The Nursery is just a few doors down this hallway. * We have activity bags for youngsters to use during worship. The bags include soft toys and coloring books. Please help yourself to a bag. Be sure to return it after worship. * We practice open communion. If you are baptized and desire to share in the body and blood of our Lord, please join us. * We begin communing children in the 5 th grade. We offer a communion class to prepare 5 th graders to receive this sacrament. * If you would prefer grape juice instead of wine for communion, there is grape juice in the center of the tray of glasses. * Following our worship service there is coffee and tea on the table in our café area. 6 First Reading: Jeremiah 23:1-6 Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! declares the Lord. 2 Therefore thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, concerning the shepherds who care for my people: You have scattered my flock and have driven them away, and you have not attended to them. Behold, I will attend to you for your evil deeds, declares the Lord. 3 Then I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries where I have driven them, and I will bring them back to their fold, and they shall be fruitful and multiply. 4 I will set shepherds over them who will care for them, and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall any be missing, declares the Lord. 5 Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. 6 In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. 14 ANNOUNCEMENTS Quilters The Quilters are excited that they will soon have quilted wall hangings around the building. These will be for sale. If you are interested in any of these, please contact Linda Tumino or Helen Siebert. The Quilters are always looking for new members. Anyone who is interested, please join us any Tuesday morning. We meet from 9:00 to 11:30 with a coffee break at 10:00. No experience is necessary. Only a desire to learn is required! Congregational Prayer You are invited to a time of informal prayer in the sanctuary on Sunday mornings from 9:15 9:45 as we approach the throne of grace on behalf of the church, individuals, and the community. Someone will be available to pray with you, or you may pray silently concerning your needs. Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Church Office Hours Debbie Miller, our congregation s secretary, is in the office on Mondays through Thursdays from 10:00 until 2:00. Please do call her with any questions or requests that you have. Sunday, July 29 Please mark July 29 as a special day here at OSLC. During our worship service we will be receiving new members, have a baptism, and have a young person begin receiving communion. If you are interested in joining OSLC, please talk with Pastor Mark. Men s Study Will Not Meet Tonight! Our Men s Bible Study and fellowship will not meet tonight. The study will resume on Sunday, July 29 at 5:30 p.m. Our study will pick up on the 29 th with Genesis Chapter 32, which is the story of Jacob wrestling with God. Be sure to come!

15 Starting to Plan for Sunday School We are beginning to plan for our Sunday School this fall. If you would like to help with Sunday School, either as a teacher or in some other role, please contact Pastor Mark. We offer Sunday School classes for ages 3 through adult, we are looking forward to resuming this special ministry! Save the Date Our next planning meeting will be August 6, at 6:30 P.M. Please join us as we plan for the following Oktoberfest event at OSLC! Oktoberfest 2018 When: October 13, :00-8:00 Chairperson: Natalie Smith Where: Our Saviour s Lutheran Church, Purrington Pavilion and Surrounding Back Yard Oktoberfest this year will include a meal of brats, German potato salad and sauerkraut. Weinerland will be here to serve hot dogs for the kids and Kona Ice is attending to serve snow cones. There will be DJ with music and polka dancing. There will be a German costume contest, so start looking for those costumes for the kids and adults. We are also planning many activities for the kids that will all be free like face painting and bounce houses. We are looking for volunteers to help serve food and assist with the activities. Look for sign up sheets in the Narthex. We are also asking for donations of Coke, Diet Coke, Dr. Pepper, Sprite and Water. These can be dropped off on the table in the Narthex, too. Plan to attend this community outreach event and enjoy a great time of food and fellowship. ********T-shirts will be available soon.******** Thursday Morning Bible Study We have Bible study every Thursday at 10:00 AM. Come join us and participate in our lively discussions of God s Word! We are currently studying Galatians and have a few booklets left. We can order additional booklets if needed.
