as friendly and welcoming, with a diverse group of ages. We are a strong bible teaching church with a traditional feel to our worship services. Our smaller size allows for building strong relationships among our members. Members are middle and upper middle class college educated professionals, families and retirees. We are a traditional, reformed congregation with a small church feel whose mission is to move people from unbelief to spiritual maturity through strong biblical teaching. We aim to live out our mission by developing redemptive friendships and ministering in Jesus name, freely offering the gospel, and making disciples through Christ-centered worship and teaching that glorifies God and transforms lives. Our vision is to be a fellowship of believers in Jesus Christ that glorifies God, loves our neighbors, and is being transformed by His Word and Spirit. One of our challenges thus far has been to implement an effective outreach to the unchurched in the community. We are a small congregation with limited resources, a concern for preservation, and a resistance to change among some members. We have an opportunity for strong leadership to help develop a plan for outreach to the community and a plan for retaining youth. We want to strengthen our congregational prayer ministry and recruit more volunteers for existing ministries. Our building is strategically located on a prominent, high traffic corner of a large, affluent community where many do not attend church (nearly 0%). We own our building and have no debt. We have a loving, generous membership that is heavily invested in and dedicated to the church, and we would welcome a strong leader to help revitalize our congregation and share a clear vision for our future. 7 Appendix B: About the Community Peachtree Corners is a north Atlanta suburban community that incorporated in 0 to become the City of Peachtree Corners with over 0,000 residents and,00 businesses. It is the only one of Atlanta's northern suburbs that was developed as a planned community. The growing community is currently undergoing residential and commercial development that caters to an expanding segment of upwardly mobile millennials and professionals. The location is very convenient to major interstates and highways compared to its northern suburban counterparts. The local business community includes many engineering and technology firms, and is home to several regional and national headquarters. A new town center is in progress that will feature retail shops, restaurants and entertainment venues, and will help Peachtree Corners distinguish itself from nearby Norcross, which has a strong neighborhood identity. The new town center will be a mixed-use live/play area, and will include a town green and townhomes in the $00-$500k range. The community also provides many parks and recreational activities for children. Our church building sits on the dividing line between the newer more affluent and the older less affluent parts of the community. Our church provides a Kids Hope mentoring program in a local elementary school. We offer the use of our facility to AA, Girl Scouts, and Classical Conversations homeschool group. We also partner with Norcross Cooperative Ministries. We host an annual Easter egg hunt for the community, and we are currently partnering with Healthy Families Initiative to provide training programs that help revitalize families and marriages.
